Not at all, but if you so desire to harbor unproven suspicion - you are at liberty to do so. What Im pointing out is that ultimately, "debating" over a forum will get you nowhere. I suggest taking action IRL, that is best. The Internet has become a brain-drain where folks believe they are being intellectual whilst not really doing much. Advocacy over the internet likewise is not translating into much action as much as Reddit may have folks believe. Contact your congressmen, get in touch with grassroots. For High Schoolers, why not try and advocate in person? It will have a greater effect with the power of face-to-fact contact. That is my point.

 

I'll give you an example, I am not fond of Israeli treatment of Palestine. Instead of making a thread on the forums, I take part in a Students for Justice organization at my college campus.

Then you make more a benefit there than here. My point stands, debating over a forum where you have met practically 100% support grants no tangible benefit comrade.

 

PS: Those that dont approve of gays for example, will not suffer cognitive dissonance through the text displayed on their computer. If you do as you say you do, then I am glad.

If folks want to debate over the internet then let it be. Discussing the effectiveness of online debate can be compared directly to how effective online debating itself is in this particular case. 

Albeit I will say this "Debate" has in all appearances devolved down from a debate to a optional consensus on one viewpoint more or less.

Further I don't think debate itself is encouraged in this thread. Any who would object against it at this point are going to have a bad time due to the fact this thread has become a consensus.

Its scary that you guys live in countries where the rights of the people needs a debate. I dont really like homos, but they dont really bother me so meh

 

Trans people need serious help. You really do not deserve to get some kind of special ******* treatment because you think you're supposed to have a ******* ****. This is all just some **** thats come up because of how "popular" and "accepted" **** has been lately, we didnt have these problems during the 70's or 80's. And now all of a sudden there are ******* transgender bathrooms in places, i ******* hate my country.

I think there is nothing to debate. Just because someone behaves or lives slightly differently than you, that doesn't suddenly mean that you get the right to examine their life and decide if you like it or not and make entire laws based on your personal fee-fees, which is what some people actually believe. Which I find infuriating that everyone feels like there is nothing wrong with giving their opinions on a life style that doesn't even involve them. 

 

James2K, while there might be a parade once in a while, we have entire T.V. shows and channels devoted to straight sexuality. It's on billboards and people show it off in public. No one says a thing to that?

I've never seen a billboard, show, channel or parade devoted to heterosexuality. I've seen shows that have a lot of straight sex, or ads where a man kisses his wife or something but I've never seen a show or billboard or whatever devoted to straightness...

It doesn't have to say "Let's celibrate straight sexuality." but in reality, there are several SEVERAL shows about straight sexuality. Sex in the City, the entire Hallmark channel with their cheesy CHEESY relationship based plots. Then you have "Guy Shows" on MTV and such, which is basically "Yeah we're dudes and we think women are super hawt." Even if those shows are entertaining, that is what they are about, straight dudes. I don't have a problem with it, but that's just what it is. When no one bats an eyelash at two straight folk kissing on a show or in real life, I don't really care about parades anymore.

That is not the same thing AT ALL. That's like me saying Modern Family is devoted to gays because it has one gay couple in it. Just because a show has straight sex in it, or is about a straight couple, doesn't mean it is devoted to and supporting straight sex. It just means that that's the freaking plot. It's not at all like a gay pride parade.

My opinion on this is that this thread has already severely and possibly irreversibly damaged the relationships of many of our players with one another by bringing their diverging opinions into conflict, and that dislike will spill into other areas of the server. There is no benefit to this conversation, just cost.
