Where's the consistency on coups?

Let's compare the Felsen coup to Arteh's coup today.

Felsen coup:

  • Had legitimate RP. It wasn't even OOCly discussed or planned at all, we just came in wanting to kill the Head Steward for trying to seize our power, and after he rallied the rest of Oren to defend him, we ended up seizing the city.
  • We held the city for several hours during peak.
  • We fought and defeated an Orenian army trying to take it back.

Result: We got kicked from region ownership despite there being no mechanism for that at the time, and then we all lost region perms and were forced to leave.

Arteh's coup:

  • No RP at all. He just logged on, got a few guys and walked into Metz. Job done, GG wp. The people they were couping weren't even online and had no chance to react.
  • He didn't hold the city for any decent length of time at all, he just went in and closed all the gates before leaving. He also did it way outside of peak time.
  • He didn't fight any Lorrainean or Rebellion forces and, before you say that's their own fault, they had no time to attack since they were all insta-kicked from the region and the "coup" was done outside of peak times.

Result: Arteh kicked all the other region owners without following the procedure given by the rules(https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/153354-nation-leader-rule-addition/) which state that a minimum of a week's notice must be given, and that you can refuse and go into open rebellion.

Where's the ******* consistency? Why do GMs go against the established rules to prevent some coups, and then go against them to allow others? Why not just follow the ******* rules? What Arteh did is explicitly against the rules and amounted to just being a region snipe, yet it's allowed. When the Felsen Watch did a far and away more legitimate coup, the GMs did the then unprecedented act of removing a region owner to prevent it.

As an Orenian I gotta acknowledge the very valid points being made, and James is right.

However, the point being made seems to be that Arteh was primary region owner, while in Felsen that system didn't exist. Moreover, that's a pretty shitty ******* system, so I think it's important to set up a system that's not awful for the future.

Arteh was not primary owner.

Babadooks was Duke of Lorraine- Arteh was just a knight who was telling him what to do.

Yes, breaking raid rules.

And having Arteh break a region rule is ok? How did he even get primary region ownership? Babadooks was the primary region owner, who removed him? A GM perhaps?

Why do you get mad at a man for using the acknowledged proper mechanisms for handling a situation like this?

What Arteh did was found to be proper by the GMs and by the rules alike, so I'm not sure why you're getting up in arms about this.
