A little ridiculous how alot of people want to go BACK to the Aegis map... I've seen videos of it, and honestly, it was pretty bad compared to Asulon.

As far as building goes? For the most part, yes. As far as RP, Fun, and having a kick-ass time? Aegis was soooooo much better.

I actually really, really like that idea. We could also make the 'rich' diamond mines be close to barren in actual diamonds. Remember rich is relative. Having one diamond per million blocks is 'rich' compared to no diamonds per million blocks.

I'm not saying that should be the rate, but having few diamonds and few gold floating through the economy would be well... interesting. Also when we head to the new continent, I would like to see the dwarfen nation as literally HUGE. The city itself would be of typical size, but the caverns around it should be enormous, possibly even spanning the size of the entire continent. And on that note - sea level should be set at roughly 128 to allow really, really deep chasms.

Ill put up screenshots of what I'm rambling on about soon.

I want dwarven mithril. NOW!

good thing about small-mid continents would be fewer 2 man villages popping up in 5000+ from spawn wilds locations for the sake of somebody being king

course, I can't say much, putting together a town 3800 from spawn, but that's with actual population and RP/ooc purpose

unifying all of the races into single kingdoms, though nice for population density in theory, isn't necessarily so, take the Holy Oren Empire, single mega-empire, but in the end it's stretched over a huge amount of land with numerous cities, dozens of towns, and uncountable villages

course, you could limit the number of settlements, but then you remove the RP/irl reality of people leaving settlements and starting their own for the sake of political/economic/religious aims, not to mention that it would lead to "staticness" and avoid that over time certain settlements get completely and utterly wiped off the map (natural disasters such as Crete or war such as Carthage)

in an off note, that always bugged me how rare it is for a conquering nation to just wipe a settlement off the map, perhaps I'd be the pariah for destroying people's hardwork and creativity, but it'd solve the Oren problem, probably limit the constant splintering of the Dwarven kingdoms etc. etc.

/poorly thought out rant

edit: please no race-locked sorts of items and production, making it to where say the dwarves have obscene amounts of ore isn't that bad, but don't make say diamonds a dwarf only thing unless you plan to give something equally pivotal to each of the other nations/races

I really hope a new map does not surface for quite some time. I think people have finally settled in Asulon and found their bearings. It took us almost a year, but I've noticed almost all racial nations have gotten their RP improved dramatically and OOC clutter sorted out. Elves, orcs, dwarves and humans are all relatively stable and I forsee a good future ahead. It'd be a shame to lose it all if we head to a new map, and start again with whining and fussing for a year.

J say we take out the wilds, and force players to RP. it may deter a few people, but not anyone we want.

We have already established that the wilds are needed as they are life-blood for many new players. However, I can understand why you wouldn't want people out there, so I will say, next to no resources out there, which I can agree with, just trees and maybe a little coal. Also, if possible just Vaq to code some contraption which reduces drop rates by a half. Force them back to populated zones.

Also, I think the dwarves should have all the Diamonds. I mean ALL of them. Diamond weapons and armor act as something such as mythril, a very powerful and scarse mineral. This would mean that everyone who wants to get Diamond weapons will have to count on the dwarves special making them and selling them at redicoulosly high prices, making it for people in Asulon to have to go much farther and work much harder, maybe 5 jobs at once. This would make diamond weaponry much more difficult to aquire and feel much more like a legendary mineral.

Not trying to be put down the Dwarves, but if they had all the diamonds they would get conquered immediately.. There'd be a warclaim on them from nearly every race before people even had towns built. It sounds fun to do a sort of "Mines of Moria" thing in theory, but diamonds wouldn't be like mithril in LotR. They'd be like oil in the Middle East.

Reasources need to be harder to get in 3.0 so it would be like "should i go raid or stay and keep my one set of iron armor safe". PEople shouldnt get stacks upon stacks of items it should be rare and harder to get and more valuable.

AM I the only person who thinks getting even IRON PLATE ARMOR is too easy? In the medieval times that stuff wasn't cheap. Come to think of it...

Leather armor should be the cheapest, this could be resolved by making cows drop a LOT more leather at once. I mean, there is enough leather on a cow to make a tunic, but no, I have to kill a minimum of 9 to get anywhere.

After that should be chainmail. This should be the standard for a fighting force. Made exactly the way iron armor currently is. Ingots, not a mix of ingots and smoothstone.

Iron armor would be much rarer. I could see an armies shocktroops and lower ranking commanders using this. No longer made of ingots, but rather, IRON BLOCKS surrounding the matching piece of leather and chainmail.

Diamond and gold would be the stuff of legends, nothing short of a rich lord could own this. Gold armor, would be ingots surrounding the matching piece of leather armor. Diamond would be diamonds surrounding the matching piece of GOLD armor.

Like a tier system, sort of, and in order to make anything you need to have access to cows. Cows which only the human kingdom(s) could have. See, now the dwarfs and the humans are reliant upon each other and I'm sure with the creative minds on this server we could think of more ways.

I really like that idea. The fact is ordinary warriors should not be able to have diamond armor. Peasant infantry should have chainmail, knights and lesser noblemen should have iron and only commanders should have diamond. This would make Lotc a lot more realistic.

I agree with most of what you said their, but instead of gold and diamond being improvements on existing armor I think they should be made out of blocks of their material

See thats where NO ONE would attempt to attack the dwarves. Oil isn't a weapon but Mythril (diamonds) can become one. Not only would more people like to be a dwarf for their riches there would also be a lot more resources for them to make armor and weapons to arm an army easily and fend off the enemy. Not to mention the amazing advantage they have in the dwarven caverns. You would either "get along" with the dwarves and answer to the ridiculous prices, OR you can attack them with your leather armor and stone swords.
