How to be Evil?

Greetings LotC, it's been a long time since the times of Aegis where people could become sizable threats or aids in the balance of good and evil (Undead/Ascended)! Thus as a personal endeavour, I wish to attain the position as an evil-doer. Though, you may as yourself: "Charles, can't you simply just get a weapon and attack people in RP?" in which I would rebuttal, "Yes, yes I can. But..." And that is what this post is about! We're all familiar with most player evil-doers getting pounded by many heroes present! Therefore, I wish to ask you all...

  • How can I be strong enough to handle 3-5 people at once, more so, can it be done?
  • Can a player, such as myself, be allowed access to commands which can aid in PvP situations. Something simple as summon skeletal minions?
    • Could I use such abilities to hassle the local peasantry & run 'events',
  • Can I be considered an 'Actor' and should I make an ET app in order to attain ultimate evil?
  • Is there a group of evil-doers who are really causing trouble around Axios these days?
    • Do the Staff help them obtain their evil goals like the rumors have foretold?
  • What lore can I get access to, is it possible to achieve this all right of the bat or do I need to spend months building up the potential for evil?
    • As a footnote, having experienced ascendancy to Clerical Itharel-ship was a long difficult process! One which was wrought with OOC problems of access which I don't have time for this time around!

Any and all input pertaining the subject would be appreciated. If you require clarity on any of the aforementioned let me know!

Alas, due to my university schedule I only have the time-frame of today to January 9th to achieve my current goals. Thus, is it even possible?

Hi, for starters I think I should say that even though I only started playing in Vailor (Last map). I think villain RP has changed quite a bit since Aegis.

It's not as easy nor desirable to be a villain anymore as RP is a lot more balanced in terms of combat and I believe the magics are too.

We're on Axios now too and its really quite big which also causes villains to shy away a bit.

The Undead VS Ascended is still a thing but its just like a pest fighting another group and most of the server ignores it unless a group of Ghouls come to attack a random place every week or so.

And yeah, if you wanted to do events and stuff like that I'd recommend applying for ET Actor. The PEX helps a huge amount and it is generally accepted that an ET decides the flow of RP in an event, compared to when a player creates their own small ones. It also gives you access to a wide range of different possibilities the normal player couldn't really do.

If you want to find out about lore click the big "LORE" button up top, it's easy to navigate and you can find almost anything you need know.

EDIT: Overall things have improved in their own ways and RP is a bit more serious and easier to get into, the general quality of it is much better as well. I'd suggest going with a normal character into Axios, and just RP for a couple of weeks until you get fully used to how things are, then make further steps to cause havoc. Feel free to speak to me if you have anything to ask.

Hello as some people know I play the character "Evark" who has been around since Aegis. Although I agree with some points here as the person has said above, a lot of things have changed.

You need to learn how to adapt to your environment, you cannot go around anymore and be a big threat as a villain, you need to take a more hidden approach or change the way your character does things. As the playerbase doesn't find casual villains fun anymore take the wood elves for example having to put up the barrier to stop spooks.

You'll need to adapt to the surrounding environment and ask "What is fun for people" rather "What can I do to have fun" which is the philosophy that ruins role play.

I'm impressed that there are still OG evil-doers from the back when times, so far all this information's been useful! I should get to compiling it into a compendium for myself. I must agree @Evocress, making evil fun for all is certainly vital. But how can I ensure that my evil deeds wouldn't be spoiled & should I contact people before describing what may happen or when it is appropriate to act? The biggest thing I can think of is certainly not interrupting people roleplaying!

Edit: Also how can I keep track of hot-spots for RP? Is there a way I can get this sort of information IG, since it's quite difficult to travel without the proper means: ie, provisions & directions.

The best way I do it, is I message people prior through a /t if they'll like to be put into a villain scenario (Be it with SP or in general) and if they say no. Then I don't interfere with them. Though if they're in a group you can ask the next and next and next unless the person/people say specifically that they want the RP undisturbed then you can leave them alone.

Keep it vague, don't tell them what you want to do specifically. Broad terms as "kidnapping, torture, victim of magic" ext.

-

That also being said keeping it fun for yourself also just means to find a willing participant but then also do rp that you both enjoy. Of course if it's ripping the flesh and eyes out until death that's kinda F*cked up and you need help. Though as a general rule do the above. One of my own personal rules which I believe boosts villain roleplay is "No killing" you want people to remember you and possibly fear you, if the only time I think death is acceptable if it's within a medium to large group (4+) so that the people will remember you regardless of the outcome.

That also being said... Remember to leave an impression.

Alright gotcha @Evocress, tricky question then. How do you deal with RP when your character dies after an encounter? Since the party that righteously embattled you survived and know you, but you no longer know them!

Forget the encounter ever happened. If they bring it up- they remember you and you made that impression. Death shouldn't be something you try to avoid so often, it happens as they don't see the same philosophy as what villains should be accounted towards.

My character was killed yesterday I believe by Artimic(Leowarrior) while captive in his cell. Why was I captured? I had an impression on his character which has lasted several IRL years and others. I might not remember every encounter OOC'ly or RP'ly (Bad memory) though you shouldn't be against dying.

Though if you do die, personally for myself I avoid that area for about 1-2 IRL weeks and if I am in the area no villainous things until the time is up.

'Evil' is a dumb concept

Your character should be objectively neither good or evil. It should be entirely subjective. Not in the 'haha he's just a psycho who likes killing' but a 'oh wow so he does this fucked up **** for a good reason hmmph makes you think '

I don't see the issue with that. I mean nowadays the big spooks are indestructable; anyway, by choosing to become some special villain then you also have to acknowledge that you will be screwed over by the heroes of the player base lmao. Not really a problem but more of a condition.

Anything can be achieved, but make your character relatable and real.

No need to be so black and white.

It's really down to your creativity. For instance, my Orc Shaman caused the End of Vailor by spreading Disease and summoning the Spirit of Disease, Orgon.

But that was very difficult, and took a lot of work even for the minor details.

Naaah, not that hard.

Just get a couple of bored Shamans, stick them in a locked room and have them praise one spirit, or else they don't get fed.

Bob's your uncle and Axios has been destroyed.

Simple!
