An unknown artist’s rendition of Urguan’s surrender to High King Verthaik II Frostbeard.
19th of the Grand Harvest, 1636

A wave of laughter and joy flittered through the wind as the gates were heaved open and the red haired Dwarf entered. As he walked through the halls of Kaz’Ulrah’s capital, he looked around in wonder as the city bustled with energy - positive energy. To his right beardlings sat in the Tavern whilst listening to tales of glory and fame, whilst to his left the clinking of hammers against the anvil echoed. He was perplexed, where had all this been in Kal’Omith? Had he missed something?

As he entered the throne room, everyone quickly moved to their position, and he was led forward before High King Verthaik II Frostbeard.

“What brings yeh here, Fili Grandaxe?”

Fili straightened himself out as he addressed the High King of Dwarves.

“Ah’ve come to surrender, but with a few terms.”

Stroking his beard, High King Verthaik II Frostbeard glanced around the packed room. He heard jeers demanding unconditional surrender, and others which called for a swift end to the war. With a determined look he turned back to Fili. They spoke and settled on a series of terms.

The holds of Arcadia, Kal’Sitare and the Desert Fort, would remain independent, but would not be allowed to form any sort of confederation, nor would they be allowed to undermine the Kingdom of Kaz’Ulrah in any way. Doing so would breach the treaty and evoke instant war.

The simple folk of the former Grand Kingdom of Urguan would be allowed to leave if they so wished, in peace with their belongings, unharried by the forces of Kaz’Ulrah.

All kind Dwedmar who wished to live within the Kingdom of Kaz’Ulrah would be accepted.

The rest of Urguan’s territory, treasury and relics would be handed over to the Kingdom of Kaz’Ulrah. Any group found with the armor of Urguan will return it to the rightful heir of Urguan, High King Verthaik II Frostbeard, under the pain of death if caught and potential war.

After a few formalities, Fili turned and left. Within the stone day, Urguan’s treasury, lands and line of rule had been transferred to High King Verthaik II Frostbeard.

As Fili left, a wave of pride overcame Verthaik. He had ensured that Kerwyr’s sacrifice was not for nothing, and that his words rang true.

With a grin on his face he stepped down from his throne to celebrate the end of the war and the start of a new era.

“For decades, the self proclaimed leaders of the Dwedmar have misguided our people and led them to ruin. The Dwedmar were once regarded by all as a race of honorable beings, and even as the rulers of the world at one point. We have fallen far from that pedestal and have much work to do before we can reclaim our rightful position in the world we live in. From this day onwards, we will only improve further and further. We shall enter an age of prosperity and peace now. We shall stand strong and great in times of war.  It is time for the Beardling to mean something in the near future, to give a chance to our less-experienced Dwedmar. A new system full of chances. From this day onward, everything will change in a better way.”

Urguan had been conquered.
