Sudden departure

Normally I would hate to say this but… I am leaving LOTC for a few months.

Well, why? It’s because currently I am suffering immense issues at home, which I have decided to finally gain the confidence to face, as well as try and get my life back on track. Honestly, my personal life hasn’t been in good condition and looking back now, I’ve honestly been bad to myself since I am rubbish when it comes to taking care of myself. I just need time to work things out for myself before I end up doing something really idiotic to myself.

 

Also, it’s not just real life. LOTC… well, it’s become far too chaotic and corrupted in some areas, losing what made it special to me when I joined. When I first joined back in Athera, it was truly fun, the rp was great and hilarious (#NeverForgetDrunkenMonkTaven), and I actually didn't mind the forums of the staff since everything was fine. If anything, I really enjoyed it and I was looking forward to seeing many more wonders and creative RP. However, as time went on, I begun to see the more corrupted and bad side to LOTC, how everyone tends to be salty with the other on situations that could have been sorted out with better interactions, how everythings seems to be taken as a meme instead of everyone actually being serious and at least thoughtful with their replies (I am even betting there will be some people, ad just how people talk about others in the horrible ways instead of considering the other person’s feelings.

 

Plus, being within the lore team, I just got to see how restricted everything is, how apparently everything demanded an explanation, how something that can bring some unique and interesting roleplay can be denied just because it holds some similarities to a real game or if the idea just sounds stupid to a particular staff member. If anything, LOTC is just restricting all the creativity and uniqueness it should have as a roleplay server, not everything should be explained (such as how air works, or what truly is lifeforce) but should be left as mysteries to add some interest to roleplays regarding them. I had hoped to join the Lore team in order to try and help stop  this issue, try and give some unique and fun roleplay to the users, even just small little events where I can just let people have fun. Sadly, I have failed that, especially when the Lore Team’s plex got removed, and I soon just began to lose interest.

 

At this point now, LOTC is now just full of OOC fights, countless limitations, and just salt… something that a roleplay server should not be. You may comment here now, telling me to just tell a GM about these situations, actually try and fix them myself and such… but I lost all faith in the GMs and Admins after the situation regarding Zer0 since they essentially got rid of someone who was truly a good friend of mine from the server for no reason. I was left fearing for his life as for why he was banned was something that could have harmed him if he was innocent… I was scared he would have gone into extreme measures because of what he was accused of.

 

(honestly, that evidence can easily be faked due to being on the internet, lies are hard to notice when they are texted, you should have contacted him about this situation, and got his view on the story, not just banned him without warning or a talk with him… I know, the situation is serious… but you should have gained his side of the story, not reacted instantly and banned him without actually considering his feelings and views on this... yes, I may be going overboard, but I know Zero did nothing wrong. )

 

And how can I do something about these issues if people will shrug it off as a meme? As just rubbish? As just a cry for attention? That I am overreacting? Or just do nothing? In the end, I’ve just lost so much hope in LOTC… and being on it now has become more of a chore and hell for me, rather than the experience I hoped it would be when I first joined. I know just saying this won’t do anything… but I just hope it would open some people’s eyes and that they will try and fix the things I can’t.

 

I will be leaving a few months to fix my life and I may return to LOTC, if of course I actually gain the will to at this rate. If not, I will be posting up posts regarding my characters in the future, and maybe another post. I may post up one or two lore pieces up, since I am still an LM and I do at least want to lend some help. As for what happened to my characters:

 

- Elvira is currently attending an issue regarding a necromancer on a village within Vailor (not an actual IG village) alone.

- Azariah has moved somewhere more secret and secure so that she can raise Silvyr Sarr, hers and Neero's child, safely and without fear.

- Beta, my homunculus, is pretty much dead.

 

Regardless, I just want to say this. I am not sure if I may or may not return from my absence but just thanks to everyone for the roleplay. I’ll likely be away for a few months but I will keep active on the forums to keep up with things, as well as posting some things when I truly have to. So don't think I've fully gone.

Some thanks and apprications

To the clerics users

All of you are great roleplayers for the clerics, even if we may have had one or two ooc clashes. Frankly, I felt as though the clerics were like a family at one point where we shared laughs, helped others through issues, and were just good friends. I know that when I’ve stepped up as leader, I may have been rubbish… but that’s because that was my first time leading an order and… well I just likely did nothing because I was panicking on what to do. Despite my absence for a while, I’ll still try and help you all out the best I can through skype and lore.

 

To Ascended and paladin users

It has been great being able to meet and work alongside both you guys, as well as helping out in a range of roleplay situations and just having some laughs once in awhile. But I just want to ask you guys to at least be somewhat considerate on people you roleplay with, such as their views on ascendeds and paladins, and actually try and make ascended and paladin roleplay fun for characters who are not any of these two. But hey, that’s just me.

 

To the dark users,

Like the clerics, you are all great roleplayers, especially Aerialkebab and one two others, and we did have some fun OOC banter moments. When I became a cleric, I knew oocly that I should not be bias with you, so I’ve done all I can to remain neutral and considerate. Sure, there may have been times we did have clashes, but I do care about those I roleplay with. If anything, you lot provided me with some interesting rp moments and injuries, and some good character development. So I’ve tried to at least try and return the favour to you all. Shout out to when Elvira was held captive, that was fun to do.

 

The LM Team

Thank you for at least helping me to understand how lore managing works, as well as what occurs behind the lore we read. Will admit, it’s quite fun being a lore master and helping out people, although we still have a long way to go and a few issues to handle, such as trying to actually open up to more ideas and stop being so restricted with lore. I’ll remain with the lore team until when I officially decide to leave.

Yep, you get a section all to yourself, mate. I just want to say a huge thank you for being the first staff member to help me, as well as just helping me to settle into the server. If it wasn’t for you, heck… I probably would have lost interest. Also, thanks for the incredible roleplay we had throughout Athera, it’s both sad yet nostalgic looking back on those times now and seeing just how much Elvira has progressed since then. Regardless, keep up the good work, mate!

I know you won’t read this due to what happened, but I want to post this here for all to see. Just… thank you for helping me throughout my rough times, including my depression months, and just helping me to regain my smile. I am saddened by the action that was taken by the GMs and admins and I wished they did far more than just see evidence as immediate truth and refused to talk to you. No matter what, you’re my best friend and just thank you for everything. If anything, I am glad you’re doing better now than those dark times…

To everyone I roleplayed with, whenever it be healing, combat, or just general, just thanks for providing me with a range of roleplay situations and I hope you’ll all keep doing well! I know many will be saddened by my leave but… I have my reasons as you can see.

We never really spoke, but I always aspired to be a lot more like you when I was working my way up into becoming an LM. It's sad to see you go over such petty bullshit, but some of it gets to us. We've all had our days where we lost hope, and then a couple days, weeks, or months later down the line we see something that bring backs that spark. Whether or not that will happen for you is out of the question, but your contributions to this community as a whole will be missed.

 

It was fun knowing you, as little as we did interact among my 4 different accounts.

Wow, even though i've really only seen you at CT I can tell your a very real speaker. I completely agree that the way things have gone are putting the server into utter chaos and players are constantly becoming more and more dissatisfied with it. I have also thought about leaving until 5.0 but it seems people like having better advantages, triggering others, and just have a disgusting will to constantly keep on winning. I appreciate this post very much.
