A Trial: Defender Default

I honestly don't understand how having the best computer and how fast you can click a mouse, is rp. You could train very hard in roleplay for fighting then just have it not count a single bit because you have a bad computer. That is not roleplay.

The difference pie is I can hit someone with a sword, kill them and take their stuff with "mechanical fighting" and that is it. The story ends there. Neither character gaining much from the experience because the conflict ended with a character loosing their memory of the event thus nothing can follow up from it. That is what is bad about PVP. It promotes ending stories before they've even begun. Imagine what would have happened if luke just straight up killed darth vader at cloud top in their first fight? The story would've practically ended there.

Which is where RP comes in. It bridges the gap and opens up new opportunities to continue on the conflict past the initial engagement. It promotes a running story.

PVP is just about ending the conflict as fast as possible, and on an RP server... that's just a terrible idea from an RP perspective. Regardless of what name you give the method the fact remains the same.

That's just wrong. If you organise things and discuss how to end interactions with maybe being injured rply, etc, it can. But of course, pvp is inherently savage and evil...

As RP is inherently tedius, powergamy and in need of full GM supervision. It all has it's flaws that everyone hates. And tbf, I rarely saw any other outcome from a pvp default other than either salt or a "gg wp" and then buzzing off, even though there were a few cases where that was not the case.

How often does that happen exactly Matt? From my four years of being here most of the time the two people who engaged in PVP hardly want anything to do with each other after the fight either because they lost items or something etc.

Of course you could just say RP isnt just about one person but a collaborative effort. But PVP ultimately isn't about collaboration is it? Most of the time and ironically many arguments I see that are pro PVP mention that they hate the idea with dealing with that person in any way but the fastest method possible, PVP.  So it stands to reason that the quantity of people involved in PVP are not out looking to collaborate with the other player afterwards anyways.

>gets mad when people generalize rp fighting as edgy elves backflipping and people doing eveything even if it's physically impossible to avoid dying
>generalizes pvp fighting as ((pvpdefault54321go)) with no rp

So now we're gonna experience situations where there are like 2-3 armoured people fighting 1 person and somehow the 1 unarmoured person wins the fight and slays all because they refuse to die.

We all know this is a secret way to implement rp default.

Maybe this'll enhance RP. Ever think of Rp development throughout fights? Think of the ghouls! THE GHOULS!

At the end of the day, it's the spooky ooga booga special magic people who enjoy RP default type stuff because they get to enjoy feeling artificially superior to everyone else. Not because 'rp is improved' or any of that smoke and mirrors bs. These are facts.

Its just a trial though, the fact that trials are now a thing is good.

The story only ends there if you make it end there. Contrary to popular belief, not all pvp scenarios end in one person killing the other. On the flipside, plenty of emoted fights end in one character dying and losing their memory. Dunamis was infamous for pvping people to knock them out and bring them back to their fort to continue the Rp. The people who would rather kill you instead of continuing the Rp by only injuring you would still kill you instead of injuring you should the fight be emoted instead of pvped, making the distinction there is not necessarily fair or accurate. Also, there will be situations where one character feels the need to kill another. Not all situations should end in both sides surviving the situation, so to say that is poor Rp is once again very one dimensional.

"These are facts" I actually only see opinions, but facts have evidence so I'm sure you'll produce it.

I don't need to, it's all over this thread.
