A Proposal To Lock All Of The Magic Subtypes.

It's not about him being special.

I think what Kardel meant is that back in the old days when you see a mage you could pretty much fanboy him. Now when you see a mage, you'd just be like "Oh, that's nice."

He means that magic in itself has grown devalued because everyone and their cat can pick it up for free.

I nearly killed off a character because she really has no value left in her.

Let everyone and their cat pick it up, it doesn't matter in the gran scheme, if they abuse it and don't get caught, ignore them. Leo's right, magic wasn't that great with MAs tbh, and getting a new system to replace MAs is rp suicide, let people rp, let people be. There's no purpose to characters unless you give them one, Cyndikate.

If your character's entire value, in your eyes, was the fact that they were a mage/wizard/witch, then they are very one dimensional and should be killed off or at least heavily revamped/improved upon.

Not trying to insult you, I'm just saying it like it is, Cyndi. You should never make magic a character's entire purpose, to the point where because your character isn't "special" anymore because everyone else can do magic now too without jumping through flaming hoops causes you to think they have no value. Magic does not make a character. It should NEVER make a character. Magic alone should not be the entire reason why you find a character fun to play, or you're bound to run into a dead end with them sooner or later.

See, I see what's going on here. You miss being "special" because you had magic and most people didn't / couldn't have / had a difficult time getting magic. Magic shouldn't be a hard thing to get, unless it's things like necromancy, which I'm still not in full agreement with either way but I understand why THAT is.

Kardel's an alchemist. Might want to aim your shots more carefully.

It's funny to me how the majority of peoples feedback in these kinds of threads is ignored.

On a phoney, but he mentioned flame magic, not alchemists fire.

Lago you're making this hard on yourself. Read the post I referred to when I said he was upset he's not speshul. He was talking about, and said specifically his fire evocation that he spent a year learning or something. Alchemy wasn't mentioned. Why you brought up his alchemy is beyond me, clearly.

You should aim your shots better.

Looks like a cheap shot at Kardel to me.

Why not remove the tomes, and just let them find teachers rply, trying to get some roleplay atleast, having a great experience with their journey, and that way they will get more experience, and their characters might be able to make friends, and get popular in character and such, character development (Thank you xRenaix to tell me about the development thing though)

He's saying it how it is. Boo-*******-hoo if it hurts someones feelings. Develop a tough skin and move on, it'll probably be the only useful thing you'll ever get from this server.

Times change, magic ain't unique anymore. Tough ****, you can't be unique because of it. Try to make your character interesting instead. Dozens of players managed to do that before, (ex: Geo, Sheumgal, etc...)

Perhaps if you want to have magic serve as a means to make your character interesting, you develop your own type of magic and roleplay it, rather than using the pew pew fireballs and other magics that everyone has already seen and knows about?

That. But you still need to have perms from the staff for that then, so it doesn't get too over-powered ;)

You actually don't. Just don't metagame or powergame and you're good. The best magic is the magic that is totally unrelated to combat :)

Ah, if more people thought this way...
