The Birth of Nicolas Valesmark

 

The birds chirped as dawn arose, the windows left a certain halo as slowly the lights went on behind the glass. As the Festinian fields remained silent, and the grapes waited to be picked by the farmers who would soon awake.

In the keep at the edge of the small Festinian winefields there layed a woman and her trusty partner, holding hands as the maidens prepared for an event that would change the life of Casimir and Rosalynne. Casimir saw this as his first victory, his descendant who would forward the revival and legacy of the Valesmarks. Today was the day, now, this cycle, this dawn. Soon, he will have the future in his hands.

 

As the warmth in the room became too much, the maidens ran around grabbing all kinds of tools and cloths to aid Rosalynne. Casimir hold her hand, trying not to show the expression of pain as she crushed it intensely. The sounds of shoes hitting the stone floor almost seemed melodic, and Rosalynne tried everything she can to breath through the pain. The workers and family members surrounded Rosalynne with intense and curious looks, with nothing to be heard but mumbles and whispers.

And there he came, the most honorable descendant of Casimir. As he cried Rosalynne hold him in her hands, looking towards Casimir in relief and peace. She tried to catch her breath as she asked “What shall we name him?”. Casimir looked towards the baby, his son, his future. He smiled softly, stroking its head as he said “Nicolas… His name will be Nicolas..”

With that the maidens left Casimir & Rosalynne alone in the room, thinking about what the future may bring.
