No... the groups that already dominate don't need more items. We shouldn't be trying to make things based around this area, anyways.

It's a side thing, not the main part of the Island.

Or you could form groups to try to kill the more dominate groups. I wouldn't see why you wouldn't, you would get rewarded if you do take control.

I got a question though, not regarding the 'no-RP kill' zone, but the islands themselves. Does the islands have different biomes, as in for example, one being a snowy island, and the other one a desert? I hope they're all pretty much the same, as it would make no sense to have a warm climate next to a freezing one.

I think I can see what Relgard is saying, here, and I might agree. The truth is, island or not, we already have groups like this in the world already, and it wouldn't be anything new. It would, instead, be more of the same, just in a different location with a slightly different context.

What I hope for is more of a breakdown of groups, where the comfort in numbers and familiarity are lost as even your friends and allies grow hostile toward you. Imagine a place where everyone slowly needs to achieve their own goals, instead of the group's, and suddenly everyone around you seems like an obstacle that would deny you that goal. That kind of thing could bring characters to their knees, questioning their own nature that, up until this point, seemed so sure. Almost like the Island were the One Ring from Lord of the Rings, and we were all carrying it. That kind of thing interests me, but I have no clue what the island and lore around it are actually like.

And still, this would result in the same groups already dominating things still dominating things.

Not everything needs to be a competition. This is to be a free area where individuals or small groups can fight, not another area to take control of.

I'm personally all for the compromise. I think that would introduce some lovely aspects to 2.5.2, making it a unique experience for all to remember.

It wouldn't make sense in real life, you're correct. Luckily for us, this is fantasy where anything is possible. Each island is specifically made to suit the preferences of the race that inhabits it, so a desert for the orcs and a snow mountain for the dwarves. Yes, they are next to each other, but let's not worry about what should make sense and instead let's focus on what's best for each of the races and will bring the most fun to them.

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no and you can't trust the poll because the majority of players will just be trying to catch a free ride into villainous deeds VA's are to mandate villainous activity and each player with a VA is expected to act in an exceptional manner. Mark my words of this is added it will not be enjoyable - and villains are supposed to create enjoyable rp.

If people want to sit in a house and type at each other for their entire time on the server, so be it, you stay safe and do that.

But if someone wants to have a little fun, live life on the edge and perhaps gain some hefty rewards or whatever, they should be allowed to as well, this idea of a badlands seems to allow that, so why the hell not.

-Sunetejibar realises bandits live on that island-

-Sunetejibar couldn't care less-

-Sunetejibar gets PVP'd on the island-

Yes, Sand Demons don't really care about bandits.

How silly, I imagine that after a few brutal fights out there they will feel a little differently, eh? Perhaps not afraid... but frustrated, enough not to go back.

Frankly, I dislike the idea. This will simply give poor, lazy RPers with poor grammar and powergaming tendencies to go and kill people for their items or so they can feel like winners. I'm sorry, and I hate to be this blunt, but I'm really opposed to this. It will give LOTC a bad reputation. The point of the VA system is to filter our poor RPers. If one is not capable of writing a proper VA, then that person should not be given the privilege to RP villainous actions, nor would they truly be adding to the server with that type of roleplay.

As for No-RP zone. Hah. No. If you want to PvP THAT badly, just go to a PvP server. If you don't want to RP, then you shouldn't be here.

Finally. I do hope Elysium will not be lost. Frankly, I'm not up for moving until 3.0 comes out, and I'm perfectly happy with the situation I have on Elysium, as are many others.

*must always win 2k13*

You may keep your little comments to yourself until you have proper understanding of what you are speaking of, how about that?

On second thoughts, that wasn't very nice.

But anyway, if you wish to say such comments, I urge you to first go read lore and understand what you are talking about properly. Then, if you still feel like that's justified I'l be happy to explain to you why it isn't.

I really dislike both ideas to be honest...

I think that it was said that items might not be dropped upon death, and I don't like you insulting other members of the server, calling some poor, lazy, having bad grammar, etc. Come on now, you don't have to be rude :(

Okay then, that's cool. I have to voice my opinions on this matter though, as far as fantasy goes.

There's a clear difference between unrealistic fantasy and realistic fantasy. Sure, we have mages and otherworldly races, battle-crazed blood drinkers and cannibalistic cults. This does not mean realism is an obstacle in this matter. Lotc has RL physics despite this being a 'fantasy rp server'.

Having four different islands with different biomes so close to each other does lower the immersion and enjoyment of the server, in my opinion. It doesn't 'feel' realistic, but the quite opposite; unrealistic. This reason is perhaps why I've chosen to stay away from the temporary maps for the last few weeks, because of this complete disregard of simple physics, and instead throwing one of those "fantasy" arguments to back it up.

Take a look at other fantasy games. Have they disregarded this? Hardly. They've made sure to come up with a realistic environment (at least with the more earthly regions), and at the same time included common fantasy props and features. Now, with Lotc being an RP server, this is what should be more focused on; realism 'in fantasy'. If fantasy MMOs, RPGs and etc. can make it, why can't we?

Nice with racial preferences or not: realism should not be affected by this.

I'd prefer it if it island was just more relaxed. Instead of hardcore roleplayers that roam around the server now, take the middle island back to Aegis style times when the RP was casual and fun.
