I recommend handing off the twitter to @Hunwald.  He was bragging about his 5 retweets the other day.

Many people put a lot of their time into this server - be it to roleplay, build, etc.

Why is it so embarrassing for friends and family to know that you enjoy something like this?

Adults are allowed to play video-games and have fun... Everyone's allowed to have things they enjoy and do.

If your friends were to look at you different, drop you, or whatever, just because you played on a Minecraft RP server...

You probably have to reconsider your friendship. Your family really shouldn't care either way, and if anything should be encouraging you.

If you're embarrassed of the server yourself, why? Because of the sort of people on it?

They don't reflect upon you if you don't associate with them. Just sharing a server doesn't make you one of them.

Maybe though... you're embarrassed of how you behave on this server...

Then that's really up to you to change.

I mean, I don't even use Facebook, but Lego kinda hit the nail on the head in my opinion. If other forms of social media are added, I'd be more inclined to take part maybe.

Everyone's different and you cant just tell everyone to drop their friends because they don't want to tell them what they do on their past times. All people can be proud if they want, but others would rather it not impact the way that their real life friends see them (if it even does) because its just a waste of time to be honest to even try to do all this weird hashtag **** on social media. Incentives? Sure. But for how long do you want to keep up with something that may not even work? Input will not meet output effort wise. I could honestly see my friends getting more mad than judgemental that im spamming twitter with incomprehensible ****. There's a time and place for stuff.

It's like the difference between people who share their knee expansion fetishes and people who don't. Sure you like it and should be proud you like it but if it were me who liked it like **** if youd find me sharing some art i decide to draw of knee expansion and share my group on social media and expect no one to judge me BECAUSE IM MY OWN MAN AND MY MOMMA GOTTA LOVE WHAT I DOS. Once again, time and a place. This is what minecraft forums used for advertising are for: finding like-minded individuals who have an interest in the #1 MINECRAFT FANTASY ROLEPLAYING EXPERIENCE rather than randos on social media who will probably not even BOTHER to look at these weird ass hashtags that say #lotc.

obviously my argument is as flawed as yours is, but we're all entitled to our opinions. If like 99% of everyone posting in this thread is wrong and lotc does somehow benefit from this in some way, then congrats, you can say i told you so. But everyone's here entitled to their opinions about this project and the fact that it relies so heavily on community participation is a large error in y'alls part, considering like only two of these posts have been supportive in any way. Which leads to MY own personal issue with this whole thing, the fact that such a poor target group was picked for this 'social media project'.

This is all assuming that the main goal is to advertise and get new players tho. Updates may be nice but it's much easier to ask 'whats this about?' in a skype chat (or even read the post itself because let's be real... It ain't that hard)

a sincere good luck with the media tho, read!
