Glorious, perhaps take a list of current mages? That way we can't have folk making new personas claiming to be mages before the lock?

If someone's being a problematic magic RPer, we simply inquire who taught them and follow up.  If it doesn't check out, we direct them to proper instructors OOCly and/or give them advice on how to RP said magic properly.  The goal is properly RP'd magic, with a sense of community oversight to make sure people are doing it right.  Someone RPing magic wrong isn't a huge deal, they can be helped to RP it correctly.  Someone blatantly powergaming and abusing will get blacklisted until they can learn to RP it correctly.

Love where the server's headed. This was definitely a step in the right direction. Great job!

I'm really concerned about this. I hope this won't end up like how magic was handled last time we had a system similar to this, where teachers would only teach their OOC friends.

Last time teachers were restricted in how many they could teach, and once they filled one of their student slots they were stuck with that student for months and months. That encouraged people teaching their friends, because you know you're going to get along with and have fun with your friends. While people will still undoubtedly do this, they have the space to take more risks with who they teach, and nothing says they can't dump bad students.

In my opinion, magic should be removed. Magic doesn't help you on a PvP factions server like LoTC.

(Yes this is a meme)

No, seriously, I hope this puts an end to the spreading infection of magic-abusing, Powergaming edgies.

I'm interested to see how this goes. I hope this brings some new life back into magic roleplay.

For my character Tahjeet Mubdee, who I have had since the old magic system, do I need to reapply for Illusion, Conjuration and Arcane Magic? Or have I been with the magic roleplay so long that I wouldn't need to do so. Feel free to PM me - I know the Arcane Magic may be an issue.

There are no applications for learning magic or for people that know magic. Only if you want to teach others do we need to find out if you know enough of the magic.

What's the stance of 'New' magic lore?

(Something built and written for the Anthosian system, but was stonewalled by the wierd constrictions involving the 'magic plugin' at that time.)

Edit: Am I just being an idiot and not seeing the big sign saying

'No new magic'

?

Id rather it be private.

I'd rather it didn't.

Why so? If people don't want others to OOCly know your character knows magic, then why not respect that?
