domainoft 191 Share Posted October 12, 2011 I would also support a "new world" wipe, The question would be how to retain all the old lore, stories, written books etc that make Aegis Aegis. It would be very easy to have everyone start fresh, but many would just build whatever they had already built, or make a new "Oren" etc. Which isn't very roleplayish either. I love the new content in 1.9 and see many parts of Aegis that could be cleaned up. The trick is finding a happy medium. A task I am glad the mods will decide instead of me. Archmage 2 Share Posted October 12, 2011 I've been here since DAY 1 I am a donator and I have quite a bit (not anymore killed my character off threw everything into a fire goodbye doublechest full of diamonds) of money. Personally I think we need to go Tabula but then after playing Dwarf Fortress I understand the subtle phrase "Losing is Fun" and it truly is. While I am for starting over and only VIP's getting their donator money (they will just spend it on expensive houses anyways like they did server release ((which gave the kings the money to hire workers to build more houses who could then buy houses etc cycle goes on forever don't QQ.))) If so I think a skills reset should be called for (I am 231/275 spread out to use iron tools in every catagory so I would lose a lot) Skills adds so much depth to the game and allows people to specialize, which in turn leads to a true economy. Economies are hard to run when anyone can obtain almost any material with the same effort. Specialization leads to trade which drives any real economy. I assume that everyone will be able to choose a single kit upon entering the server for the first time, I think that those kits should perhaps give a preset stat boost, similar to a racial boost. We feel that Guilds pop up out of the blue, claim Top Dog status, and then fall apart in a few days. Instead of having mistake prone player made guilds, we would much rather help regulate consistent guilds, help them grow and maybe even pop up newer settlements or possibly nations. I would gladly help you moderate these guilds, owning one myself and being the creator of the first guild (Dark Brotherhood... <3 you 4ever) PM me if you are interested? It has taken a beating with heavy corruption, and we try and help this problem every day. Especially after the Ascended fiasco, corruption has been raised, we hope the eradication of World Edit use will help what little lifetime that is left, but over time it will die. We hope that thorough planning will help prevent the short lifetime of the server world, and planning out the complexity of the New World will help longevity,. I am sorry about your soon to be loss, but we are not to blame, Notch's coding is. MC map corruption happens over time, World Edit just sped it up. That's pretty badass, but I sure hope they're all regioned in the new world... ...if I saw someone chop out the trunk as far as they could reach, and leave 4/5ths of the thing floating off the ground, i'd be tempted to fill them full of arrows for desecrating such work. Trazier 115 Share Posted October 12, 2011 I guess the kit idea is better than the nothing idea. The thing is though, when I started, I didn't just magically have items and money given to me. This isn't a "RAWR KITS SUCK RP RUINED BLAHBLAHBLAH" thing, but i'd like to say that my first helping hand, was given to me by another player (and we soon became fast friends), not a pre-programmed mod. I know i've already said it, it's just the double-blow that i'm not anticipating enjoying. Having to rebuild where I live and all of that, but FIRST needing to get gear and stuff in which to gather the materials. Also, if item transfer is allowed, i'm not just coming to the new world with 500 gold, iron, and diamond blocks pouring out of my ears. I'd have less than a stack of each. The majority of what I bring would be generally hard-to-acquire building material, like mossy stone, obsidian, redstone, pistons, and bricks, so once I re-acquire property, I can begin rebuilding Ark's End and stuff. Again, it's not crying about time lost, i've put a lot of time and effort into the place, and Arkensald himself has but a lot MORE time into it doing redstone work and things, but those can be rebuilt. In MY eyes, it would just suck, to have to work really hard for a while, in order to be able to acquire what I need, to work really hard on rebuilding what was lost, you know what I mean? If all goes to planned, sorry mate, but yes. When your base is finished what else do you have to do other than run your guild? not much sadly, also, I bet there are flaws in the design, that if you were given a flesh slate, you could get rid of those particular flaws and make your base about 50% better. Trouvo 205 Share Posted October 12, 2011 Personally I am at a crossroads, I love the city I built that took over 3 months building it looks amazing, and everyone who has visited agrees, but I think I would also be happy starting anew, fresh character and story for myself, as I had never planned nor truly wanted to be a lordx but that is how things played out and I've been told I do an amazing job and was even asked by over 20 people if there was a way to make me king, I'm happy doing menial work, mining building and harvesting, its relaxing, having also cared about the people as a whole is what got me where I am now, I think as long as I am not just thrust into the wilderness with nothing and no skills at all I would be fine, maybe a refugee camp or something in the new world, and if both are kept for travel between I can play as baron in aegis and someone new in the new world. I love the do of the server and will will play on it as long as it exists. I think some people need some serious Rp training, theirs on the road that just shout "give me all you got or I will kill you" are pathetic, unless you play a retarded handicapped brainless oaf of a villain then fine but play correctly and be outsmarted by more intelligent victims. I would much prefer to keep al my hard work of course even if just a downloaded file or something, though I doubt the possibility of such. I look forward to lotc 2.0, And hope for the best. Either way I will be there, I always will. If any help is needed of course let.me know, I am also helping create another RP server whenn I am not busy or on lotc which I will not tell.you what it is even if you pm me, I will not Leach from here....I may Leach from.the other one for people to come here though DD.
