A Pelican’s Resignation.

Before the election, hired assailants tried to take my life during the 1762 Curonian debate.

I eventually won that election, with 64 % of Curonians supporting me in the Curon Senate election.

To whoever hired these assassins, I would like to tell you this.

I’m a mother, I’m a wife, I’m a sister and I’m a human being.

This incident has put me and my family at risk, which is why today I am announcing my resignation from the Imperial Senate, a decision I have not taken lightly.

I will not immediately resign, but I will resign at the end of the fourteenth session.

I’ve always believed in democracy, liberalism, worker’s rights and Curonian values and I would like to thank the people of Curon for electing me seven times.

I thank my family for their unwavering support for me for twenty-three years, with special thanks to my good friends Gwynnestri Elwitt and Terrence May, my husband Duarte and my brother Wilheim.

I wish the best of luck to my successor, and remember…

When you Root for Rutledge, you Root for Curon.

Thank you.

With love, Senior Senator for Curon Vivaca Adhara de Antunyes Rutledge.

While relaxing in his office, Senator Terrence May gets word from his staff that his long-time colleague had resigned. He then took his quill to publish a statement:

“Senator Vivaca Rutledge has been an advocate for great prosperity and the rights of all citizens. She is a devoted public servant and a loving mother, wife, and friend, to the people of Curon with whom she has had the pleasure to represent for over two decades. I have enjoyed working with her in her time in the Senate, collaborating on the great issues that our society has faced over these years. She will be missed greatly and I wish her abundant success in her long and promising future ahead.”

“A great woman, representing all of us working ladies and us Curonains.” Lilianne Smith would say smiling to herself.

“One of the greatest Senators that the Province of Curonia has ever had. She not only taught us what it means to be curonians during her career; she actually taught us to respect the imperial citizens just as much as we respected our fellow curonians.” Julius Greyfallow would say as he remembers his childhood in Avalain.

Hakon Erling sits in the Golden Skulls command tent with a glass of wine in hand, leaning back on his chair as he thinks something over. With a few drinks of his wine, he sets down the glass and grabs a sheet of paper, beginning to write a letter.  “Let it be, then”

George Calverley would be rapturous by this unforeseen resignation of his neoteric nemesis. Notwithstanding their rancorous relationship , he has reverence for her crucial contributions to  beloved Curon which must not be disregarded. He would send a letter wishing her and her family in good health with a facetious remark at the end of the correspondence "Rest In Retirement"

Philip quickly pens a letter to the Senator:

“Through hailstorms and flame the Just will always stand firm. Throughout your tenure in public service you’ve sought fairness and brought prosperity to all His Imperial Majesty’s People, but above this for the People of Curon, who for too long have suffered the fate of a nation plagued in bloodshed as a result of recent conflicts. With this new peace I hope you finally reap the peace, prosperity and happiness you’ve sown in the past years.

In lieu of your resignation, I cordially invite you to the Capital for a formal dinner, to be hosted in the coming Saint’s Days, of which you will be the Guest of Honor.

I will have my Secretary send you the specifics.

Signed,

Philip Louis of Provins, City Clerk of Helena”
