I really like the kit idea, I think it could help newer players stay within thier intended roles a bit better. Maybe try limiting the merchant and fighter kits so there is actually some farmers or woodcutters around...

Also a few suggestions I have for the new world, that can be ignored if you think I'm to new a player...

I, personaly, would like to see the Minas as an actual in game item, prehaps using the new gold nuggets (With them turning into gold bars disabled so as to not set the price of gold bars or blocks at a fixed value.)

It has a few pros and cons but makes a lot more sense than seeing something really expensive that you want and then suddenly remembering you randomly put an extra 10,000 in your pocket earlier.

It also gives a chance for Villians to steal Minas out of chests or gain money if someone takes the your "life option" (I've never tried killing another player so I don't know if you get Minas for succeeding).

Also underground farms.

It seems that everyone has one neatly tucked under one of thier buildings or in a hidden nearby cave.

I think they should be banned. (Or the wheat/trees/sugarcane edited so it only grows in sunlight)

"What!" I hear you cry? From the fantasy setting, they don't make sense, the technology to make them viable shouldn't exist untill well after gunpowder.

It used to be that sutible farmland was valuble seeing as it was the only place you could grow food. Invaders used to "salt the ground" just to stop the defenders from growing food and cause famine to weaken their enemy. The kings taxed the farmer so that there would be food within the castle or cities for those that didn't have the time or space to grow their own.

Plus it would be nice to see actual farms along the roads instead of abandoned houses.

Thats all for now, thank you for listening.

I do think that making a new world is a good idea. We should have a more organised world this time and be more prepared about what's about to happen:

People will start grinding mobs, mining alot in public mines. Trying to get the best out of the best. And most people want to get their stuff from the old world, 50 diamond blocks and such, what really would mess up the economy afaik. Last world rich donators will become the new world's rich donators.

I have worked alot lately, gathering stuff these days, I wanted to buy a house in Alras, but then I figured out that there's going to be a world wipe so I absolutely stopped playing.

@Orison I like that idea of a new physical currency. It makes a LOT more sense in an RP setting.

Also that mixed with the new Spoutcraft launcher and the Spoutcraft trade system you have gold! (Litterally)

<For anyone who does not know what this is, a server with Spoutcraft installed and the correct plugin (correct me if I am wrong) allows for right-clicking on anothe rplayer to request a trade. Two buttons will then appear on the other persons screen asking whether they want to accept the trade request or not. Once in the trade screen players can drag items into what looks like the UI of a chest which is being accessed by two players at once. The items will then be swapped once trading is complete.>

Although I am not too sure on the opinions of the Admins on Spout...

I have found it a tad unstable at times but what it can bring to a server is just amazing. (UI'S MAN! UI'S!!)

On the note of farms: That is absolute brilliance ^^ Filling the countryside with farms and banning all inside city and underground farms is just... perfection! I guess it would make a lot of people angry but THINK ABOUT IT! It just adds to the scenery to make a much more beautiful landscape. Beautiful fields full of crops swaying in the wind... Ah... what a site that would be to behold.

I've just read all 11 pages but haven't seen this asked or answered yet.

Approximately how long do we have until this new world is ready for us? (I'm buying a guild house from Enor for 20,000 really soon and wanna know if I'll have time to use it)

Will cities be made by players who join when it is publicly opened, or GMs who have pre access?

I will be completely honest. We have no clue.

We can guess that it will be no less than 2 months, since we have to wait for the official release of 1.9, and then we have to make it. The visual aspect has been in planning for more than a month, which has given us plenty to refine ideas. We are in a testing phase now, seeing the styles that we wrote out, and making sure everything goes smoothly. This was proven by Native, who posted some pis from the testing of Elven architecture.

So, simply put, you should get plenty of time from your Guild House, assuming Notch doesn't pull a U'y and release 1.9 early, not that it would be a bad thing.

Like I said before, Notch is not going to release 1.9. He is going to do weekly pre-releases up until the full launch of minecraft. He might change his mind but that's what it says on his blog here: notch.tumblr.com

"instead of trying to squeeze in another real release, we’re going to do weekly (or so) pre releases, aimed at advanced players. We release these via twitter, so make sure to follow me (@notch) and Jens (@jeb_) if you’re interested in those."

The idea of 1.9 pre-releases is to cram in as much content as possible, get players to work out all the bugs. Fix all the bugs and release full minecraft. (Well, I assume) So I guess all of the ideas will just have to keep coming ^^

((You assume that all physics from this world directly translates into Minecraft and Aegis. But the truth is that it does not. Accept the blessing god "of Aegis" has given in that we can safely grow our crops underground, in trees, on mountaintops and wherever else you may live. I would suggest that if you find more people that believe that crops should be only grown above ground in farms, that you settle a land with them and make it so in law.

@Zombie I truely do hope they release 1.9 soon, It is amazing content.))

Perhaps stricter restrictions? Only those with donator plots should be able to build outside Nation territory?

That would just kill growth of new villages and such that players wish to make, also to zombie i think it is best to start from scratch it will give the new players the chance to join us old players from launch in the top spots lol.

We don't exactly want a town of player-made villages for a variety of reasons.

Hey Guys, I read through all the comments and made up a way that this all will work. I posted the link Here

I hope you guys like it and feel free to add anything. I could even add things to the post based on your ideas!

Honestly I'm leaning towards kits, mostly cause here is my plan. New world comes out, use tip money to get my diamond status (I'm gold right now but my forum status hasn't went up) Get my protected plot and minas in the new world. Reestablish my keep/Knight order on hopefully a rather resource rich piece of land in the wilderness somewhere but close enough to civilization that people find us /hire us/ join us. Then stock pile resources to gear our people and set up a shop to sell excess food and materials. So in my honest opinion losing everything won't be a big set back, Simply because I plan on donating (not just for the money I really really would just love a protected plot I am sooooooo tired of griefers) But we might as well start with the kits simply so everyone has something to start with.

Everyone will start with something if you just leave people with their minas/inventory items

Except new players, atleast the kit/class system will give you a starting inventory, which while on the topic of a starting inventory, that would be amazing. None of this you start with 0 minas, and no gear. When I first started I had to go a good distance to find trees I could punch that where outside of a protected zone. atleast with a bit of starting cash, and some gear/items you'll be able to get a good jump into the world
