On the Brink

11th of the Amber Cold, 1782

The cogs of war begin to turn, and out of the churning machine sail ships of naval warcraft. Dispatched with orders to blockade, the duo of battleships make headway from the Firelands unto the shores of the evergreen forests North. Racked with cannons and ballistae, food and water, and tools with which to build, these ships crept up the Wildlands coast into the bay of Gehenna. Here under their watchful and mighty masts donned with the Standard of Azdromoth, no ships would enter nor leave. No supplies would come, no people would go. Only now did Farrador have the tall mountains to their East, treacherous to cross with anything more than the clothes on their backs. As draconic soldiers began to patrol the pine woods in advance of approaching armies and siege weapons of the field, this stronghold of Xan would soon begin to run out of options.

Soldiers aboard the three vessels cheer and holler into the night as they take anchor, the bay presently empty and devoid of traffic. A naval command ship would follow within the month, with frigates in tow.

Where would they run to? Where would they hide? The impending siege was soon to come – this blockade, was the first step.

”Lower the anchor!” An Azdrazi, the apparent First Mate of the ship, called out from the Captain’s Quarters as they pulled into the bay. The chain and anchor would drop into the bay to settle into the sand as they took their positions northbound. The ships seemed to be filled with hustle and bustle of cannonballs being prepared and the crew as she made her way up to the crow’s nest , her footsteps quickened from the excitement. climbing on the mast upwards. Ithirnaktar would put the mariners telescope up to her eye as she turned towards Farrador, a soft smile on her features as the seabreeze flitted gently about the air. “The war has begun.”

Valignatir slinked through the winding corridors of an amply lit manor. With flaxen coils and an opulent gown, garnished with aureate garnishments, this Nephilim seemed bereft of any semblance of swagger, instead fortified by ageless poise. To skittering servantry, nods and brisk smiles were deftly afforded; such was routine, after all, as it had become for decades.

She traversed a final corridor, therein greeting by magnificent armour of gilded composition and ornated with jewels. It seemed priceless, and it was. The Archdraakar’s scion was steeled with resolve, a smile looming over the guise veiling her true countenance. Facades obscure the truth from mundane eyes, but they do not diminish it.

It shines like the heavens only to those who seek such enlightenment and fortitude, never ignorance masses. Alas, such an idyllic reality, untainted by conflict and voidal involvement, is not one that lasts in perpetuity for it is the aforementioned whom lack sense and are in abundance of vainglory that so pitilessly ruin it.

IT WAS TIME TO MAKE IT KNOWN.

Greatness is sustained by duty and humility, forging the strength of filial vows.

It is lain, undisturbed, amidst splendor and gold.

Woe to ye who rouses the Dragon, besmirching its name and pilfering its treasured repute.

Even the Strongest of Steel, and the most cerulean of waters cannot douse its flame.

Tanyl Erwenys would look upon the boats from the shore, the ‘aheral’s ocean blue gaze scanning the undermanned Azdrazi vessels. “Poor bastards are going to get blown out of the water, I see nothing but a simple catapult upon one.. and nothing on the other.” He’d mutter to himself, the mali gently tugging his helm off and allowing the cool ocean breeze to hit his face. “What a good day for a naval battle, glad to see fire breathing lizards manning wooden ships.” A snicker would escape his lips as he spoke, the man turning and beginning his jog back home.

Despite the blockade, every so often the familiar outline of a man would be present on the coastlines, traveling and studying as he saw fit, and watching the developments without nary a care. A glance away for a moment and he’d be gone, sometimes leaving small sketches to be found where spotted, as harmless as can be. All signed, naming himself as The Wyrd.

The silhouette of a man of mundane stature quietly lingered over the walls of the Gehenna Estate, his gaze ever-so carefully watching the ships beginning to approach the waters nearby his home- sullied with the stray vessels of conflict. As a bottle of rum found itself leaving his hand to rest upon the wall, he’d procure a telescope to hover over his eye. “I’ve got a feeling that my fishing trips won’t be so easy anymore.” He thought to himself.

Hi @all here, per the drop-down spoiler at the bottom of the post, if you wish to interact with the ships and identify under-manned qualities and/or if they have less weaponry than announced, it would be nice if you'd reach out to us instead of coming while everyone is offline in our timezones. It must be iterated that this is in connection to an event line and ships unlike cities will not be manned at all times especially at 2-3AM on a Tuesday morning.

Thanks. @1_Quantum_1

((So basically what you’re saying is no one is allowed to even look at them from afar without your permission?))

OOC ST NOTE:

It is an eventline, you’re free to look at them from afar as Keefy’s comment showed but for further interactions you’re going to have to contact myself or one of the other ST involved. Just because there are no players actively on them does not mean that it is not an active eventsite/they are not actively being manned as this is an event based war. We also have been waiting on WT to finish up some of the build for it/moving some of the ships since they didn’t get to all of it yesterday. Thank you! 🙂

OOC: I don’t understand how this is part of an ‘event line’ when the post isn’t by an official staff member or otherwise, not to mention the fact that the methods for this conflict haven’t even been decided yet.

Furthermore, I don’t understand the logic and/or reasoning behind the ships somehow being able to ‘creep’ onto the shores. Ships can be spotted from miles out, especially on a clear day. The chances of them being spotted and intercepted (especially flying the flag of azdromoth) is incredibly high, especially when you have aegrothond nearby. The only way to approach the area is from the south, or from the east, both directions in which Aegrothond has easy visibility of. So again, for the ships to suddenly just creep up to the shores with seemingly no resistance seems like a farfetched idea. The azdrazi soldiers somehow making it to the pines without being spotted is another such example that seems farfetched and, to be honest, powergamed.

I understand that I’m not omniscient, so I am more than open to my issues being addressed adequately.

This is nowhere near Aegrothond. They also are not “creeping onto the shores”, they crept up the entire coastline. Ships move at a creeping pace. Azdrazi soldiers are in the forests as we have been actively moving people in war parties between Aegrothond and Farrador. Additionally, again, if you’d like to interact as resistance with your ships or land-based artillery merely notify us and it will be arranged. Thank you.
