[T5] Abjuring Strike [Aggressive]

Spoiler

After achieving a state of Aggressive Resonance, an Oscillit may be able to abjure mana-based entities and T3 spells when struck. The area affected is limited to the Oscillit’s strike and the entity/spell struck. This ability may be channeled through resonant tools.

When an Oscillit channels Abjuring Strike, their chosen instrument will begin to swirl with the user’s aura for [1] Emote. When a primarily mana-composed target is struck, the mana within it would be disrupted and the properties of said target are made null. This enables an Oscillit to cleave through mana-based spells [up to T3], banish ghosts and even abjure voidal entities.

Though Abjuring Strike can aid in destroying magical constructs, the Oscillit must strike areas possessing mana and not their external shell. This is to say that an Oscillit can not automatically defeat an Atronach by touching it - their armor must be bypassed. Further, Abjuring Strike is capable only of dispelling spells evoked by enchantments, but not the enchantment itself. In the event that a spell is abjured, its ambient mana will linger for a time and slowly return to the environment.
REDLINES:

Abjuring Strike nullifies the effects of T3 spells upon contact and will act as an Abjuration towards Voidal Horrors, Voidstalkers, ETC.

• Abjuring Strike is incapable of abjuring enchantments themselves, but may abjure their evoked spells.

• Abjuring Strike cannot be used as a “shield” and instead must be swung at a mana-based target. This is to say that an Oscillit cannot cover themselves in an abjuring shield.

• Abjuring Strike is capable of banishing ghosts with [3] direct hits, and may disable magical constructs with [5] direct hits to their mana sources. Mana-Based Constructs include Golems, Atronachs, Eidolas, ETC.

[T1] Orbit [Passive]

Spoiler

After achieving a state of Passive Resonance, an Oscillit may be able to invoke non-metal objects at rest into harmlessly orbiting about them to a maximum 3x3 meter area of effect. While in orbit, objects will maneuver about the path of least resistance and will shift out of the way of incoming projectiles, obstructions and individuals. This enables an Oscillit to carry items in a hand-free capacity.

Alternatively, an Oscillit may be capable of fabricating a bubble of “Minor Avoidance” whereby they can shield themselves from ambient rainfall, dust, sand, blood sprays and other miscellaneous nuisances.

In the event that the Oscillit or another wish to claim an object from the orbit, they may do so with ease. It is noted that though any object may theoretically be affected by Orbit’s pull, the weight of affected objects will encumber the Oscillit beyond a weight of twenty-five pounds. Further, should resonance be disrupted, the objects in orbit would fall back to the ground harmlessly.

REDLINES:

• Orbit will, at Maximum, only affect an area of 3x3 Meters (Blocks).

• Orbit is incapable of being used for combative purposes.

• Orbit’s ability to create a bubble of “Minor Avoidance” holds no bearing on combat, and will not block against strikes, thrown potions, thrown powders, evoked sand, ETC. Minor Avoidance is purely intended for ambient nuisances, such as rain or dust storms. This said, the bubble of "Minor Avoidance" is capable of shielding the Oscillit against MUNDANE smokescreens rendered by alchemical or magical means amidst combat.

• Orbit has a weight capacity of twenty-five pounds lest the Oscillit become too encumbered to adequately maintain their rhythmic breath.

Thus, they may only lift what they could reasonably with their own physical strength– stacking atop any weight that the Oscillit is also carrying naturally. Objects that the Oscillit cannot reasonably lift simply wouldn't move. Further, should resonance be disrupted, the objects in orbit would fall back to the ground harmlessly.

[T1] Condensing [Passive]

Spoiler

After achieving a state of Passive Resonance, an Oscillit may be able to condense particles or substances they interact with to a maximum of a 1x1 meter area of effect. When condensed, the particles will gain a durability comparable to that of plywood - durable but prone to breakage. Particles that an Oscillit is capable of condensing include: Smoke, Dust, Sand, Rain, Mist, Leaves  and Paper.

