Orenian forces engage the forces of Mordring in what would prove to be the final battle against the undead and victory at last.

“Leopold, this is bigger than all of us, It is time for you to guard the west from the threats to come, for this is no longer of the concern of the Empire but of the world, if the West falls. We all fall with it. Defend it with your life, and secure a future for mankind.”

-Emperor John III Owyn

The purple and black banners appeared first over the hill, hoisted high above the marching soldiers the men slowly came into view the morning sun glistening off the finely polished plate helms that adorned their heads. It had been nearly three weeks since Emperor John V Frederick dispatched the military forces of the Empire from the current capital of Mardon. The time for hiding from this scourge was over, soon the entire force peaked over the icy hill and men began to relay orders along the line. Slowly but surely the staunch men of the Empire clad in Orenian colors formed up into their lines of battle, from their vantage point they could see all the way to Bastion and out in the cold tundra stood their enemy, the undead had to outnumber a good fifty to one and despite a few shudders and foul words the men stood strong. The undead that lumbered about in the plain below quickly took notice and an undead captain sounded his horn. The men on the hill stood still, disciplined yet eager they awaited their orders. As the undead began to head towards them starting up the hill the word was passed down the line as men began to yell “Charge!” “Ave Orenia!” “For Bastion!” “Death to Mordring!” The men lowered their spears at an angle as they began to charge down the hill. The undead forces showed no signs of stopping as they raced up the large hill. With no signs of falter or halt the Orenian soldiers continued their charge to meet the undead head on. Cracks and clanging echoed throughout the mountains as the Orenian spear wall met the undead force head on, the recently resurrected corpse tumbled back down the hill as the rest of Mordring’s forces pushed no regard for their own preservation as they ran right into the various polearms, spears and pikes of the men of Oren. “Onwards!” The officers cried from their mounts as Orenian soldiers continued their push, though some fell gloriously for their Emperor the unrelenting force of Oren was unwavering and they pushed on driving the undead back and onto even ground. Though their original push was successful the Imperial momentum began to slow. There were too many to defeat in a spear charge and the commanders quickly ordered their men to draw, and that they did. With quick speed and prayer men of the Empire drew their swords and began to cut into the mass of undead soldiers, taking retribution for the destruction of Bastion men of the west who made up part of the army lost themselves in rage as they hacked and slashed with unrelenting fury. The Undead captain could be heard as he screeched to his forces “KILL THEM! SPARE NONE!” However his words were drowned out by the battle cries of the Imperials as they continued their advance slowly but surely. But the left flank began to falter as the Undead committed their giants to the battle, the Orenian commanders quickly countered this committing a portion of the right flank to the left but their momentum was lost. Despite the strong will of the Men they were on the verge of being pushed back themselves. “Stand Strong, fight! FIGHT!” men cried as they dug their boots into the ground committed in their cause and mission. Through the commotion of battle a brass horn quickly sounded as the ground began to shook, stealing a few glances to the east the Mardonian Kingsguard Cavalry raised their banners as they charged over the ridge and thundered down the snowy slope angled to flank the undead from behind. The undead focusing their attention to the battle at hand paid no attention until it was too late, with lances up the purple draped horses of the Kingsguard cavalry slammed into the rear of the undead on the right flank. With screeches from the undead and whining of the horses steel crashed upon steel as the left undead flank completely collapsed, quickly being enveloped and cut down, the Orenian right flank quickly wheeled around as it charged into battle alongside the left flank. The giants began to fall as the undead lines began to waver, with a final concentrated push the Imperial soldiers pushed through and the undead forces fell into complete disarray.

With speed and precision the orenian forces pushed and the last of the undead fell. The snow crimson with the rust colored deathlike blood of Mordring’s forces mixed with the bright red of Orenian soldiers, Soon enough the wounded were being tended to as Imperial banners were being planted in the snow, soldiers lifted the helms from their heads as they looked off into the distance past the tundra, they could see no movement on the battlements of the fallen Bastion, The dead were forced back and Mordring finally driven off this world. Some men broke down crying, the goal to which they committed their lives to, finally complete. A goal to which many had sacrificed and given parts of themselves to. A goal set many years ago by an aging Emperor as one of his final decrees. A goal of noble intent, finally completed. King Caius and the rest of the men of the Westerlands could finally rest easy  in the seven skies as the West once again fell into Human hands, and the world was once again safe...

Nicolas scratched his head, doubting the truth of this message, seeing as the undead pulled out of the Westerlands without any Orenian assault forcing them to.

Orenian forces promptly get flanked from the back by the honorable Sir Dyno'goi, viscount of Goi and supreme overlord of lesser scorpion based creatures.

((I'm sorry. These forces did not drive out the undead and Mordring, so this post holds no merit at all. Unless this is some form of false propaganda being spread through roleplay, I don't believe a post like this should even remain on the Forums as it records events that never occured.))

Victoria Maria would ponder at the rumors of this 'battle'. "Well, Opal...my cousins certainly have a good imagination..." The young Ascended would look to her plant-like mentor before continuing her research on aviary breeding.
