Crowds would have gathered beneath the palace balcony, speaking quietly to one another as they gazed upwards, eyeing the small pedestal anxiously. The banners of Kharadeen would hang from the rails, still in the hot air of the Caliphate.

 

A moment or so would pass, the Caliphess taking a small step upwards, lightly clasping her bandaged hands before her as she looked to the crowd, Caliph Arlen Kharadeen someway to her left.

 

She'd begin to speak;

 

 

"Citizens of Al-Wakrah,

 

I call on you, to ask for your thoughts. We are in a difficult time, where our friendship and loyalty has been pushed further than ever before. We must pull together and unify, as people of this city. So I not only ask for your opinions, but your help. With the rebel insurgents only growing in number, we cannot afford to put more citizens at risk.

 

My husband and I want NEUTRALITY with Oren. We wish for peace to be within these lands once more. We wish for the previous Caliph’s decision to no longer hold us to ties we do not wish to keep. We wish to be free of this war and its impact, however, the thoughts of the people are not clear.

 

And so such, we ask of you to fill in a census, providing us your thoughts. All citizens of the Caliphate, excluding any other states of Vandergaun, are required to answer. Let your voices be heard!"

 

After speaking, Irsia would step back as her husband came forth, looking down at the congregation with a faint smile masking his tiredness.

 

“Many would say that I’ve not amounted to my father’s expectations when he gave me the title of Caliph. I was thrown into a war that could have been prevented years ago, but I do not dwell on the past for then how can I expect to better the future? The actions dealt towards Khalestine by the traitorous Qali spring only spread propaganda, saying that we are butchering our own people by bending the knee to the Dwed.” The Caliph lets out a deep sigh as he’d bring his hand to cover his face for a moment.

 

“I am a leader, both in religion and nation, yet there is one thing that Nafis Yar has failed to mention.

 

That I am, but only a man. A man alone cannot hope to satisfy the wishes of his followers. This man that stands before you was once a friend of Nafis. He took my brothers into HallowVale and showed them many qualities about themselves that they didn’t even know. Now because of the actions made by the former Caliph, a Qalasheen has made attempts on the life of my father and youngest brother, Alai. My other brother, Malik, has fell to the sword by an even closer rafiqi, Adil.

 

I am tired. I stand in between two roaring fires that would seek to consume us once a decision is made. Your voices matter, people of Vandoria. Do not be afraid to use them.”

 

And with that, Caliph Arlen Kharadeen would step down from the balcony, awaiting these voices.

Indeed so. Vanderguan was created to combat Oren, this is not needed. Nor is Vandoria. Vandoria was created for the joining of the Caliphate and its allies to Hallowvale. Hallowvale is no more. We should also leave behind Vandoria. It should just be the Caliphate and its vassals, as it once were.

No, this form of alliance is what will help everyone in the future if we all work together. It is better to work together against a future common enemy that defeinitely will one day attack us due to our different ways of worship, to Allah.

No, Oren has once already tried to sneak, rather loudly might I mind you, away from us, do you not see how troubling that is yourselves? This is clearly a message from Allah!

No, for they are most likely spies and/or terrorists from the so called Orenian Empire. If we continue to let them live, they may just take more than the land I call my home! They may as well just take my culture or my life! I cannot live without Allah!

If you do not see what is going on yourselves, you are all fools! Yes, there are problems with this war but think of the reason some of us choose to fight! They begin to take our land and then rally smaller men and women whom are not as educated as the rest into thinking the Dwarves and this war are wrong! It is not! If we falter now, who knows when we will be next!? It is better for us to strike as much of a blow as we can now before they call upon their religious head, whom if you already have heard, has called us all heretics! This is a disgrace to us more than anything!

 

Think of the implications of what would happen if we kneel now and continue to pray to Allah for protection, good harvests, and PEACE, all while the great and, again, 'Holy Oren Empire', knocks at down our gates, drag out our husbands and sons, use our women, and defile our places of prayer! Where will our allies be if we turn our backs now? The Dwarves may be defeated, they may not if this war ends through diplomacy, but what would that make all of us? We would be turning our backs on allies whom we shared blood and sword with, through thick and thin.

 

I just hope the people know what's better for us all rather than what's better for themselves.

Do you wish for neutrality within the war? Yes, following Sanctuary's example of complete neutrality the City of Al-Wakrah can be a hub for those disillusioned of war and become a safe place for those who don't wish to be caught up in it much like Sanctuary.
