Bygone Glory

Farewell to our Orenian fame,
Farewell our bygone glory;
Farewell e'en to the Oren name,
So famed in martial ballad.
Now Oren reigns over shattered lands,
To mark where Oren renown used to stand
Such a bundle of miscreants in a nation!
What force or guile could not subdue,
Through many warlike ages,
Is wrought now by a ruling whimpering few
For foolish indulgence concerned.
The enemies steel we could disdain,
Secure in valour's station;
But foolish rule has been our bane -
Let rogues and cheats prognosticate
Concerning prince or empire fate
I think myself to be as wise
As he that gazeth on the skies
My sight goes beyond
The depth of a sea
Or rivers in the greatest rain
Whereby I can tell
That all will be well
When he enjoy's his own again

"I understand." Said Guillaume de Savoie as he looked o'er the papers. He'd then walk off, humming and heartedly singing a song reminding him of the scribe's tenure.
