man, thats a hard one to say. ive interacted with so many awesome characters over the years. what i really appreciate in a character is one that can make me feel immersed in the world, and makes me think "oh, this isnt just someone behind a screen." i appreciate characters that feel really human, with all the quirks and edges that go with it. and simply, just characters that are fun, and purposeful in what they are trying to say, or what story they are telling with their roleplay. 

 

that being said, at the top of my list is @Morigung-oog's character Valindra. we have rp'd with each other for the last couple of months, and it has been an absolute joy becoming so familiar with their character. valindra is the kind of character that really makes me feel immersed in the world, during both the mundane moments, and the incredible moments of transformative growth- of which there have been so many. she started cold, distant, guarded, and secretive around near everything - even her physical appearance, which was hidden behind masks and glasses. over the span of the last couple months, she has become unguarded, trusting, warm, and above all, caring (at least to my character). seeing, and tracking that kind of transformation has been incredible. she singlehandedly made my character believe life is worth living, and prevented me from pursuing a PK route with him. i also think the internal dynamic/conflict valindra has is really cool. its this pull between wishing to do good, but being forced to do evil. its one ive sought after for some of my own characters, as i think its a pretty interesting dynamic. at her heart, i think valindra is a character who truly wants to do good and redeem her evil past, but gets dragged back in to the cults and circles of evil that made her into who she is. whether she will be able to break free some day, and become a truly good aligned character will be something interesting to watch, just as all the other growth has been. the amount of work mori has put in to valindra is incredible, and it really shows in every single emote. so yeah, im a big fan of valindra nullivari, shes a badass girlboss who is very strong willed, funny, and just genuinely a blast to interact with. also mori is the best roleplayer on lord of the craft ^_^

 

another one of my favorite characters i encountered was @M1919's character Conan. we only rp'd once, but his was another character that made me feel very immersed in the world and has stuck with me. in the RP session i shared with him, i had come to solgaard looking for information on how best to kill a wyvern. it turned into a 4 hour long ordeal where i broke my sleep schedule to keep rp'ing with conan, because he was that interesting. my character greiret met conan, and they began speaking about how best to kill a wyvern. after making a few vocabulary mistakes (s*lga*rdians is banished from my vocabulary), greiret had asked how best he might honor the people of the land when he walked among them. conan bid him to walk with him through the village, through the fields of wheat his people had grown, and the surrounding woods in which his people worked. conan explained the culture of the norns, the economy, what people do, only to ultimately stop at a statue of a dead halfling, who conan explained had died fighting a wyvern. this sparked a conversation about the nature of norns, and their respective lives as a human and an elf. conan had explained how it is a norns greatest honor to die, as a life led in glory leads to paradise - valhalla. he spoke on the envy humanity has for the immortality of elves, too. my character explained  the envy some elder elves, such as himself, carried for humanity - to know an afterlife with their kin awaits them is a blessing. to persist, and watch all those you care about perish... that is no thing to envy. there was this cool mutual appreciation they shared for one another after that i felt like. but yeah, conan is a really cool character who was a joy to interact with, even if it was extremely brief. i hope i get to interact with him again some day. 

also right back at you king (karl the third), youre an incredible and very friendly person who really knows how to make RP go somewhere. i feel the same, i hope we get to RP again soon. <3

to date? sir milonir always. all of my characters have had some really awesome moments, badass moments, funny moments, mundane moments and everything else in between. but sir milonir.. god. like i said earlier, literally every day with him was something new and engaging. rp with him was so funny, and it was awesome to have a character who could go from being a blubbering, overweight idiot of a man, to the great strong knight sir milonir, deadly hunter of the enemies of house weiss within a span of like 3 emotes. ive been considering making a character like him sometime, maybe his daughter. ive joked around in vc sometimes that in the time i was gone, he went off to a foreign kingdom overseas seeking glory, and earned a castle which he named whitecastle. he fell in love with, and married a noblewoman who teaches him about personal hygiene, and they had like 8 kids or something crazy. talking about him today has made me want to make this character happen sooner, so... its probably just a matter of time until i make millonira fatchikov of whitecastle. :p 

 

i genuinely cannot wait for the day millonira of whitecastle graces the lands of aevos. you are SUCH a delight molly, i hope to see you around in game very soon!

p.s. i am surviving nursing school and will graduate this december.

You’ve never failed to amaze with the depth and thought you put into your characters and you’re by far one of the best rpers I’ve encountered during my time on LOTC. I hope more people see this because you deserve the acknowledgement!

you are one of the brightest lights in haense, and this community at large sarah. i hope whenever millonira walks into valdev on her first day at haense high school, she becomes besties with whatever character ur running at the time. <3

i have like. a weekly gush session about you mori but i cant help it bc you are one of the best ppl ive met in a long while. ur such a genuinely kind, caring, and thoughtful person - thats really rare on lotc, and really rare in the world. i dont have the words in my vocabulary to explain how much it means to me that youve been there for me in these last few scary months when ive really needed a friend, but it means the whole world to me. it is such an honor that i get to call you my friend. it makes me so happy i've had the privilege of getting to know you the last few months, and i truly hope we get to share a big glass of sangria at dusk in the summer someday. also ur funny as hell how do you do it

means the world coming from the best guy on lotc. i rant and rave about you all the time even if you dont hear it. the way you are able to so naturally bring people in is a skill i am so envious of, and so easily you make everyone feel welcomed and like they have a place at the table. i hope you know that you're the person who taught me what roleplay can be, and how to tell unforgettable stories. whether you know it or not, you also taught me what it means to be a friend. that means the world to me. love you to death broski. 

yea ever since TLAOBNOH experiment though, it has almost felt like... idk. almost like the lights are on but no one's home? i cant stop thinking about that. it keeps me up at night.
