A letter to the MOJ

Edith sit at her desk as she writes the letter to the populace of the Empire pinning it along every city notice board.

It has been only mere months since the banishment of Dame Vik Tsecsar by the Courts of Oren. It has been mere years since the arrest of Erik Othaman at his retirement from the ISA. It seems every time a soldier of value and valour retires they are to be arrested by the Ministry of Justice. Yet our orders remain to work and help them, I must ask why? They have done nothing for the Imperial Soldiers which serve our great Empire except cause them fear that they too will be arrested! For is this the new normal for retirement? To be barged in during your retirement and arrested! These are not Orenian values!

For far too long, we've watched the Ministry of Justice put up good soldiers for petty reasons. Not only do they try to find loopholes around the law preventing them from arrested ISA, but they also blatantly disregard their own laws while putting the Dame to trial the same day of the "crime", and ignored the cries of mistrial by replacing the judge that saw the flaws in what the prosecution did. The Ministry of Justice should stop this action and no longer arrest former soldiers the minute they don’t wear the uniform- if not out as a law, as a common courtesy between Oren's two law forces.

People are retiring left and right, and now the army has become gradually more and more inactive. First the brigades are removed, and then the people, and next, their rights.

"There is no instance of a nation benefiting from prolonged warfare."

For the brothers and sisters of Oren, we should all stand with Sir Erik & Dame Vik, and the ISA against the MoJ’s gross misuse of power!

“Justice is not yet dead, not until we let it be.”

That aforementioned Dame was working away in her lab in some kingdom far away, dutifully grinding down herbs for a potion, until she'd caught drift of the flier. She went to show it toward the Ork beside her, and then her guild as a whole, with a tired smile.

"There are folk yet that will fight for me."

She took a moment to mull over the statement, and shook her head.

"Neicht for me. For humanity. Yam nie the only one suffering from these laws."

"Edith?" Keaghen Armas questions upon reading the opinion piece. "She hasn't been seen in years, I only assumed she died in battle with the Nordlings!" He states aloud to an empty office.

Maisie d'Arkent would pass along the letter to her most trusted companion, uttering a soft "If my grandfather was around, seeing his soldiers treated in such ways, he wouldn't be able to take it."

Philip Pruvia nodded to himself upon reading, standing up and folding his arms behind his back. "Disgrace, disgrace.. I hope that his Imperial Majesty soon does something about it.."

"Soldiers being held accountable for when they break the law? Shock!" Remarked Basil.

Duncan reads the flier as it comes across his desk

“People expect to not be held accountable for their actions due to their previous role in the army? Such stupidity, the Dame gave a child a blast potion, such things are not excusable in the slightest. There has been no misuse of power and to my knowledge. Sir Erik Othaman is still in the ISA anyway, it was only a few months ago I spoke to him last, I must assume she confused him Erik Tarcell Othaman. Shows how much she knows.” Remarked Duncan in a somewhat rambling matter, this flier had evidently annoyed him.

The same way Richard always got news from listening to nurses unconscious in his bed he caught wind of parts of the flier. In his mind he smiled but also felt enraged that he was stuck in bed.

"To think we were once soldiers.. Must be a force of habit for the Ministry to immediately attempt to beat whichever souls it is into submission after their use has been done.  And they attempt to prove it was fair using their sight of justice.. Disgusting how they cower behind their justice system and won't wear their actions like medals of war.  Even so justice is already a horribly defined word, everyone sees it differently."

Moskau would sit at his old desk once more, taking the flier and placing it before his put-out lantern.  He'd forgot to light it and couldn't be bothered to light it again.  Now in the fairly darkened room, the veteran of the MRA stood up from behind the old piece of carpentry.  His footsteps could barely have been heard as he made his way to the door. Gently thrusting open the door to the breeze the outside world had to offer.  His battered eyes read the missive in the daylight once again, to make sure he was correctly understanding it.

"My view of justice?  I could blow up the entire Imperial Palace and call that justice, and to some it would seem well deserved.  Others would see it as terrorism, and that those responsible need justice.  People may define justice all they want, yet people will still see it how they want it to be.  I don't want justice.  I want the wrongdoing to be right, and if I must continue to withstand the Ministry then so be it."

After seeing Father Basil make a statement in favor of the MoJ Sir Charles Galbraith would blink twice and realize that he had been in the wrong side of the story since the beginning.

The Solicitor-General would then go join the protest against the Ministry of Justice "Down with the Constables and the Solicitor-General!".

"The Ministry of Justice lack discipline. They cannot even maintain silence in the ranks. They are no more a respectable force than a pile of building materials is a house." Says a young Pontifical guardsman contemptuously

“I would have to say those hens in the MOJ have always been lazy, greedy, and idiotic people, besides Aimee.” Natalya vas Ruthern commented to her grandfather, the Count of Kotiz, with a disappointed tone and an annoyed expression on her face while the notice would be to the left of her plate. Then, after the young lady’s comment, she’d go back to eating her breakfast within the safety and warmth of Ruthern Estate.

"You speak of times before times. Long years have passed since our endeavours within the lonely walls of Providentia, as allies and not as enemies.", he paused, giving a frown and taking a few steps to reach the door.

"You know naught of the sorrows of the Ariskiys.", another long pause, as he opened the door into the dark room, shining the bright lights of the hallway upon Moskau's face, "Good soldiers, good lawmen, bad soldiers, bad lawmen. They're all the same, no need to ponder out loud while the whole house is sleeping!"

Pretty Princess Helen's reply to her closest friend was accompanied by a soft nod. "How terrible a state of affairs.."
