Recent Concerns and Administrator Expectations

Recommended Posts

Will something actually happen to tackling down pedophiles and ERPing degenerates? The thread is sugar coated with good words and some promises but other than making the perpetrator's name known, there is no plan for any further action. Same issue with admin communication. Whether you open up a forum for feedback or not, it'll all just echo whatever we have already written in the feedback section while Telanir laughs at the community doing nothing.

Good initiative, but with the risk of sounding toxic the issue is I don't want to see this from you. I want to see admins do some work for once, to actually do ANYTHING about the latest controversies(not just the pedo one). Knowing how telanir and 501 laughs and belittles the community in staff chat I seriously doubt that'll happen but a man can dream.

It's sad to see the admins being so lazy they put a guy like marimba in front of themselves as a meatshield.

The second step should not have people joking about this in public ooc.. it churns my stomach to watch but in the end..?

"Thou only hast so much power, every being holds a limit."

Shitposters aside, to some everything's a joke until the target lifts above their heads, it's appalling.

This position is good step, but if your sole purpose is to give us a TL:DR of the week on LOTC then it’s a little useless as most of us already know. I hope that your role will expand to two way communication, and by that I mean you won’t simply be informing us of admin descisions but you’ll also be tasked with handing them our criticisms and ideas.

The last time that stands out for me when admins publically addressed the community through a q&a livestream about controversy, was that whole duck YouTuber. And the admins proceeded to tell us they were paid $80081.35 for catering to them.

Or otherwise known as BOOBIES.

And then stuck to it lol

My dad actually walked into my room as I was reading this post, but I luckily closed the tab before he noticed "Pedophilia" on the screen.

My dad walked into my room and said "keep fighting the nonces son"

First, great post. Like seriously, A+.

Second, I feel like the recent sarcastic demeanor from 501 didn't help at all. Namely, these three images. I know a lot of players were simply shocked at these responses.

Is this really how an admin should be acting in a PUBLIC chat over an issue as serious as pedophilia? Not at all. This was flat out rude, unprofessional, and childish.

Second, Knox accidentally leaked Annie's IP. Yes, you heard me, her IP was on the forums in a screenshot for a solid ten seconds before the posts were removed. Was it really an accident? Who knows, but I think it was considering he removed it as soon as possible, and even in this situation, I don't think he'd go as far as posting her IP on the forums. Then again, how did he manage to screenshot the convo, paste it, then post it on the forums without realizing? It just seems like he wasn't being observant or something, I don't know. SneakyTurtles could have been DDOSed or a bunch of other **** people can do. We have had criminals who've done this stuff before on LOTC. It's outrageous.

Third, yes, discord messages can easily be forged, but did you say that about all of the other players who have said toxic things via discord? No. Why would you say this about a pedophile though? Because they're a good player who 'has no ban history'? No. This is 501 being bias. End of story.

That's all I have to say, and it's just my view on how poorly things were handled.

Cheers.

Nothing against you @Unwillingly

I just want to politely disagree with you a little bit here. While I understand why you say 501's behavior seems unfitting for an admin, especially given the situation at hand, I do also think he is incredibly frustrated. 501 isn't a bad person, and is not out to make the server worse, despite what sometimes the community (and at some points in the past, myself even) may think. 501 does a lot of work for the server, for little return. I think 501 does what he does because he really wants the server to work. But when the community finds a massive issue, such as the case of the pedophilia, it has a tendency of being targeted right to the admins, and mainly at 501 because he is the face of the Admin team. I'm not saying that cases like this shouldn't be handled quickly. I am however defending 501 a little bit because he is only human. When issues like this arise that weren't even his fault, he often takes a massive amount of community blame. If I were him, I'd probably vent a little in the public lobby too. And finally, at the end of your statements you say "This is 501 being bias. End of story." I have to disagree with you. 501 is an admin. Beyond the high level staff members that 501 personally oversees, 501 probably gives 0 sh*ts if he bans a player accused of something as serious as this. At the same time, can you imagine the community backlash if 501 banned the wrong person? Or a person who was actually not the culprit? 501 is doing his job, and given that he is often alone, I'd say he is doing it pretty well at this current time. What bias would 501 have in favor of the pedophile player? That sounds a lot like a conspiracy theory. It's time to stop targeting our friendly neighborhood admin, and its time for the community to step back a little, and clear our heads before we say things that we will regret.

I feel that if the final judgement and guilt of the player has been confirmed, just like in normal legal practice the freedom of information can flow once judgement is made. I feel the slowness of the Admin teams should be addressed and also this slowness should be held into account for players who through frustration fiercely committed contempt.

The person has been banned, and there is no reason to expose them to LOTC other than you just wanting to know, i agree bans should be shared, but not this one.

Recent? 501 has always been like that and actively dismisses the player base on the regular. Has for years. Did it last year during last year's outrage about a different pedophile. Rugswept, dismissed, laughed and ignored.

That being said its unfortunate another sheep has been thrown to the wolves to try and make amends because the administration knows all too well they've gone too far and that the playerbase, by and large, is not receptive to them or their explanations.

Those of you defending the current Administration and claiming no one is remembering the human: You're ignoring all the past, previous actions and behaviors. You're giving the Administration responsible for this whole mess a clean slate and acting as if they've never done anything previously. But the fact is it is not just one incident that riles the playerbase. It is a long string of incidents, a historical tapestry that can be traced back several years of repetitive cycles of abuse from administration towards the playerbase, constantly rug-swept issues that then repeat ad nauseaum.  Why must the playerbase forgive past incidents when all together, all of this viewed as one picture rather than separate red flags, paints an alarming picture of an Administration that has always and will always believe it is right, and that the playerbase is "less than" them, that the playerbase is always "stirring the pot" and "causing drama", which I am positive was their initial reaction to the pedophilia accusations, as it has been to pedophilia accusations in the past, meanwhile belittling and insulting those who dare speak up with passive-aggression both in public and in private staff chats?
