Guilds don't have anything to do with how properly the magic is RP'd, it's just a group of magi, nobody is threatening to remove your guild through making everything neutral. Eliminate wars". Anything confrontational will be controversial but confrontation is the life blood of plots. Besides, if you have a magic meant to counter something, it's going to be confrontational. I guess you're saying to change the countering. However, I think that would neuter holy organizations.
