War, Safe Zones, And Fighting. Oh My!

Can you file a report on an entire nation? Any nation can simply rotate groups of raiders in a place. Would nation leaders get punished in this instance?

You can file a report on individuals, Why would we punish a nation leader for something they may not even know is going on?

Chances are if you are feeling harassed it will be the same players, even if they represent a nation.

The problem with that is... how are you supposed to ban report a whole FACTION? Who would be the one to be penalized in a situation like this? And how many times do you need to be raided until it is too much

What if you're being raided by different cities? And... if those cities are protected from being taken over... then what can you do to fight back against them? I mean... raiding them back would just further aggravate the situation, and just make everyone madder. I guess talking to the leaders would somewhat help, but there's a lot of room for something rather bad to happen in a scenario like this. D:

Take screenshots, get names... The same way you would report anything? and if you are a small faction there is no way you are over taking a major city anyways... I don't see them disagreeing to a fight they are going to win.

You got a video of raiders recently that broke a bunch of rules and raided for giggles. No real reason other than "hate elves" when there is no IC proof we were all elves. They /slaughtered/ a human child. I saw no punishment given then. Why should we believe any help will come next time when they raid us over. and over. and over. and camp the SS pillar?

I'm sorry you didn't see punishment given, But it was and I got enough flack for it from them.

I'd rather not rely on "chances are", Rhia. I have seen coordinated efforts from nations to target certain groups and dodge around the rules to do so (such as alternating raiding parties, using alts... etc.) Who is accountable then?

I gotta be blunt about all this. It's going to be INCREDIBLY abused and small groups stand literally no chance. At all. Yeah, they already struggle but hey! They can at the very least erect a tiny village that can only be raided so often and by restricted numbers, resulting in a more easily achieved number to counter-act raids. Smaller RP hubs will be erased, very quickly. This could result in one of two things! Groups conforming to nation RP which is good and dandy! Or groups just up and leaving.

That being said and done, the idea sounds great for 4.0 But, why jump the gun? The literal lack of regions and free-roaming military raids, which to be blunt, are already being planned, feels like it's going to bring A LOT more drama than what's already felt. I can see people falling back on some of the more subjectively worded rulings in an effort to get players banned for first-time interactions.

Odd to speak from this angle...

From this point on unless you have a constructive post don't bother posting. It's fine if you disagree but it's far too soon to see how this will go, so complaining this soon is just.... well pointless.

We are going to try this and it may be this way in 4.0... So give it a chance and then give us your feedback. I think we have proven over the past month or so that we are listening to player feedback and trying to make changes that are balanced.

The reason we are implementing this on the Fringe is to see how things will go and make changes, so the idea will be hammered out for 4.0... I think we can all agree that testing an idea out before changing to a major map is a good idea. If this is a total failure we can make changes, as we always have.

In all seriousness, Rhia, I feel I've pointed out a few flaws within the staff's reasoning and attitude behind this apparent reform, and I did ask a few questions that were not made entirely clear within that actual reform. If you deem them to be constructive, I would appreciate a response.

You guys realize that you're just going to give people ideas at this point, right? Seriously, relax. We know this may not work. There's never a guarantee it will. Just step back, try to make it work, and see where we go from there. Then after awhile report the problems.

It's a little unfortunate that everyone is throwing up their hands in fuss regarding the new changes, but I suppose it isn't surprising. Regardless, I'm pretty pleased with the list of changes overall. I do think the toggleable PVP in certain regions is a mistake, as it will likely further the divide between the "RP purists" and "item hungry PVPers" by physically splitting them into two groups. However, I do think the positives certainly outweigh the negative, and hope that this will not be divisive to the extent many likely foresee it being.

+1 Rittsy and associated staff, as you certainly appear to be listening to the community to a significant extent (despite the various upset individuals).

Giving people ideas to abuse a theorized reform.

Maybe make additional reforms to combat these theorized abusive behaviors in kind? I dunno. Just in case.

The 'ideas' are by all means the feedback you're talking about, the flaws in this newly ushered system. It would do better to address them before they become problems, from my perspective.

Alright, so.

You should probably know, Raiding has a far more physcological impact OOCly on players then say, a lost IC war. Raiding causes you to have to stop RP, fight, die, or worst case, simply log off because everyone in say, an RP inclined undefended settlement hates PVP.

This causes grief and angst, and the feeling they're unprotected, and I'm damn sure they'd rather take a warclaim and surrender then deal with constant raiding.

RAIDING DESTROYS PLAYERBASES.

WARCLAIMS DO NOT.

KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.

How about a compramise to the "smaller" people who dont want to deal with being forced to join a nation?

They must have so many active people. (10-15)

They must have at least 2 bedrock VIPs or up.

They clear a specified amount of area with an ADMIN or a GM

they get this pretty little flag so they can continue to have peaceful rp away from conflict?

Does this sound fair? Its something you guys plan to do in 4.0 anyways. So why not give this compromise?

I won't lie, I plan to talk to Rittsy privately about this. However, I think the cat is out of the bag and even the "big bad ominous" White Rose are not keen on these changes. I say let this unsavory change be reverted and we can all go back to playing the game and back to our drawing boards figuratively.

I like that idea except for the 2 bedrock VIP part. Shouldn't have to pay 200 dollars to enjoy RP.

it was based on plot size for that. Plus you need at least 1 for a red SS pillar

As I read some of what is posted, it may make sense to create some way for other groups to get regioning, if they meet some criteria that the staff would set (x number of people or x VIP rank), as that would keep those afraid of infinite raids happy. Then again, that wouldn't help very much if PVP weren't toggleable, which I still what I think is best.

Only a Gm can toggle it for the nation leader, it won't be toggled willy nilly by the NL.  There are positives and negatives for both sides, This was our compromise.

In 4.0 all regions will have this capability, and maybe this is something we can add for this map? In 4.0 there will be more coordination for vip perks that we just don't have in place yet, that makes it difficult to implement it now. Rittsy went to bed but I will bring this up with him when he wakes up. (Unless he see's this first)
