<<< "Hi, LOTC. Just thought it'd be fun to have a bit of a friendly debate thread, in leauge with whats' happening with the country (and others) lately, I was thinking that same-sex marriage/homosexuality would be a good topic. So, go head! Please remain civil. : D— B, Today 9:30 PM

Now that we have Borgs post out of the way I think we should discuss lgbt rights and see what everyone thinks. Please keep it civil as we are trying to see how this works out. It's something we'd really like you guys to voice YOUR opinions over. Thanks in advance!

[FM 'Thatpyrodude'] This is a sensitive topic guys, let's be respectful to everyone's views and opinions. [/FM]

hey you asked me to write it for you now dont point fingers at me no sir.

On a more serious, capitalized note. As someone who was once a hardcore catholic, I find myself a non-denomonational libertarian now, so, yes, I support it to the utmost. Rights are for everyone, not just for the white man or the straight man or the walking man, and although sin can be found in everything, so can love. With putin's rampant homophobia, it's an odd preconception that hatred is a mandate in this brave new world we have crafted. So, to answer in simple words and  calm tones, I'd say yes.

(No really, i hold no assosciation to this post, the views expressed below or above are not of my own, and I hold no liability. ja)

We had this debate before and it ended horribly. It probably ins't the best idea to have it again.

Less of a Debate, more of a 'Get civilized and treat everyone equally"

The thing with me is, I really don't care what happens.

Can I ask that this be removed or at least blocked. As a person who has family members who are homosexual, I prefer if we do not even try to be civil. It just leaves room for inflammatory remarks. Even if none have been made yet, there is always the chance of it happening, and I do not find that to be in the spirit of the game.

I apologize, and I understand the idea behind it is noble and good... but I agree with TMoore. This is one of those topics it probably isn't good to debate. I'm very sorry. Usually I would be the first one to advocate discussion, but some of the comments made here can seriously hurt homosexuals, even if it's all in good discussion. If you want to have this discussion with someone, do it in private please. Thank you.

I don't know of the community has reached the point where we can have a civil debate about server rules...

Let alone the touchy subject of LGBTA rights.

I dear you to teach me wrong

Debate is as it means, a debate. Argument for hurt feelers and butthurt is weeded out with the pretext that this is going to wage for and against the topic, without subjective content. Therefore, I judge this thread totally acceptable as a Global Moderator, and a homosexual.

I honestly don't care if same sex marriages are legalized... I have a gay friend, and if he wants to get married, go for it. It's the same opinion I have on other people's religious beleifs that are different than mine, or political views that differ than mine: I simply don't care. So long as you aren't making out in front of me, I'm not going to say "Yeah, no gay marriage" (That's not to say I would be uncomfortable /only/ if a same-sex couple were making out in front of me... I'd be uncomfortable if a guy and a girl were making out in front of me. I don't want to see it >_<) That's not to say "I don't care what happens to people who are gay". If I was asked to make a definite for or against choice, I'd say for same-sex marriage. But I honestly just don't care. I already have enough of a hard time going to sleep as it is with things that are happening to me and might not happen to me, so the last thing I am going to care about is if two guys or two girls are getting married. Not going to get in the way of that.

Homosexuality is a biological crime, but not spiritual. Spiritual overrides the survival sense any day. It's not like there's two men in the world left and thousands of women, we don't need to worry about the human species continuation because there're billions of us occupying Earth. Biologically it is a crime, but spirit overrides biology.

Simplified: I believe rights are for everyone, including homosexuals.

Piercing, thats' just not true.

Every single animal we know of, minus seahorses, practice homosexuality. We are billions strong. We're overpopulated. Even if we weren't, homosexuals occupy 10% of the pop, not enough to make that sizeable a dent, and outside fertilization is possible. While I can not attest to the "Spirit", I can agree on the fact human happiness overides biological neccesity. Heterosexuals have as much sodomy as gays, probably more, which does not lead to conception.

Personally, as a Christian, I should say that same sex marriage is a sin. But, I'll just put this out there, it's not my personal duty to prevent people from sinning, just teach those about Christ's love, and compassion, and not sin myself? Or, atleast that I am aware of. I'm sure I'm supposed to to some extent. But, I don't really care about same sex marriage, if you honestly feel that way go for it. If someone tries to stop you, then just keep goin' at it. Love is love, and if it be a sin, love, is still love.
