Ser Uther went on a journey through a forest. Soon he heard a hideous growling and howling and roaring and snorting right ahead of him. He hastened along his way and soon came upon a lion and a dragon engaged in a terrible battle. The dragon had attacked the lion. He wished to drag him off to his cave and eat him.

The poor lion, strong as he was, made no match for the dragon. Already the dragon was pulling him along by the tail and breathing fire on him. As soon as Ser Uther saw how the fight was going, he made up his mind to kill the dragon.

Ser Uther took the hatchet of Ser Hakon Ruric and the shield of his father Balder Grimlee.  He charged into the fight, holding his shield out as the dragon breathed fire towards him, his shield having the flames go around protecting him from the immediate heat his armor making him sweat. Uther through his shield down as the dragon finished with his flames, he brought his hatchet out to strike the dragons head, as he brought it to meet the dragons head, its teeth sank into Uther’s other arm.  Ser Uther sank down to his knees trying to remove the dragon’s head, once taken out of his arm, all that was left was the teeth, but it was too late, Uther had lost a lot of blood.

Ser Uther quickly whistled for a bird, a bird swooped towards him. Uther held out the Hatchet to the bird to take, saying Norland. The bird struggled to carry the Hatchet all the way to Norland but did it bringing the Hatchet to his eldest son. Uther’s son knew that since the Hatchet was away from Uther, his father was killed. Norland one of the last men remaining who defended the krag from the dwed, stories stating he killed 100 dwed that day.
