Your View: Transition Events

DISCLAIMER: Does this thread mean we are close to a map change? Truth be told, I have no idea. I am not personally involved in the creation of the next map, so I can’t really say one way or another. However, I do believe that it is crucial that we receive player input ahead of time before we get to the point of no return, so to speak.

So let's get right down to it. What is your view on map transition events?

Questions to consider:

What kind of event would you like to see?

Would you rather see the descendants pushed off our current land, or giving incentive to move themselves?

If you want to be pushed off, how so? If you want incentive, what would that be?

How should we travel to the next map (boat, portal, etc)?

Please let us know your thoughts on the matter and we’ll be more prepared for the next transition when it comes up.

What kind of event would you like to see?: world eating worm Slowly approaching ice age

Would you rather see the descendants pushed off our current land, or giving incentive to move themselves?: Incentive

If you want to be pushed off, how so? If you want incentive, what would that be?: The discovery of warmer, fertile lands leading the descendants to colonize the new new new new new new new new new new world.

How should we travel to the next map (boat, portal, etc)?: Boats I suppose, or whatever the races figure out will be the best way to escape the frozen seas and lands.

I think like an event that makes the Vailor really dangerous and pushes people off of it would be interesting. We could have an invading race though this is probably stretching it or maybe like a plague of some sort even though I'm not sure how that would be implemented.

Just get us to the new map. Transition events are just waiting periods for most players until the new map is a thing.

I think jonas' idea is good. Start it now, have cold descend slowly south or north or whatever.

We should be tying together the book events and the portals from the ancient elves. This server has far too often kept events exclusive or in the dark and the lore for these maps is often half arsed and forced to us. I'd like to see you complete events, not start new ones. And if your events never included an end that's the best part, you can write one in.

Would you rather see the descendants pushed off our current land, or giving incentive to move themselves?

Maybe escape through one of these portals to a new land?

How should we travel to the next map (boat, portal, etc)?

This sounds like something nice, the whole end of the world thing with dark stuff is a bit dull!

Basically something that is more slow but equally dangerous and not like some overlord or dragon.

Would also want to see fragments of the old map, small landmasses available for example (ice age scenario) then you would be able to discover remnants of the old world, the massive trees of wood elf forest, frozen in time and only the top of the tree visible.

I want a clean map transition without hours of "boat rp"

I wanna see an exhaust of minerals from mines, trees die off animals and crops die.

We have scarred Vailor much and the orchish purple stuff didnt help.

Would you rather see the descendants pushed off our current land, or giving incentive to move themselves?

Incentive/pushed off were not being forced to leave Vailor, but it would make life alot easier

If you want to be pushed off, how so? If you want incentive, what would that be?

A better warmer place, weve got a ton of snowy mountains I'd like to see some jungles and tropical islands would be cool to live in the tropics.

How should we travel to the next map (boat, portal, etc)?

Boats

Just do the thing the witcher does and slowly have an all encompassing white frost swallow up all worlds, forcing the descendents to forever migrate over and over.

Honestly, my character can only survive so many worldly apocalypses before my suspension of disbelief is shattered, so world-transition events are more something we just gotta power through than take the time to make intricate and detailed.

I don't have any opinion on what the actual event should be or how/why we leave to the next world but please don't make the event itself too long or force us to rp on the boats or anything similar. Most people just logged off after a few minutes of the last transition event and had to wait a while to get into the new world/realm.

Event idea, SUPER VOLCANO that shows up on avar or in ocean in the middle of the map. It makes the air unbreathible and slowly covers all of valior is smoke and ash. Forcing everyone off valior. Also because it's happening so sudden we should depart through portals.

If we're gonna do a map transition event lets not make it one that the druids could fix with a rolled up newspaper if not for plot armor (I'm looking at you, Atheran Bullworm). I like the idea of encroaching ice age, actually. Gradually expand the snowy regions on the map until they consume everything and we're forced to pack up and bail.

One similar to Aegis in which the map's 'transition' is tangible. Sort of like how the undead crept  over the map until nothing was left.

Would you rather see the descendants pushed off our current land, or giving incentive to move themselves?

Pushed off

If you want to be pushed off, how so? If you want incentive, what would that be?

Look at the first question

How should we travel to the next map (boat, portal, etc)?

I don't believe this matters

Perhaps the undead could have been the ones causing the ice age on thales somehow and now they've been drawn to Vailer? Perhaps they invade? Perhaps the descendants are displaced by another fertile population due to them being poorer and thus having a push factor for leaving their continent. As such, the descendants could possibly settle another land to preserve their civilizations? Oh wait...

What kind of event would you like to see?

For main events Something not cliche. As under I'll say more.

I want events that will actually leave impact on people not something easily forgotten like most events. I actually want us to lose against a antag not win. But losing as we are out numbered and outwitted. We have numbers and nations, Even special groups. If you wanna do an antag that will actually win. Make them start crushing the small groups. Do things slyly. Wipe and crush the small important places.
During war times when nations are busy fighting each other, that's a great time to strike while they are distracted. Don't make the goal so clear and add twist to it. Maybe the group we thought was so high and mighty, the ones who we saw as good guys were actually lying to us and it was part of a great scheme.

Would you rather see the descendants pushed off our current land, or giving incentive to move themselves?

An question to your question with a question . Why do we ALWAYS have to run away? We have nations that can work together to fight off the big monster, addition to Clerics,Paladins,Ascendeds,Druids, Monks, Mages, and spooks that will fight the big monster. Why do we always have to run away? Is there not a fight back option ?(went against what I said before)

If you want to be pushed off, how so? If you want incentive, what would that be? If were pushed off I would rather us have a dark world where everything is in complete ruins and we actually have to fight to survive and stay in a depression and struggle. It would bring more story to those who survive and can tell the story. Not always "That one time we took a boat or portal and ended up here."
Too played out. Maybe us playing in a bad realm, starting from the bottom and ending on top.

How should we travel to the next map (boat, portal, etc)?

Enough with the same boats and Portals. Get something new and we haven't done before..
