Back in Aegis I had found LOTC by googling minecraft roleplay, I was just coming around from the cesspool that was WoW RP and had been playing a lot of the half life series.

 

This resulted in a fairly comical situation where 13 year old me thought he was the bomb at role-play without a care in the world for lore. I ended up playing a scientist character donned in orange hazard suit, "Telanir Freeman" (some horrendous amalgamation of wizard scientist) and I over time I'd get to form a library and then manage a town called Talamh with Nero and a few others. I honestly don't know how I didn't get banned. It was damn great, I still remember hearing lightning and shouting out for all my kin to get in the damn bunkers, we'd cover in the basements for ages, hearts pounding.

 

That was the real deal for me, it felt so surreal and while we were all yet still learning how to roleplay well it was intensely enjoyable. I don't think anyone can say Aegis was really all that bad, we may have been cringeworthy or poor role players by today's standards but that's the thing—back then we didn't even care, you just kicked back and had fun.

 

I love the idea Danny, thanks for the throwback.

This community has been there during my ups and downs, some people IRL didn't stay at my side like this server has. This server has caused me to weep more than once; it has caused me to smile more than once. I'd like to thank everyone- not one group, not one person- everyone. This community is special in the grandest way.

I can't believe it's been so long. I was probably around 11 when I joined which is crazy, I forgot I was so young when I first joined in Asulon, lying about my age even though I knew people wouldn't make fun of me for it haha. Nonetheless I've grown up with this server already in high school now. It's crazy to think that I've been in this community before I was even in middle school, And now I'm in high school! Sure I've taken long breaks and haven't been consistent with it throughout the years but I always come back. This community holds a special place in my heart and to everyone I've rped with and talked with, you guys are great. Cheers to 5 years and let us continue to make this server even better.

- and then I joined in Aegis, not having actually read any of the lore at all. The first character I ever met was Deltaro Black (KarmaDelta) on the noticeboard in Laurelin. I joined the White Ravens originally, then the Mages Guild, and after my character had learned some basic magic he joined the duo of Vor'Kalan (Swgrclan) and Sheekah (Slic3man). We caused trouble here and there, killed a number of people, and while I was busy with that I met Elnir and Rilath (ShadowGunX) who taught my character Shade magic. Not long after that I joined the Dark Brotherood, arguably the most enjoyable guild I have ever been in on any game/platform, and whilst involved with that group I created my first golem with Arbrek Starbreaker (zac20169) - Raiga (originally named Diablo, played by Cookie9000)

 

There are many important people I didn't mention above because they were mainly friends of mine, they didn't advance Sala's story all that much. For the sake of it I'll mention a few of them here (Restricting the list to mainly Aegis)

I'm asulon born and my most nostalgic LOTC experiences are...

 

• when emeralds were money and i kept my life savings in a chest in a little hole under my delver hovel in Crestfall
• in elysium, trying to pugsy Cappy's frost witch when she attacked me because I was new to the concept of "RP fighting"
• Abundant delver salt and funtimes in Anthos

I remember walking the Kings Road as an ascended and fighting undead, running the first roadside tavern, fighting orcs who hated ascended, the petty wars between the races that only lasted a week, the guilds, the skills plugin.

 

Honestly I think the transition to Asulon and the summer of Asulon was some of the greatest times with the Orc Dwarf wars and the First Racial war with the Human Kingdoms all fighting and picking sides when Mog came into power.

 

I also remember corrupt GM spawning in items, destroying homes and players fun, the "hardcore" GMs who would ban or /kill people cause they thought their level of roleplay was better. Butting heads with GMs cause I wanted to defend the player first. 

 

Honestly the server will never be the same as those days back, the community on one TS instead of 10 separate ones, the old school events, undead that were actually scary haha (and smelled like fish).....

 

I was 17 when the server started and was my 2nd server experience. Loved it, it was so much fun when I finally got TS and first talked to some of the first dwarves... god the good times.
