[Feedback/bug Reports] New Patch

Things such as Signs, Chests, or Beds should not require a Lumberjack level, IMO. Stuff like that will lead to more waiting for a lumberjack to get online than actually RPing with him.

That, and Wood/Stone tools should be made requirement-free. If the other stuff has reqs., great, but the basics should not.

Told Vaq about the planks not working.

I also agree about the signs, and sticks for example.

Want to hear my opinion?

Do something that will actually help new players that could be entering our server. Because these are those types what this patch is hurting.

This.

Previously skills were already a pain to grind for new players; with such restrictions in place, it will be even more discouraging starting out from scratch. Though I doubt Vaq is going to take a step back and lift many of these restrictions, stone equipment and basic crafts should remain open to all. Otherwise, I can foresee RP and overall progress being held back.

No one seems to notice when someone does somethin' right these days! - you should go look to see how freya spent hours overhauling the new player experience so everything is made clear - perhaps we can start them off with a tool of each style aswell - a gift from the monks as they start their journey.

Alright Signs and sticks are going to be crafted normal now, but if you have lvl 5 for woodcutting you get double the sticks.

Also Relgrad Doors, workbench, beds that's not even in the patch you can craft those normal, your either making things up or some one is lieing to you.

I can definitely vote a big agree on basics.

But I'd go as far as saying only wood tools and weapons should not have requirements.

I don't exactly see why we've uped the restrictions regarding the skill system when it is already nigh impossible to scale. I know many, many newbs who just gave up on the server, unable to compete with those in Aegis who easily got skills up, especially in regards to combat.

What really is the point of grinding? Some characters enter the server old and veteran, some enter young and untrained. This is an RP server, one shouldn't be forced to grind against hundreds of mobs so their character makes sense. I'm not a fan of scaling up the RPG aspect, which takes away from the RP immersion.

Regarding specifically this patch, I cannot agree with restricting wooden craftings. New players have it extremely hard as noted above, and this restriction just makes it so they have to scramble through cities begging for a smith or craftsman to craft for them. It's already hard enough; lets not make it hard. I know too many new players who struggle as it is and I do not like to see their burden enhanced, especially when the RP value barely compensates.

The RP behind the constant refrain of "oh this will be great RP! The farmer needs to contact the baker who will bake and then send the food through the craftsmen and then through the army" is not much of an enhancement. These interactions have never been very RP'd, mainly just a very brief "Can you Repair my stuff? Sure, 50 minas. *hands minas* Thanks." and all this does is force people to assume these brief RP's, waiting and waiting for their local craftsman to get on.

This also is horrid for those Aussies and Asians, because their respective timezones only have ~50 or so people, spread out ALL across Asulon. It's incredibly difficult for them to be able to find their designated craftsmen, and they would have to scour all of asulon just to find him or her, to do a small menial task like make a chest or a stone sword.

I think that a free skill reset should be given to everyone at this point, just to set things straight.

Well I am just curious as to what 'sailing' is...

XXnDD.png

Not once is it mentioned again after this point.

Edit: Oh, and I agree with Hawk on the diving stuff... I mean, we don't even know what 'steam' is at this point. How can we make working diving helmets? I imagine that someone is shoving a bucket on their head and hoping that they can catch a bit of air in there when they go under or something.

While I do think that the breathing rods are an awesome idea, why does someone need to be trained in fishing to stick their mouth on a hollow stick and breath?

I believe essencials should be keeped for everyone. This means chests, crafting table, and tools up to stone, and wooden planks. On the other hand, wodden slabs and stairs should be the ones to require lumberjacking skill.

The rest is good, but I feel that excavation is now monsly useless, and that lumberjacking and blacksmith much important.

And this is a question, but do high lvl cooks get more bread?

Grinding has been in LOTC since in Aegis, this patch adds absolutely no grind. The grind has always been there.

Most of the complaints i've been seeing is to due with PvP. The axes shouldn't even be considered. I'd prefer if there was no PvP skills at all, PvP skills endorse grinding. PvP skills have been around since Aegis, grinding has been here since then, and this patch has not changed it at all. It NEVER went away.

I do agree with Cyndiikate about the whole hurting the new players and all that jazz. There is an extreme learning curve and it does hinder any progression to our player base due to the fact that no one really wants to put a lot of time into these skills unless they really want to grind. Which is unfavorable.

Grinding in itself just takes away from the RP; it does not let one immerse into their characters as they are forced to hack at trees for hours at end or kill mobs at hours at end, to be able to assume their character. It just wastes time and detracts from potential RP time.

I really enjoy the patch. But... Archery. Archer should be good at making bows / more arrows, not lumberjack. Archer know how his bow is made, and how to make arrows, so that's more RP like to let him craft these things. Also He should get more loot from cows, pigs, and sheeps, while he kill them with arrows, that's called hunting.

Edit: Yes... This is grinding. But also forces people to play more like society, not like "forever aloners", aka I need blacksmith friend, to make me armor. And farmer friend to get food. I will supply them with iron, and leather.

Edit2: We have lumberjacks, miners, blacksmith, fighters, cook, and farmer. Everyone is happy, becouse whole society enjoy 100 lvl of their lvl.

Ideally support for the new players should be provided by the common, veteran player. You can give them a set of basic tools at the temple upon joining for the first time, yes, though a majority of starters yearn to explore the vast world that is Asulon. Eventually that player will likely join a guild, perhaps a kingdom or solitary village. With this new skills system, handing out jobs to new players will be a much larger hassle, as the provider will have to babysit them to ensure tool distribution coincides with work flow.
