Yes the announcement was clumsy, but if PvP is default PvP-hungry players could (probably) force players who'd rather RP into PvP, just as now the PvPers are forced to RP. I forsee massive amounts of pain for fluffy characters who will get jumped by 5-10 White Rose bandits/thugs whatever, and forced to PvP. Perhaps the thugs are item-hungry or not, still less fun for the other guy. The idea that you can force PvP on someone is just ridiculous and will put lots of the peaceful or good RPers at the complete mercy of item-hungry idiots who got VAs because of their item-hungry idiot friends. Encourage PvP, don't require it.

Wrong. Good RPers are all not villains. And yet, not all villains try to cause violence. Maybe you don't understand, but in these 'RP' times, you'd be a fool trying to fight everything and everyone.

I just want to state something clearly.

I vote for RP Default because my characters, if on PVP default, would depend on me as an OOC persona, my OOC computer, my OOC internet (Which is 100 kbp/s, possibly the slowest of the server.), and my OOC skill to spam-click. I'm almost always beaten in PVP, and I want to say I'm full-out against this.

I have to ask, STaff. While many, many people voted for PVP Default, most voted for other options, what will come to them?

RP fighting depends on OOC knowledge of weaponry and fighting, OOCly being able to make "better" emotes by cramming in every word in the thesaurus, etc.

Wait, so bandits currently can't attack peaceful RPers/fluffy characters? None of that argument made any sense to me. And plus, we have the knockout plugin so PVP doesn't help item-hungry people.

No, of course not!  It's just that. . well, I see how you mean.  However, in the changes to said plugin announced in the stream death in PvP outside of duels will, as I understand it, kill you properly, not just knock you out.

As I write this, there is a brawl raging outside Malinor, and it's massively confusing, and I'm begining to understand the idea behind PvP as default.  Perhaps it could be default for large parties only?  PvP as a default for all scenarios still gives a massive advantage to those thugs I mentioned, implemented fully.

Are you kidding me? All they have to do once pvp is done is ask the dead player to /d 20.

Granted that does happen in RP fights as well. . But I maintain forcing PvP is evil.

The "#1" -> RP <- server which may have -> PvP <- as default? Logic, I see how you decide to apply today.

Really though, what?

If you watched the livestream, you would've actually seen that Knockout will be removed and replaced with a system where the killer gets about 10% of the victim's items while the rest are thrown to the void (except bound items).

I don't know about you, but I would be more frustrated spending upwards of ten minutes in a rather unfulfilling RP fight and being asked to /d20 than in a 30 second PVP fight. You act as if people don't do the same thing through the guise of RP fighting.

There are still many aspects of RP. This is only fighting. And I really doubt that most people fight almost their entire day.

Both systems have the same flaw then however with RP fighting there is more room to take into account variables when PvP just takes into account clicking speed and equipment.

That has killed my urge to encourage pvp on the server. I liked the knockout plugin because it allowed you to keep on rping after the pvp, if that is implemented then I think il go back to supporting rp fighting.

LoTC was even more popular as an RP server when PVP was default. I'm not saying it's because of PVP being default, but it was still the #1 server when PVP was default. So it is quite logical :)

I actually wanted my system as a 'middle-way' IN CASE the vote split completely. We dont know if the vote is truly split because mine was put as a 3rd option.

You're right. There are still many aspects of RP. However, this only concerns one. You will be removing the current combat aspect to replace it. It doesn't stop RP, it just stops combat RP.

Please take a look at the Livestream.

Nothing is going to be purely MC mechanics. It is CoreMechanics, something that I'm quite proud to have devised, and it takes into account far more than your equipment and clicking speed.
