^^Trazier, I agree big time. When I started, someone who I am still friends with on this server started around that time. We were both new, so you know, almost no Minas, nothing to work with, and it was tough hunting in the forests alone. So we ended up working together to get where we are today. Using diamond weaponry and such without the help of being VIPs. I had even started making a full set of diamond armor, UNTIL the rollbacks...lost so much during those...But yeah, if we can get a multi-world thing going before this world dies, that would be amazing. But it's that sense of accomplishment you get when YOU weren't handed a thing, you fought for where you are now. And it would REALLY suck if all that progress vanished.

Would it be possible for shops to be transfered over? Assuming we don't have a clean fresh restart? Also me and my friends spent a good month gathering 80k for there protection of a base, so could the money be returned apon restart if the minas can be kept?

I suppose I'm the only one who actually enjoys the initial gathering. Stagnant success bores me. Either way, I'm sure that the transition will occur in a fair way, however it is done. The goal is not to destroy your progress, but it's not to rebuild Aegis and let you keep all of your work either.

No Petyr you are not the only one and as you said the transition between worlds will be done fairly, under the caring eyes of our GM friends. I am sure they will find that perfect formula for this in due time.

People need to understand, this server is based on Minecraft.. And Minecraft hasn't reach GOLD STAGE (It's ready for launch) And the world is corrupted due to the upgrades within Minecraft. And people messing around with buildings, causing headaches to staff and players. We may or may not, lose all of our items or money.. This game is in beta.. Wipes do happen.. I've been on many beta's for various mmorpgs, and experienced many game wipes.

Also the Staff need to figure out some storyboards in regards to the transition.. So that once the characters being move to said "New World" Doesn't cause to have people confused of the story taking place. And have fun with the event.

May I suggest a great flood.

"For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life from under heaven; everything that is on the earth shall die. But I will establish my covenant with you." -Genesis 6.'17-19'

When the waters resend, the cities are wiped clean. Entire mountains watered down to flowing hills. The people still remembered the stories of there ancestors, the places they once lived and the wars fought. Remorse was still deep in there hearts for those that were lost to the waters, but hope came one day in the form of an olive branch, A sign God still loved his children and would soon resend the waters so that man may once again wander the earth.

@Chrisdena Extensive planning will occur to make sure that the transition will flow smoothly, lorewise.

@domainoft I would doubt that flooding is what occurs for several reasons (I personally think it's too cliche and religious). The destiny of Aegis will be partially in the players' controls and, undoubtedly, more epic than flooding.

Everything sounds awesome.

And, I think I support starting from scratch. It would be the best for the economy, and it would also be strange to have half the population bringing over a ton of stuff.

It would be a bummer to lose all my stuff, but like you said Zombez, its a roleplaying server. Primary thing you do is roleplay, and I can always build items back up.

Cliche and Religious. I agree but the background of Aegis is riddled with references to biblical things, We would need an event that offers both player control, and an element of beyond our control. A flood would do both. We can't stop the waters, but we can build ships and massive Arks to store our goods. I don't have a logistical method for creating a flood, but as a back story as to how everything got erased and the landscape changed I am open to other suggestions. This was just mine.

I think it would be awesome to let the dragons attack the server, disable al the permissions, that way there will be chaos everywhere. the Undead should attack and there will be lots of Monsters attacking the world. as an escape the ascended ask Aeriel for help, She Floods Aegis and the people escape whiht boats to the new continent. the Undead lose their power because of the holy water, this way the undead are gone and we have a fresh start!

While I was reading this topic I had an idea:

Why not let people keep thier Minas but stop Mobs from dropping them (at least for a while)?

That way money is more valuable and there is a reason to conserve it and not throw it around.

In my opinion as a new player who only got accepted a week or so ago (and didn't notice till monday  ), money was very easy to come by.

All I did was use existing scenery to trap mobs in a place where they could see me but not reach me and then if I was very paitent/bored I could punch them to death without injury. This was very lucrative when pig zombies were involved (and doesn't work with skeletons).

I'm not sure if thats abusing the system or not, but I don't do it anymore as I realised it might be and I don't have much I can do with money.

It would work to keep a caste thing going as the rich would want to hire builders and the poor would need to find alternate ways of finding money.

Edit: The money is also directly given to you after killing a mob, which makes archery even safer as you don't even have to go near the mobs.

Taking away mobs dropping minas would only slow the economy down more than it already is. I've never seen such a slow economy in lotc. the only items that sell now days are diamonds and iron. For carrying over The only thing i care about is my coal ore blocks, slimeballs, and gunpowder... *looks around nervously...

I don't see why people haven't thought about this reason for exodus: the monks. The only reason that there's so many people still living in Aegis is because the monks are so skillful and can heal almost any wound. If something happened to the monks it would only be a matter of time before the people of Aegis would want to follow them. There could be some intriguing and detailed bit of lore to explain it all away. But if players were shown the risk of dying permanently if they were to stay in the old Aegis, who's going to stick around?
