"bad Hero" Characters And Why They Should Be Frowned On

Hey all, in all my years on this server there is always one issue i have seen (I am looking at you Oren...)

the issue is the following:

 

People try to make cliché characters resembling "The hound" from GoT or generally toxic soldiers that would make no sense in our server at all unless this were a GoT server. These..."roleplayers" as they so call themselves, always seem to be immature people with a attitude who think they can trick the whole server into thinking they are good rpers when all they do is pvp default. The most insulting part of all of this is what they do when they rp, they will get 10 or more people and just flood a area with chat spam of emotes directed at killing one person. When the person doesn't even know whom to emote to due to the confusing emote spam, they will then start to say in Looc "RESPOND TO THE EMOTES OMG". 

 

This behaviour is toxic and i find we need a rule to limit the amount of emotes one can do all at once in 10 vs 1-5 fight. Additionally we need to ban "Hedgies" as i call them.

 

The term "Hedgie":

 

I made this term recently to fit a description of the toxic opposite to a edgy. The H stands for hero and the edgie means edgy. Now a hedgie is someone who plays a character with a negative attitude as a soldier or man of sorts and will always try to get in fights while also doing the OOC things indicated above just so he can win in pvp default. Additionally they power game by doing emotes like: Swings his sword at the mans head. Instead of: ATTEMPTS to swing his sword at the mans NECK. This does break normal rules and should lead to a temp ban of a few days but noooo. The staff never punishes people for this and i find it ridiculous. We don't use rolls like Uthrandir and we never will so why should we tolerate that type of behaviour?

 

Generally, i find a character should have empathy as a soldier for his fellow man, having seen the terrors of war first hand we would imagine he would feel empathy or be devoid of it but only to the point where he wouldn't kill for nothing. Think of a veteran in RL, do you think a veteran likes to kill? Do you think they have blood lust? Or pride in what they do? Do you think those soldiers in RL that died in the middle east WANTED to die? Or WANTED to kill? They were normal people like you and me and your character in a rp server should be no different. YOU are a normal person soldiers, NOT A GOD DAMN HOUND FROM GoT.

 

Thats all i have to say, i would like for people to share their experiences on hedgies and support this term.

Are you ******* kidding me? It's powergaming to say "Swings a sword at the man's neck" instead of "Attempts to swing a sword at the man's neck"? Are you for real? That's not powergaming at all. It's powergaming to say "Swings a sword and hits the man's neck," but the 'attempted' is implied in the original emote. I also find it highly ironic how you are accusing people of being immature but have posted nothing but rude insults towards parts of our playerbase based on exaggerated stereotypes.

Let's start this beautifully written thread with a warning that we're definetly not responsible if you get mad at my "OPINION".

The server has PVP default, decided not by a consensus of few characters but by the majority of the server. So if it's not to your majesty's liking, you can go appeal in Uthrandir.

So it's toxic to have a disciplined military group that deals in RP as a group? Oh dear. Also, your "positive criticism" involves a plethora of discrimination and generalizing by calling all "Oren" "Hedgies"? #Drfate4president.

There's nothing wrong with the wording of either emotes. and thanks for also taking the time to go in depth with your term of denigration. Nicely done, mi friend. Also, we have rolls, it's called roll default, and there's some very blatant errors with it, but I won't take the time to explain them to you.

All the races on this world are born to war in one way or another. We're not a veteran PSTD care center, we're more mid-civil war united states, get rekt or get rekt mate. This is the bigger war, and tehre's no room for those who are weak, this is what is realistic, and not a GOT scrap-off. Also, again with the blatant insulting tone, condescending to say the least that you have kept throughout this entire "Positive Feedback" thread.

I think it's clear, drfate, that there's some key problems, and that is that I believe 0% of the population can agree to such an insulting stance. This is not an opinion, this is an outright insult and I believe the thread as a whole should be locked down as "noted" feedback, even if in my eyes it won't graze the chin of any staff member.

Emoting 'swings a sword' and 'attempts to swing a sword' are effectively the same and so long as no one is saying their swing hits they are both equally acceptable.

This isn't really positive criticism as you are just saying what you dislike about other people's characters. Yes, it's a common archetype, but there are many common types of characters that people play. So long as they're not powergaming it's fine. The last thing this server needs is another derogatory term to use on people whose rp we don't like.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread, and it will most likely be short lived. Just a heads up.
