With each rising of the sun we edge closer to the brink of war and apocalypse. I can smell the brimstone, hear the sharpening of spears, and feel the ground tremble beneath the march of armies… the noobs are coming.

 

Dust off the shelves of your empty homes, as many of them are going to have a use very soon. For those of us who will be heading straight into the maw of the duck horde I promise a hefty reward.

 

The purpose of this initiative is to familiarize our new ducklings with both the in-game environment as well as our forums. By the time you’re through with them they should be ready to be engaged and committed members of our community.

 

What do we do?

 

It is by no means simple, but when you see a registration message, send a message their way! Welcome them to our server and meanwhile head towards spawn to greet them personally and help them figure out some basic commands. These players don’t have a place to go so if you have got some sort of home to offer to them you can help guide them over to your settlement.

 

Once the player has got a home and a purpose you can direct them to this thread to talk about their experience. Make sure they mention your name, and it will go towards your tally!

Here’s a template to build on for all new players:
    Hi, I’m a <race>, I was helped by <X> and now I’ve got <a place to stay, a job, etc. etc.>

 

If we see your faces in Wandering Soul chat helping out our players, we will be marking your names down in a private document.

Rewards:

For each player introduced to the server you may choose one of the following:
- 250 XP and 200 minas.
- 400 minas.
- 500 XP.

 

You may choose to instead delegate this prize to your new buddy instead and they will receive triple the XP prize and the minas. :)

 

Noted activity in Wandering Soul chat is rewarded with 500 minas.

 

Grand Prizes

1st Place Prize: Skill tome of your choosing (10000XP) and 2000 minas.
2nd Place Prize: 1500 minas + 8000XP in chosen field.
3rd Place Prize: 1000 minas and 6000XP.
4th Place Prize: 1000 minas and 4000XP.
5th Place Prize: 1000 minas and 2000XP.

 

These top 5 prizes are on top of the bonus you get per player. This contest will be concluding in one month!

Tfw you need to induce a prize to get people to help newbies.

 

 

I've recently kept a new player my self from quitting the server because he saw a bad confrontation on another new player that included some really harsh words such as:

 

"Your the reason why this server is PVP Default"

 

"The AT need to check them selves because of you"

,that new players words? "So is this how roleplay is on Lord of the craft? This is pathetic." He was not even a day old, I had proceed to message him and help him get on his feet to make sure he didn't quit the server over such..

 

 

I don't think its just that some of us need more tolerance for newbies, but I think it's also that some of us need to learn how to chill the **** out sometimes. I've seen a lot of conflicts as of recent in the regards of new players in which involve some minor sort of bullying in regards.

 

But hey that's my 2 cents I like the idea.
