I've waited awhile, and I plead for the staff to pardon me and the people whom' said Allah U'Akbar. For if we do it again, then we deserve it, those whom' who understand these new laws should be given' another chance, anyone who agrees say Aye, others who disagree say, Nay'.

:idk:

Seriously shut the **** up, if they haven't pardoned you by this point they probably won't so stop spamming this post which was meant for serious matters.

Man, you guys are ridiculous. Maybe I'm wrong but from what I read, it doesn't sound like meming is completely banned. Though I abhore means and I think anyone who actively participates in them needs to grow the hell up and stop acting like a retarded eleven year old, I understand that they sometimes have their place; as do jokes and other such things. I doubt any GM is going to be arsed to ban you for screwing around with your friends or doing some of that dank cactus kush green roleplay people seem to be so found of these days. They're just trying to imrpove the consistenty of RP when it's actually going on. I don't want people screwing around and Roleplaying like idiots while I'm trying to actually enjoy myself. Same thing should apply on the forums to be honest. If I was allowed to **** post, I'd some of the people here just because of the sheer amount of stupid content they put out. It clutters the forums, and keeps people from seeing the actually good content that needs to be read. As for the whole toxicity thing, listen. I am fine with people making jokes like that; hell sometimes they're funny. Despite that, there are some people that are genuinally offended by it. And I know the majority of people that inhabit LotC are edgy 13-18 year olds who can't bother to give a **** about anyone but themselves, but I think it's fair to ask you to give up jokes such as what was illistrated in the opening post for the enjoyment of others. As long as the mods aren't to harsh about it, it should be fine. And from what I've seen, the mods really aren't to harsh. I've said fa**** and a****** several times due to it just slipping out as a force of habbit. Instead of banning me, the GM's just PM me, reminding me to watch my mouth or whatever. I honestly feel bad for our staff sometimes. Whatever qualms you might have with them, they're still people and fellow LotC's. They're not evil people that just love to ban you and your friends for having fun. People need to chill out.

TL;DR, It's not that big a deal. No one is taking away your cactus green memes, and whatever the hell else you want to do. They're just forcing you to do them in the proper place, which is OOC/Skype/OOC Sub-Forum.

I take no issue with penalizing memeing in RP.

However, it was said that jokes "toxic" (i.e satire of religious/political views) even in ooc, private messages "demean people's beliefs" which I take issue with.

Also, indefinitely banning people for memeing IC is a bit over the top. It should be only if done consistently.

The irony is I think the word meme was invented by Richard Dawkins in "The Selfish Gene."

On a side joke, are things which are 'light jokes' like Star-breaker-bucks also removed from this?

I hope this isn't the end for Adunia's finest Clan Campbell's soup

Or Duncan Cal'mirs fast food business: Duncan's Donuts

+1, none of this stuff should be role-played. It's one thing to joke around in teamspeak or in /t but in-game it has little context and only ruins gameplay.

That being said, it is harmless if these memes are kept outside of forum posts and in-game role-play channels. I hope the staff acts with relative lenience if these things are done in private between friends.

Player retention isn't based on what two veteran players say in private between one another, nor even what may be seen being said between two players in a public medium. Player retention is based on the quality of the server, which while looking up is still at a low compared to the days when we had high retention. I don't think I really need to write anything longer than this to make that point.

Using memes in rp is really dumb but using them in private messages should be allowed just saying

Is this community really that stupid? Honestly a lot of you I see defending the allahu akbar and toxicity, suddenly come out of the woodworks where you've taken next to no part in the community otherwise, just to complain about this. I'm glad for this change, and it should have been made a long time ago. You're not defending the religion, you're defending being toxic. No, religious sayings aren't toxic, but you're not saying it in a religious way, and I know a few of you are going to say that you are. You're being blatantly toxic and using it as a meme. Grow up. I thought this community was better than this.

I'd imagine the staff will act with lenience, and that a bunch of posters are just assuming worst-case scenarios. I know back 7 or 8 months ago when I was a GM, a number of GM's wanted to deal with the really unnecessary stuff used in roleplay that was just poking people's delicate sensibilities, not people goofing off in PM's. I'd imagine the staff may be a little strict about what is sent in tells which I don't entirely agree with, but that was already the precedent so it shouldn't be met with shock and outrage if that's the case.
