Care to tell us how? :D

Simple, role play is taking the role of someone else. Just because we are a role play server, does not mean we have to do emotes... we just have to take the role of someone else.

If there's a dispute in an RP fight that leads to OOC disagreement then just have a /roll 20 rule and move onto the next attack. It's decisive and can be integrated into an RP fight.

I vote for PVP default. I am a fairly new player, so I am not from Aegis, but from Youtube videos I have seen Aegis seemed to have about 300 players for a regular number, which is almost 200 more then our normal number right now, so the PVP system appeared to have worked. I think it would be good to see a change, which is, what I think, some peoples reasons for not wanting the PVP system. They don't want to have a change. That and they have bad computers for pvping, of course.

But I want to see how this works for the server. It appeared to work good before, and I trust the Aegis veterans. Gaius' system is also very plausible, but I think it should be taken off. Right now, the votes seem to be a close tie, so those 40 or so votes on Gaius' system is detracting from the other options, which I think would make a clear winner.

Kinda at a loss...

All you've said is that your psychopath character will attack people but you're unhappy that you lose? Is there some sort of unspoken law of insanity that dictates psychos are at more of an advantage than the normal man and so should not be killed as easily as a normal man?

You think in any setting if a man felt threatened by some crazy man at the side of the road, that they would have any second thoughts about splitting the man in two for their own safety? No. Not unless the creepy man can talk his way out of it, use his ingenuity and insanity to his advantage, gain trust, and then strike. It's not hard and is a hell of a lost more rewarding.

It seems most people are desperately clinging to what is left of their 'easy way' of roleplay, roleplay is meant to be unpredictable, you cannot see into the future and therefore should not be disappointed or angry at what the future holds for you when you do something warranting a reaction of some severity.

You have entirely misunderstood my points. Completely and utterly.

Nowhere have I stated that I'm 'afraid to lose', and what on Earth are you talking about when you mention: " Is there some sort of unspoken law of insanity that dictates psychos are at more of an advantage than the normal man and so should not be killed as easily as a normal man?" Where have I... I mean what? Nowhere have I said that psychopaths are harder to kill, nowhere, nor have I implied anything of the like...

I don't mind losing, in fact, 80% of the time I end up losing. Yes, if people see a psychopath they're likely to either run away or try and kill it, and again, nowhere have I stated otherwise. My point, is that they simply march up to me and click me to death, which I don't enjoy, rather than roleplay through emotes, which I do enjoy.

And... Why would a psychopath go to attack people, only to "Use their voice" to try and get out of combat?...

Looking at your last paragraph, you appear to be under the impression that my issue is of fear of losing. This is incorrect. My issue is the fact that people will jump to PvP when psychopaths such as myself specialise in long, creepy emotes to build an atmosphere of tension and uncertainty, however when the opposing side jumps to PvP it shoves a massive iron nail right through the purpose of a psychopath.

And how is using you OOC skill in PVP taking the role of someone else? Also, you're basically saying that your char at times can be someone else just for PVP? Sounds edgy to me. Not a good enough explenation.

I hope that after this poll there will be another one without Gaius' system so we will have a more definite winner.

To people saying "We are an RP server". Yes we are. We are a MINECRAFT RP server. So why not use the mechanics of the game which we all RP through.

I think a good idea that if the server will be going to PVP default would to bring back the Skill System then. This way it depends on how players train IG to how good they will be at sword fighting and PVP. This will also make it fair with the amount of time someone has been on the server. That was you arn't being owned by noobs. I believe that will make the server a lot better if it turns to PVP default and it will also help the people who wish for RP combat to see it as more fair. That way its not just how fast you can click down on your mouse.

All in all I still want RP combat though.

I'm not even voting. As a VAT, I should think RP is better, but as a player, I know PVP worked better back in Aegis. I'm torn, and I don't think my one vote will make a difference at this point.

For those complaining about Gaius' option taking votes away from the others: you can simply delete your vote and re-vote. No need to remove the option entirely.

I'm going to have to say RP default.

Gaius' system looked okay, but too many questions can be asked about it. It is not black and white, it still has tons of gray areas. I saw some post saying it can be abused? Well, from my take on it, I have also decided that it can be abused.

Voice of God, people. Listen to the boundless wisdom.

I like it. I think using a roll to settle OOC dispute it a fantastic idea.

This isn't sarcasm, just in case that got into your head somehow.

Guys, remember Telanir's upcoming plugin.

If you haven't watched the livestream, go watch it /now/.

People don't understand that the concept of fighting RPly is still there. They automatically think that they'll die in a fight now. The problem the staff team did was that they didn't explain the situation well enough to those who still don't grasp the concept that RP is still an option, even with PvP default.

The professions plugin is why Telanir abruptly said PvP is default. What is the point of choosing fighting skills in a plugin that doesn't even work in RP? There is none at all. The professions will provide a chance for those who want to actually be a good fighter, to be a good fighter. I remember in Asulon when PvP would commence, I'd get destroyed by someone who actually rolled a fighter and skilled up in it.

I'm no good at PvP, however my characters are good in combat by training and their background lore. Thus if I was to PvP at the majority or all of my battles, I would be losing because of OOC and purely because I'm bad in PvP OOC. It is power gaming to force me to PvP, for I would almost always lose.

I prefer to lose because of RP skill other than because of clicky skill.

Was this Mount and Blade, I'd be fine with having PvP on semi-default... but this is Minecraft.
