To Speak of the Future

To my beloved family,

 

            Since the provenance of my creation, I have sought with every shed drop of tear and sweat to the betterment and ascendency of my blood. From humble origins has my kinsman united with our cousins of brood, and it is with the grace of divine fate of Maker’s hands that we have now seen a horizon, one of glory and prosperity. Yet the trek is dangerous and full of terrors, a deep ravine of sin and depravity that shed upon the stone floors of his own abode, infused with anger and thirst for revenge that sacrificed such debased can only be crossed through only one tool: sacrifice. Was it not Owyn, his father’s head dashed upon the stones, rescinding his ambitions to follow the wisdom of the divine messenger? Desires of the flesh, the transitory world, must be denied for the emanations which derive from above.

 

            It is henceforth I see it prudent that, in order for my family to rise ever forward, I must set aside that which I hold to my heart most dear. My son, Otto, shall soon rise to the grand seat of Lord Speaker thanks to an overwhelming majority vote - a position which was in part created by my dynastic ancestor the Baron of Rostig-Otistadt. It is a seat of great significance, not for its political power, but for its ties to the intricate chronicle of the Ludovar family. If I and the Duma both are the scions of that bureaucrat, are we not like cousins, related parts of a grander whole?

 

            However, for my son to assume such a lofty office, he is accorded by requirement to be a Peer in name and right; a dignity which I currently possess. It is henceforth I proclaim:

 

• I, Stanimar Joremar var Branimar Jakob et Barbanov van Ludovar ag Barbanov van Morovar, hereby abdicate my titles and fiefs to my eldest son, Otto Jakob var Stanimar Paterik et Barbanov van Ludovar ag Baruch.
• I, Stanimar Joremar var Branimar Jakob et Barbanov van Ludovar ag Barbanov van Morovar shall remain Chief of the Ludovars for the duration of my healthy life.
