The Battle of Cape Whitcombe

“Hold the line men! A Norlander at the sails is a joke indeed!”

-His Grace, Duke Jan Kovachev at the battle of Dogger Bay 1557

The HIMS Eagle Stride closing with the Urguani Steamship during the Battle of Cape Whitcombe 15th of Owyn’s Flame 1852

Upon the break of first light, the HIMS Eagles Stride sailed to the seas crowded with Imperial soldiers and various allies of the empire. Sergeant Nicole Vuillerian, the Empire's top naval mind, took command of the vessel, getting it underway. Only recently had the Imperial Navy been reactivated. An incoming Dwarven attack on Providence would be the first test of the fledgling armada. Under her guidance, the emperor, Philip III, and his top lieutenant, the commoner Jack Daniels, sailed forth to do battle with the Dwarven strike force. The waters were still, and appeared akin to glass as none had yet to break the crystal-like water with the ripples of waves. As the imperial ship continued on its course through the waters, an enemy ship appeared upon the horizon. Soon the paths of the Urguani ship and that of the imperials’ clashed. The once beautiful, picturesque peace was broken by the sound of cannons and the chaos that thus ensued. The Dwarves threw their hooks forth and tethered them to the HIMS Eagle Stride, with her crew and those of the ISA ready in formation, prepared for their archers to fire upon the incoming attackers. Yet as the enemies lowered their planks to connect the vessels, those fighting in the name of the empire charged forth to battle; against any who took arms up with the members of the non-human coalition.

As the ships shuddered under the weight of heavy boots, imperial soldiers crossed the blue and took the deck of the malevolent Urguani steamship. Steel against steel rang out amongst the chaos of the charge. Men cleaved and hacked their way aboard the enemy ship, a continuous push further and further onto the ship with more imperial men crowding onwards.

A final blow was dealt to a Ferryman by the emperor himself, and he looked out to the East. The crew of the Urguani vessel dived into the water, desperate for escape. “AFTER THEM!” The emperor boomed and the Orenian soldiers swiftly followed his orders. They dived into the waters after the Dwarves, taking to rowboats in a short pursuit. The Dwed were cut down as they attempted to swim for the coast, as well as the fleeing Ferrymen. Corpses of the enemy littered the waters.

The waters once again stood still, yet tainted in crimson - red from the dwarven blood spilled in the waters of the Heartlander Coast, Victorious cries from the captain and her crew, as well as the Imperial Army could be heard from the coastal side. And so it was that the battle was won, The Dwarven Legion, renowned for their creation of Ironclads and ships, challenged the might of the Imperial Navy; only to taint our waters now and never again.

Whoever controls the Seas and waters, controls the world, One God, One Empire, One Emperor, One Empress, One Navy.”

Joseph d'Azor hoisted the Orenian Colours above the Urguani steamship as the Imperials seized control of the vessel "GOD SAVE OREN!" He cried out across the waves. As the Imperial forces dealt a deft blow to the Non-Human Coalition, a complete wiping out of their attack force!

Claude Elisabeth watches the men returning from atop the walls of Providence, a smile boasted triumphantly. With a final glance, her visor was tugged downwards to hide a paled face.

"This war is long from over." She whispered, returning to learning the smithing of her new sword.

Philip III looks fondly upon the HIMS EAGLE STRIDE, a vessel that had returned home battered, but had brought the Empire victory.

"It is a craft worth bringing to battle. Soon, we shall take it to their own waters."

Evangéline Marie would've had something to say on the matter, but from a recent attempt on her life the adolescent Halcourt was stuck in recovery. She dreamt of tiny men on boats that night.

A young girl's eyes twinkle as she watches her father's ship sail back into Henry's Wharf. Smiling as she clasps her hands together in delight, she fully intends to pester him about the crew's exploits at a later date!

"Today we fought not Dwarves nor Haenseni but Ferrymen, the same foe Oren has been fighting for a Saint's Year." Remarked a young Victoria Emma from the safety of her room in Aster Hall "I'm starting to wonder why these proud nations send mercenaries to fight and pillage our lands instead of themselves." Her gaze trickled towards her bookshelf, particular to one red book with a golden spine reading 'The Rubern War'. She began to grow empathetic towards the Ferrymen cause, not envying their lifestyle.

Captain Ezekiel Moores can't help but smile at the missive, as he thinks back to the time he was kidnapped while waiting to witness the Imperial Navy's first showing.

"There's a joke to be made here..."

“This idea of yer’s better work, Carapolla!” whispered Goran Goldhand to his solicitor, Carapolla, from their hiding place. The merchant had procured a Krugmarish blow-dart, laced with a lethal paralytic, specially for situations like this. Obscured between the creaking rafters of the Orenian frigate, he put the blowgun between his lips and loosed the dart in the direction of Alexandre Ashford, a hated retainer of that tyrant Philip III.

Sadly, having underestimated the capacity of his own lungs, Goldhand’s dart flew long past Ashford and into the neck of an unsuspecting Ferryman, who doubled over and fell into the ocean. In the fray of battle, this all went unnoticed, and so Goran and Carapolla resorted to smaller yet somewhat mischievous acts of sabotage.

They were shocked, then, when the frigate of Yemekar’s chosen people was eventually scuttled by the Imperials. How could this happen?

Nicole would ignore her injury as she held her arm, she looked around at the victorious cheers of her comrades and crew as she sighed a breath of relief, though the HIM Eagle Stride took major fodder, it meant nothing as she will soon be repaired, she cheered along, the young Naval Master, looked around proudly at her victory, no at the Imperial Navy's victory, for it was theirs and theirs alone, she held high knowing there will be more call of duties, in the mean time she tried her first Alcohol drink, as she cheers along with her fellow comrades

"One Empire, One Navy......And complete victory"

Peter Augustus would smile as he watched his parents, the ISA, the ISN, and the brave citizens of the Empire return on the ship as he waved from the shoreline. “God shall protect his faithful!” The youth would turn to his siblings as he could not contain his joy.

Sophie glances to her sister, a somber expression tugging at her lips as her eyes meet the stark grey gaze of Anastasie's. Her large fur coat was pulled over her cheeks by her gloved hands as the bitter cold brought forth a red hue in the face, her head shaking as she remained silent peering toward her sister- offering the missive to her.

Count Fyodor Carrion pulled his blade from the torso of a fallen dwarven enemy upon the deck of their steamship as a deafening silence befell the scene of the battle then concluded. He glanced upwards to find the host of that ship dead and defeated, bellowing a victorious cheer alongside his eldest son and countrymen as he lifted that blade up into the air.
