You're all assuming that if it's PVP default you will never be able to RP again, I myself rarely RP fight and I've been in a lot of fights since RP fighting was made default.

If anything people will be able to roleplay more. I really thought the community wanted to rp, not... this.

Oh well, personally I think that there'd be far more time to have decent quality rp if there combat was short and quick and not much attention payed.

So, what...? Be a psychopath, but don't go and hurt people...? That's not really psychopathy... And Knox has weapons of course, or he wouldn't be much of a psychopath, would he? And yes, of course it makes little sense to go attack large armoured people, but that's the idea of a psychopath, they're not meant to make sense, and no OOC rule edit will make me change my character.

Kinda at a loss...

All you've said is that your psychopath character will attack people but you're unhappy that you lose? Is there some sort of unspoken law of insanity that dictates psychos are at more of an advantage than the normal man and so should not be killed as easily as a normal man?

You think in any setting if a man felt threatened by some crazy man at the side of the road, that they would have any second thoughts about splitting the man in two for their own safety? No. Not unless the creepy man can talk his way out of it, use his ingenuity and insanity to his advantage, gain trust, and then strike. It's not hard and is a hell of a lost more rewarding.

It seems most people are desperately clinging to what is left of their 'easy way' of roleplay, roleplay is meant to be unpredictable, you cannot see into the future and therefore should not be disappointed or angry at what the future holds for you when you do something warranting a reaction of some severity.

You're simply cutting out combat roleplay. You're not adding anything whatsoever. People will have more time to put into walking around and talking I suppose, but we already do that. Please don't make it sound like you're gifting us a whole new experience of RP.

I know Kings should be courageous, but you don't need to fight to be a King...

Also, I had one of the worst PC's out of anyone on LOTC.  I PvP'd a fair bit, and didn't do too badly. If I lost, I lost. Too bad! Then my PC broke, and i'm using a Laptop from like... 1994. It's older than me. It runs minecraft at 1-5fps. I'll still PVP regardless, whether i'm going to win or lose. Your argument doesn't hold water, unless i'm a magical exception to the rule.

I mainly find ways of accomplishing my goals without fighting nowadays. I mainly bribe and manipulate people into fighting for me, if I need to. People seem to think that combat is the be-all-and-end-all of LOTC. It really isn't.

PVP doesn't bring poor RP. 100% of the Undead's Public (not private) RP was PVP, and it was wonderful for RP.

Undead had the mechanics to bring their magical RP to PvP due to the plugin. Even then there was little RP other than "DEATH TO THE ASCENDED!" and "IBLEES SHALL RULE!" whilst spamming lightning and fireballs. While it created a nice atmosphere it really only worked in large battle situations (which is where PvP is acceptable imo).

How to roleplay on a PVP-RP server:

YOU KEEP DOING THE SAME THING YOU'RE DOING NOW.

Just with less fighting and more tact.

It's not supposed to be a PvP-RP server... it's a Roleplay server.

PVP is RP.

I LIKE IT RIGHT NOW! PVP IS OPTIONAL!

With pvp default I may miss the unsheathes sword emote, and get beat up unknowingly.

I also like Gaius' it was a bit confusing to be honest, but was stilla  good COMPROMISE

PVP can very much be RP. It only takes imagination, something vital to roleplay servers.

I have honestly gotten sick, and tired of all the power gaming. Makes me not even want to play someone who makes stuff fun for people. PVP default, cuts the powergamey BS.

Consider this:

If battles were short and quick then it would be a complete waste of time to role-play training your character. At least with a role-play default you would be able to prove that you are stronger by screenshots and the amount of time you have role-played training. Even though I have been told of the many power-gamers that dodge every single hit and are ultimate warriors, they shouldn't be much of a problem... Don't like the role-play those god-gamers bring? Then void the role-play and be done with it. That way they will feel forced to actually train and be realistic during battle, thus eliminating all problems.

With Player Versus Player, your Out of Character utilities and their quality only matter, as well as your experience with Player Versus Player.

I am no fighter - Aphasto is a scholar. I do not argue for my own benefits, but for the sake of role-play.
