Conquest:

Conquest is the act of military subjugation of an enemy by force of arms. In other words it is the de jure incorporation of some territory into another geo-political entity (either adjacent or non-contiguous). Usually, it is implied that the territory and population being annexed is the smaller, more peripheral, and weaker of the two merging entities, barring physical size.

----------=====================----------

The discussion of the current housing situation has always been a passing topic within the High Council. Though recently with the influx of residents coming back to Malinor from the Mainlands and the surrounding wilds, subject turned more serious.

The High Princess, Sythra Duskwind had spoken to Prince Isirack about the situation. Both had gone over the housing ledgers and realized that the Elder Tree Isle could not hope to support the ever growing population.

That evening Sythra looked over a roughly made map of Asulon. The map was crude, due only a mere fifty years of exploration and cartography. However major features such as forests, oceans, lakes, and mountains were clearly marked.

She looked at the mainlands and shook her head. "Those lands are plagued by strife, and hold little in the way of natural beauty." Sythra then looked at the eastern lands and frowned in thought. No maps in Malinor's records ever showed any settlements besides the Isle ArmaLuna.

She spotted what appeared to be a rather large lake. She had visited this lake in the past while visiting a finely constructed lakeside cottage owned by two longtime acquaintances, Chrix and Ukar. She quickly marked a circle around the area of this lake before rolling up the map and left for the Grand Council Hall.

Assembled in the Hall were Princes Isirack and Dante, Princess Elene, and of course High Princess Sythra herself. She laid out the map before them and spoke about how this lake could be the heart of a new settlement. The four agreed to explore the land together.

The four princes and princesses arrived at the cottage that Sythra had visited before. They stayed there that evening for in the wilderness, vile monsters lurk the moonless nights. That morning they traveled north till they reached the mountains. In the afternoon they traveled south to the southern edge of the forests. And in the evening they traveled east to the other edge bordering the oceans.

For the most part, the area appeared to be unexploited wilderness. Abandoned camps were found, the settlers long since moved on. Either finding new lands to explore, or perishing to the elements or monsters that always hunted in such lands. Simple cottages dotted the lake itself, but like the camps, there we no inhabitants to speak of.

The only peculiar settlement was to the east along a small peninsula. A small fort was constructed. Even lined with advanced weaponry such as cannons. However the cannons were rusted from age and exposure and the fort laid in disuse. It was hard to tell when the builders of such a fort were last present.

That night the four returned to the cottage and discussed the course of action. The council members present decided a settling expedition would land within an elven week. The Sentinels would similarly be deployed to protect the expeditionary party from any hostile forces be it bandits or monsters.

In addition notices were placed at every camp, cottage, and fort the Princes and Princesses found. They are to be given a one elven week annexation notice. This would allow the settlers that came before Malinor to retrieve their belongings, or become part of the Princedom if they so wished.

----------=====================----------

The notices read:

Greetings residents,

This is an Annexation Notice from the Holy Princedom of Malinor. The surrounding lands will be claimed by the Holy Princedom in an Elven Week's time. We respect your desire to dwell in your settlement and will allow you to do so if you choose to allow yourselves to be annexed into the Princedom.

If this is not your desire however, we will allow you that elven week's time to retrieve and relocate your belongings to another settlement of your choosing. We ask that you do not physically resist this annexation. Instead send word to the High Council of the Princedom and we can arrange for a fair and just compensation.

It is our desire to develop and dwell in these lands as a Malinorian settlement. The natural beauty of the surrounding forests and the lake itself will be preserved. In addition the forests on a whole will be expanded over the peninsula itself.

Thank you for your understanding.

-High Princess Sythra Duskwind

OOC Notes:

The pumpsplot region is owned by pumpkin_eaters who has not logged in 3 months. The region was a landscar when we originally found it, but it seems to have been fixed in the last couple of days by a GM. (Kudos to the one that did :) )

The droolguyaetherplot region is owned by droolguy, a citizen of Malinor. I have already spoken to him about being annexed and he is fine with it.

Other owners include in various unregioned camps (identified by /cinfo on chests):

Slapacookie

sean_kyle

OrangeAngel

Everyone that has items in the area will have enough time to move their belongings. If anyone knows these individuals, please point them here so they can see the notices. I have also posted notices at the individual settlements as well.

I want there to be no metagaming on this. If you are not involved with these lands at the posting of this warclaim, please do not simply make a new settlement out there for the sake of opposing.

As for compensation. I would like to try and resolve that ICly as much as possible. I understand that no one ever wishes to leave their homes or even lose items. So if your things are taken, (as in you didn't get around to seeing this in time or were not able to retrieve them) then compensation can be given. But as I said, I'd like to work out the details ICly. Enough information is given so that your characters will know whom to contact.

[[i don't think this is how conquest works. They are empty private plots and wilderness. This is a 'give me region access' claim - probably more suitable for a modreq, and to do with charters [for a new village/settlement]].

((A similar warclaim was done by the Kharajyr. I wanted to give the residents an offical heads up so they could move their belongings if they wished. I know most of it is long long abandoned by I wanted to give the courtesy.

If I don't need a conquest and can simply get a charter I can do that instead. I was going to do the charter after the event. Just keep me updated on exactly what I need to do.))

You cannot take private plots unless the owners say yes. This is a message for others who see this. Owners of these plots have agreed, or are inactive [ ]

Sean Bradshaw reads the notice. He returns to ArmaLuna and carefully writes an official letter, seals it, attaches it to a bird, and sends it off.

Just wondering, whats the point of getting a private plot for donating when it can be taken away?

If you aren't going to be active with it then why ask for it?

Is there a problem that i simply ask a question?

No! Not at all and I meant what I said in a very gentle manner. It's just that there isn't a point to a private lot unless you do something with it. So if you do something with it and just leave it then you are essentially leaving a hole in all things RP. The transfer of land is needed in order to continue the fluidity of the world.

I am deeply sorry if my before comment offended. I should have explained my opinion with care.

Because if people couldn't rply take a private plot due to ooc reasons then we'd have an issue, but the owner of the private plot can always get a new plot when they lose their old one.
