Lgbt Rights Debate

Personally I'm a big fan of rights for everyone. I would get into a whole religious theory that I think could be possible but I'm not going to because I don't talk about religion.  (As someone who is totally confused about their sexuality but assumes they are gay or just like guys more then girls or other genders this may be a biased point of view)

Putin homophobic lol. Russia banned gay pride parades and propaganda to minors. Thats it. The russian goverment did not arrest, kill or torture gay people. They passed a law that the vast majority of the population aproved ( Including many gays, who say that gay pride parades only hurt the gay right movements by making them seem like weirdos who just love to show the world how good they look in their underwear). Putin did  not even make the law, the Duma  did, why? Because their constituent demanded it. It seems like a fad to make Putin the devil. You can say that the Russian people are homophobic but heck, every country has homophobia some more then others.

I fully agree that everyone should have rights but atacking Putin is just a fad and quite frankly dumm.

Edit:Duma= Russian congress

I find it hard to believe that there will be any opposition to LGBT rights on this server seeing as 90% of the female characters are lesbian assassins

On a more serious note, I see no real reason to withhold rights from someone if they are attracted to something different from you. I think that applies here.

It all comes down to your religious beliefs, really. I'm an atheist, so I believe homosexuals should have the right to be as miserable as the rest of us; let 'em get married.

Craotor, it promoted this. Though not directly, it does give it credence and support on the societal level.

This is sickening, and Putin is letting it happen, his quotes vary from the idea he is "Protecting the children", to mroe recently simple "disgust" with the gay rights movement. They go without punishment. Cuba was the one to punish the ringleader(Tesak, one of the creators of 'Occupy Paedophelia,). Putin is not the devil, but he is cruel. I mean no disrespect with this, he is a good leader for what little its' worth, but 'gay propaganda' is wide. In doing this, a site for help (suicide helpline for gay teens in russia) was taken down under this law. It is appaling, simply due to the fact it takes the gay rights movement in russia down by twenty steps.

There are Neo-Nazis all over the world not only in Russia. 5 years ago Brazilian Neo Nazis aborted  a baby from a jew woman, american neo nazis are trying to make an all white city, , Ukranian neo nazis said they would kill all Russians in Ukraine. You cant say that because there is a certain group in that country that the leader of said contry supports them. They are like a disease, everywhere and I see no goverment trying to stop it.

You said more about Putin who has had an almost neutral aproach to this but you said nothing aboud Saudi Arabia, Uganda, Iran, Kuwait, Sudan, Nigeria ((I think?)). In those countries its not only ilegal to be gay, you get the death penalty. If you scream at Putin for banning propagand but I have not heard a word about these countries that blatantly violate human rights.

Oddly enough I noticed the "Putin hates gays" right when Russia tried to step up and participate globally and when Ukraine was getting hot. That being said, I dont believe government should even be involved in marriage. Allow gays to marry with peace corp and/or religious priests who deem it fine.

Alright, I will make an actual post.

Though, I will stand by my original point, which was;

The community, at this point, cannot remain civil on the simple debate of the servers rules or even the bloody antagonist...

Let alone a touchy subject like this....

But, that being said.

---

The only things standing against the marriage between those of the same sex, is a mixture of things.

1- Tradition is a hard thing to let go, and lets be honest with ourselves, LGBT rights are a relatively new concept.

2- Cultures are also another barrier, talk to an older generation about LGBT and you will see how different their views are.

3- Religion is another, which I think we all know how that is.

Change is good, but it's not easy.

---

I am all for equality.

I mean, I support the Femanists whom want equal rights and what not.

As long as the ends is actual equality.

---

I am Sky.

I am male.

I am an Australian.

I am a Pansexual.

---

Thank you for reading.

I have, Craotor. I'm not disagreeing with ja, but those states are very hard to pry. So much bigotry, very little time in the scheme of things. Uganda is the worst at the moment, Qatar as well, if I recall. A good deal of people are working on the situation in these states, but what can be done? Two men were forced to have sex in the street in Uganda, then killed. No police action. They were lovers. This is worse then russia, yes. But we can not dismiss the bigotry of one on the grounds of the fact others are in that situation too. It's all around bad.

Fully agree, its not the goverments job to dictate who should be able to marry who. And the whole debate that politicians have about this is just to distract people from really important issues.

Personally, as a Christian, I should say that same sex marriage is a sin. But, I'll just put this out there, it's not my personal duty to prevent people from sinning, just teach those about Christ's love, and compassion, and not sin myself? Or, atleast that I am aware of. I'm sure I'm supposed to to some extent. But, I don't really care about same sex marriage, if you honestly feel that way go for it. If someone tries to stop you, then just keep goin' at it. Love is love, and if it be a sin, love, is still love.

As someone who is very pro-LGBT rights, I found your viewpoint refreshing. You clearly disagree with the idea, but you are able to keep the topic civil and kind. For that, I thank you, and hope that others follow in your example. +1

In case that sounded, sarcastic, which I realize dit sort of could, I am being totally serious.

I can agree with that, Craotor. The sad part is, that these idiots are truly able to do it. If the government would just make a mandate (In the US) that'd allow same-sex couples to marry with willing churches, I'd be happy. I'm sure everyone would be happy. We've been turned into the face of an issue, and a way to evade problem. I dislike it, I loathe it, but one must work for their own interests in the world. We should be working in places where problems truly matter, where rape is abundant and murder is more common then life, but we instead choose to focus on one issue that really isn't one. I respect yer' opinion and agree with both of y a. Very odd how we've become a majority vote (53% of americans want same sex marriage legalized), yet this is still an 'issue'. dat ineffective government.

We don't need to hear about your sexual orientation. Stay unbiased Zarsies and Sky ;)

While I usually believe in mostly factual debates, do you not think that the topic itself lends to a more biased discussion, in one way or an other? In fact, this debate could not truly be argued with facts, and opinions are the only way to debate this topic. Would you not agree? If you think differently, I would be happy to discuss it, as I find this thread a very interesting topic.
