  1. 1. What mode of conflict should be the default?

Recommended Posts

LoTC as it stands has little in the way of conflict on player-to-player level. Of the combat-roleplay-encounters I've experienced in the past two months, ALL OF THEM have had some kind of arguements. I've roleplayed in all kinds of scenarios, banditry, kingdom/geopol conflict, event conflict-ALL OF THEM THAT HAD CRP, DEVOLVED INTO ARGUING.

How can we fix this? Is it a problem with the server, or the playerbase?

Nothing ever happens

As usual it's a divided issue that just won't change on account of the admins scarcely play the game they create. (Like seriously, has any admin ever used an alt account and tried to just do a normal CRP encounter? Would be plenty willing to bring anyone for a ride along). See you in 6 months when we make this post again because nothing has changed.

Also props to the wishful thinkers that actually put pvp default.

the CRP default period has been really funny, but the server really just jumped into it without having any idea of how it would handle it

now 2-ish years later we still have no idea how to make a functional CRP system

might as well go to defender default again, but I don't think it's a huge deal either way

Personally, it comes down to if the two people can respect the other not to abuse their magic or abilities.

I've had just as many, if not less, arguments during CRP default as I have during Defender Default. Defender Default just caters to pvp goons imo. The way we have it right now is fine

It might be nice to explain the other types of Combat Systems for those who are unfamiliar with them.

I mean- I know them! Certainly... but... for everyone else.

if you're voting for crp default you fall into one of two categories (or both)

1) you have a magic/magical item and you want to flex it

2) you're one of the people that make crp experiences unbearable because you immediately go into ooc to explain why you're right and why the ferryman attacking you is wrong

It all really depends on what you care about on this server. CRP, PVP, defender default - are just means to achieving the definition of a victory over another player - and we need to determine whats most conducive to RP as a whole from the perspective of a shared narrative.

100%

My opinion is that defender default gave the option of choice. If I were to have little time, say an hour before work, and I were to be rolled up on (this never happens) I want the choice to pvp to defend my minecraft pixels and rp dignity. If I the pvp goon go and rob a crp enjoyer and they want to crp then that's what will happen.

Let players who are initiated on in conflict scenarios choose their preferred methods.

This is correct.

The arguments of the Defender Default - or even PVPDefault - crowd, outside of one Wolfdwg who argues the idea on just giving the player the choice on how they want to defend themselves, have not been convincing to me. And personally I believe CRPDefault is more conducive to RP than PVP/Defender Default as a result of it being primarily defaulting to what we use for essentially every other interaction on the server - roleplay.

Cheers.

Teach everyone magic. Then you can just point at the redlines if there's any debate and blame staff :D