Should an Oscillit remove their touch from the affected condensed tool, the particles will return to a chaotic, unbinded state following [1] Emotes of grace. This is to say that, in the event an Oscillit had fabricated sand shurikens, the tools would remain condensed for a period of [1] Emote after being thrown.

REDLINES:

• Condensing will, at Maximum, only affect an area of 1x1 Meters (Blocks).

• Condensing will endow an affected object or substance with a durability comparable to plywood. This is to say that though it will retain its form when held, it remains prone to breakage. Without utilizing the “Hardening” ability, the formed item will break after a single combative strike.

• Liquids may be condensed to a maximum volume of one gallon, whereas Solids may be condensed to a maximum weight of ten pounds.

Spoiler

After achieving a state of Passive Resonance, an Oscillit may be able to condense particles or substances they interact with to a maximum of a 2x1 meter area of effect. When condensed, the particles will gain a durability comparable to that of plywood - durable but prone to breakage. Particles that an Oscillit is capable of condensing include: Smoke, Dust, Sand, Rain, Mist, Blood Droplets, Ash, Petals, Snowfall, Leaves, and Paper.

Purpose:

Spoiler

Abjuring Strike, currently, functions the same as a weapon/armament treated with Auric Oil. For a path devoted to diffusing magic, being capped at abjuring T3 spells or below feels underwhelming, to say the least. Especially when you consider that you're trading your prowess against most other people in MMO-type combat (Sun Path) for prowess in diffusing magics/magical entities.  Compared to Sun Path, where each spell serves its purpose as the MMO path, Moon Path only has two spells that can be used for magical diffusion. I think the person who dedicated two of their magic slots to tackle magical dilemmas should have the slightest edge over your average Joe with an Auric Oiled armament. This is just an attempt to even the scales by taking out the T3 limitations.

The amendment to Orbit is because the ability is wholly aesthetic. The redlines explicitly state that it can’t be used for combat. With this in mind, why restrict players to a 25lb limit when there’s no real bearing in combat and no detriments otherwise?

Finally, the amendment to Condensing is because I think it'd be cool to be able to condense the listed materials into a staff, or objects of similar length. The extra particles added to the list are to provide different types of "Condensing" flavor, and for the most part, they match the other particulates. Again, I thought it could be cool, but I'm open to changing it if the community / ST have gripes (this goes for everything else too, just specifically stating it here o7).

+1 especially for abjuring strike the equating to auric oil is 100% nonsensical considering the ability itself is worse than auric oil and kani users cant stack meanwhile auric oil being used by the most devious HEMA rper with carbarum and fullplate

Much agreed. Sun Path in on by itself seems just the clear winner of the 2 paths in terms of combat versatility, the moon path being useful in rather niche scenarios. Perhaps in the future it can be introduced to new abilities, or the existing ones tweaked to level the scale. But overall, this is a change in the right direction imo.

I agree with these but lost the fight for Abjuring strike to do what you’re proposing in the past, so we’ll see what happens. As for weight limit it was derived from prior redlines because people were cheesing events but imo not a problem.

edit: allowing condensing to be 2x1 would allow barriers to be made impromptu so IDK

I really hope this gets passed, i used to use orbit to lift injured people (outside of combat) as means of a stretcher and it sucks that I just have to rp dragging them now. I dont think ive ever seen orbit abused and it makes sense that the weight distribution is what they could carry cause it gets spread out upon them.

I agree with the moon path as well because sun path is a clear winner and moon path is REALLY cool. But its lacking I think the update allowing it to work as auric oil would give it a needed boost to bring things up to the same level while keeping it very different.

As far as condensing goes, I miss the wall thing, considering kani users cant use heavy armor and the like it would really help moon pathers. Perhaps if doing it impromptu bothers st perhaps it could be something like a build up , 1x1 for one emote, but a second emote could raise it to 2x1
