The Town of Karovia

Upon the former grounds of Alras, black earth freshly turned and new crop recently sown, a cluster of buildings rise within the new settlement of Karovia.

Pioneered by Aleksandr Carrion ((Arkantos1279)) and driven by the determination of throngs of refugees, hovels are filled as quickly as they are raised, the jovial spirit of shared endeavor filling the air. Karovia, a new opportunity for all, has driven its roots deep into the ground.

"All with peaceful intent are welcome to join this vastly-growing town! Human, Dwarf, Elf, and Orc alike! Whether you're a farmer, fighter, or baker, there's a place for you here!"

With promise of work, housing, security and food to all who answer her call, couriers are dispatched throughout the land, telling those everywhere of her temptations. United in their toil to build a better life, men and women of all races from about Athera travel to the wooded canyon, finding a new life beyond her gates.

"Follow the main Athera road towards Oren. Follow the road into the lands previously known as Alras, and you'll be there! ((x926 z682))!"

All Karovian Levymen will be issued a set of armor, a sword, spear, bow, and arrows, and recieve extensive, free training on their proper use.

Constables will assist in training, running and recruiting of the levy. Constables will be issued special gear issued at the start of their tenure, and are appointed and dismissed strictly by the marshal.
Pay
Levymen will be issued 20 minas a week, upon attendance and completion of the weekly muster. At the start of their tenure, levymen will receive standard outfitting, and optional housing in tents during peacetime and campaigns.

Those seeking the life of a full-time soldier should speak directly to the Marshal, Arik Vanir,or one of the patrons of the Vanir family.

(OOC: Use of teamspeak will be REQUIRED for any warclaim or raiding events. It is NOT required for simple training or town events, but HIGHLY suggested. Even if you cannot speak, attending and listening to your officers in teamspeak is vital, and will not be excused. Skype, while not required, is also heavily recommended for keeping up to date with training sessions.)

*Has a messenger-boy deliever a letter to the leader of Karvoia.*

To the leader of the Settlement of Karvoia,

It has come to my attention you've founded a new settlement near the City of Petrus, in the former settlement of Alras.  The Covenant of Mar will be dispatching a small detachment of soldiers to come greet ye, and discuss various trade agreements between Karvoia and Merithic.

Signed,

Za'goth Unkai

2nd Valkelm of the Covenant of Mar

Ryv lumbers slowly up the path leading into Karovia, his boots crunching loudly on the gravel. Tired from a days labour he passes the different tradesmen and peasants, giving a dismissive, husky grunt to any who might try communicating with him. As he reaches the tavern he enters and slams his fist on the counter to gain the Bartenders attention.
“You there, barkeep! Give me the strongest ale you’ve got, I plan to drink away todays wages”

Leaving the town of Karovia behind following his monthly visit from Petrus, the Imperial Prince Yakov Carrion turns around to look back along the road he had traveled. Sighing lightly as he sits atop his horse, he leans over to his humble guard, Vladimir.

"Is fine town, da! Brother of mine has made good use of resources... Let us hope can survive bitter snows of Deep Cold and accommodate to honourable needs of streltsey. Place of mine however is in Petrus city, by papa's side. Am niet built for country like he..."

Tugging on the reigns of his horse, the animal rears itself around and begins to trot off down the road towards Petrus.

"The Karovian Trading Company has jobs for everyone! Be you a lumberjack, soldier or fisherman! You name it and we have work for you! Might I also add that we have quite the generous salary?!"

A company worker shouts as he rides through the settlements of Athera.

Peter Horen comes to a halt as his wanderings take him to Karovia, the tall man's pale eyes taking in the rustic sights and homey atmosphere. As he trod on worn leather boots through the damp streets of the small settlement, he traced a rough hand over the cobbled stones and wood of nearby buildings. Certainly not the most extravagant of sights, nor the most noble.

Indeed, a far cry was this from the home of his new-found family. He could feel the squelch of mud under his boots, the splinters of unrefined wood in the buildings, and the calming sensation of realism. This... This was what he was seeking. He was a nobleman by name only, and the tedious mannerisms and rules of the Human capitol seemed so very false. On weary legs he directed himself to the pleasantly named Pukin' Crow Tavern, dropping himself into a seat.

A crooked smile danced across Peter's lips as he tapped a finger on the table, free hand rising to scratch at his unkempt beard, "Aye, a bit barren... Quiet, but not a ghost town..." he though aloud in a quiet, mildly celtic accent, "It'll do." he decided with a nod.

With that, the man rose and pulled a stained piece of parchment from his satchel, along with a crumbling stick of charcoal. A chance he could not bypass, with challenges he felt he could face.
