AN OPEN LETTER TO PRINCE PHILIP AUGUSTUS

His stomach turned to be in the presence of the man who betrayed his own brothers (Owyn 33)

HIH Prince Philip Augustus, Duke of Crestfall,

To a figure of such renown as the heir presumptive to Our empire, a person who is gazed upon as a symbol of leadership and wisdom as its heir, We ask you what you may hold as the meaning of kinship? We ask this as news spreads that you, Your Imperial Highness, had voted to silence your sister's voice as if she were nothing more than a stranger. The Princess Imperial’s voice was silenced on the House of Lords; an unconstitutional act against the Countess of Rosemoor appointed by Our Emperor to be seated there.

We turn to the imperial family as a paragon of how Orenian familial affairs are to be conducted. Thus, We hold the kin to Our Emperor with the highest degree of reverence and respect. Indeed, We hold these truths without most of Us having been graced with the acquaintanceship of the Emperor’s family. Is this same respect not held among these esteemed individuals as well? We question this as you have moved to silence your own sister’s voice. Will We be silenced when your reign is to come, too?

Behind the opaque curtains of the House of Lords was shrouded a show of perfidy from kin unto kin. Thus was a voice that pleaded for a mere chance at equality silenced by one of their own blood. The Holy Scrolls tell Us of the abominable consequences of the violation of familial bonds, the kin-slaying, and the horrific aftermath left in its wake. While no blood was spilled between siblings on this day, We did witness a scene of betrayal reminiscent of the tragedies of old play out before the legislature. Now we must watch as the aftermath unfolds. We pray that God shall find His good graces into your heart to remedy what has been done.

In your attempt to silence one voice, you have only allowed for the amplification of thousands more. This provocation is such a fickle thing to effuse, for it breaks the coexistence of the word We hold so dear to Our movement: equality. How can this be achieved when one is angered and the other apathetic? How can We create understanding in the apathetic when We are not allowed to speak? We are not allowed to witness, as a collective, the debate of an issue which would alter forevermore the fate of half of the future nobility of Our Empire, who long for the mere chance of equivalent right.

A wise scholar once said that “The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's lives.” Familial bonds may extend to blood and birth, but should also be intertwined by sentiments of care and regard for each other. We watched as you remained idle, standing quiet as the voice of your sister was quashed. Will you retain a similar silence when time comes for you to sit upon the throne? If this is how you have chosen to treat your own and blood, how will you choose to treat the extended family which We created within Our esteemed Empire? We pray that God will guide your path further in this matter.

We pen these words in the name of those silenced, who shall not be any longer. In the name of your sister the Princess Imperial Elizabeth Anne, whose voice you have directly quashed, and in the name of your mother, Empress Anne I. In conclusion, We ask you to consider these questions. What are Orenian values of familial love to be if broken and battered so easily by those whom We admire the most? What are Orenian values of justice to be if all who express differing opinions are to be silenced?

When will Our voices be heard?

Signed,

A Majority Who Shall Be Silenced No More

Amelia Margaret peers down at the letter- her nose scrunched.

“My brothers would never.” Deemed the Princess before returning to walking her dog.

Princess Juliya, currently abroad from court, sat in the bustle of the busy Qalasheen markets reading the open letter that somehow found its way to the South. "To think silence would come of this!" she scoffs, "My grandmothers voice is one of many. If they are so quick to mute hers, and the masses of women that follow her, then the change will only come in uproar, turmoil and grief."

"A betrayal of family." scoffs Mary, her brows furrowing as she reads further. Even in private, and on such heavy topics the woman fears judgement. "I trust my brother would uplift my ideas and musings." is all she's to say on the topic, although her mind races with thoughts of such a ridiculous act. A woman that the d'Arkent held so close treated as if she was less than when she certainly was not. Mary's hand lofts to sign the Lorraine, her head shaking at the thought of such a sweet and knowledgable voice being silenced.

Holy Dame Helena of Rochefort shook her head in some disappointment, the missive brought to her during an evening of prayer - a sharp inhale sounded "It was almost as if I spoke that this bill would proffer more harm than good, did these women not slander the name of Empress Anne I in the square? Did they not strike a small Hanseni boy trying to gauge favour for their bill? If blame is to be pointed, if people should stand admitting to their wrongs it should be half of this gaggle. One should practice what this missive preaches before causing yet another scene. In writing about silencing the voice of a woman, do you chime of the silencing of this one man's own voice. An opinion, is simply that."

John VIII reads this letter. He immediately begins penning letters to the Rosemoor estate, and to the speaker of the House of Lords.

Elizabeth Brae-Wittenbach simply sighs as she reads through the open letter, the sickly Commons member enjoying a bowl of chicken soup as she examines it.

"I wish that the House of Lords would focus on reviewing the many bills which we've sent to the upper chamber, rather than playing politics with it's own members," She grumbles aloud, glancing over to an attendant as she makes these remarks.

"What a ghastly affair... Poor woman."

The Lord Speaker sits in his office, when a knock his heard at his door. Letting out a sigh in exhaustion he takes the letter from the ward before opening and read it.

Elizabeth looked at the missive and the drama that was starting every where she looked seems to be a new reason to fear for the world.

Natalie Julia lets out a loud huff as the sound of a knock echos through her house. The woman would mumble a string of vulgar words to herself as she moved towards her door, a rag in one of her hands. Upon accepting the missive from a young mail boy she quickly read over it while moving back through her home. Upon returning to her original spot she’d lower herself to the ground, resting at eye level with a bust of HIH Princess Amadea. She’d return to polishing the bust while idly speaking to herself. “I only hope the Emperor lives long enough for this idiot to be a rotting corpse.”

Katharina von Savoie glances down at her Rosemoor Badge, adjusting it on her shirt. She shakes her head gently as she leans forward, her glasses slipping down the bridge of her nose. "Petty squabbles, our detractors have. I wish we could all look at the greater picture, and forget all the small politics and actions of ignorant parties. The bill aims to provide equal opportunities for the Noble men and women of the future. Anything else that is said is pure lies and slander." She leans back in her chair and stares up at the many paintings and books that line her wall. "I have lived in Oren for a few years now, and yet I still find myself baffled by its politics."

Claude Élisabeth, arriving into Helena's room of prayer with a fresh piping cup of chamomile tea in pitch to her dearest cousin just as she finished this utterance before the priest, furrowed her brows in specific distate for the chimings, the Rosemoor brooch she donned particularly shiny this evening.

"Cousin, have they struck a haeseni?" She pried, before continuing on against such an accusation, "You speak as if we wish to silence the Prince. An open letter begs a response back, does it not? Do take care to read what we have to say without firstly dismissing the issue of The Princess Imperial's censorship so brazenly." She'd go to sit a moment, palms congregating at her midsection in doing so, the cup held atop them, "To be silenced via a direct censure of the government is quite different to the dramatic and evidently, violent- as we were raided simultaneously- rallies of women finally raising their voices. You speak from a position of kinship to your fellow men, but we speak from a position of grievance to them." She'd finalize, before finally extending her hand to grant Helena the cup.

Holy Dame Helena blinked - understanding that she was indeed on her lonesome in the confines of the papal appartments. Alas, she must be hearing things!
