I play on an 7 year old mac that can barely run chrome. I also pvp with a trackpad. I think your issue is less your hardware and more you not wanting to lose. Wood elves are literally the most populous nation on the server and should be able to repel any raid thrown at them, certainly with an hour of time to prepare.

i once had 17000 ping playing on lotc and it really doesnt go above 500 for me at most times. half the times that someone meme-hits me my computer spazzes out for an actual minute. i understand that youre a pro pvper who has transcended simple mortal binds like "fps" and "minecraft crashing" but some people arent just that good

Nah i'm terrible and lose in 1v1s to pretty much everything. Literally got smacked up by @Hobbits the other day. The difference is that I'm fine with losing and have done so often in the name of a better narrative.

I'm pretty impressed that you can make good RP off of being popped after PVP.

"a better narrative", ah yes. i love that one story about an elf and a human fighting and then the elf's computer lags and then he explodes to bits. literature is such a beautiful thing

I'd like to learn your secret, @Narthok. Everyone's always gone after I'm popped during a raid, and I can't figure out how to create a "better narrative" without people around.

lots and lost of wound rp!

Memeing aside, I think being kidnapped could be pretty neat.

I'd certainly like to see more kidnapping of leaders and such from raids rather than just a wanton popping of everyone in a settlement before you yeet off into the sunset. Then you have this growing rp dynamic of who leads while x is gone, how will we try and save them, we need to assemble people, or we could try to ransom. These kinds of minute interactions spawn a whole web of rp that is both meaningful and directed rather and is ideally the end result of raids. Where towns experience genuine damage but instead of that damage being to activity its more to rp oriented things which would hopefully generate more activity. Perhaps I am being too hopefully but I don't think its a super far stretch to at the very least re align raids with some kind of rp reason and origin.

Hire mercenaries! Or pay off the raiders with pixels. There are always solutions to problems but I feel people can't get out of the headspace of grr ooc grudges.

Hence 2 day cds with clauses and such. The alternative position could say 'oh 21 day cooldowns well how will raiders find rp'

Grr OOC grudges grr. Really though, pay them off with pixels? None even give me a chance to RP before demanding PVP, so please try again.

as a playerbase that can't rally enough defenders who can repel an uncapped raiding party we will be stuck with 2 day cool downs that would kill our activity completely

And as I've stated before we are really trying to crack down on this kind of thing but need players to actually tell us when offences occur.

Add a raid cap, if no 1 hour warning then 10 people. With a 1 hour warning, 20 people.

Remove siege equipment from raids.

Some folks have suggested some kind of stealth raid that wouldn't require any warning, but I'm unsure what mechanics would be involved. I won't compromise on the uncapped portion of the 1 hour warning raid. Wood elves can easily rally 50 people with an hours.

Yes but to be fair you probably won't be raided if you're a smaller settlement with no genuine greivances to another nation. Since these rules heavily restrict raids insofar as no alts, need demonstratable allegiances, needing a base.

I'll be sending screenshots directly to you when these things happen, then.

With these rules, Dunshire would be dead. All it would take is 2-3 raids going in to smash the few locked chests we have and the entire halfling race would stop playing. Nobody wants to restock the entire village storage from scratch, and any more than the occasional storage-wipe really hurts the village morale and roleplay.

Also, if raiders can capture people they clicked to death just as easily as if they had gone through an hour long roleplay fight, it removes any roleplay behind capturing people. All you’d need to do is click down their leaders and prominent players in a raid, capture them, and watch as their activity dies.
