I actually like the return of the crypt. Please don't shoot me I think it will definitely help encourage roleplay by concentrating encounters within settlements. There aren't hardly enough bandits out there to rob every helpless victim wandering the empty roads. People will also need to start arming themselves with companions, maybe even hiring mercenaries or guardians, to protect their goods they wish to move. If people take the initiative of this addition, I think roleplay should multiply by a good amount. Fear of the untamed lands is what we need. The benefits definitely sound like they outweigh the inconveniences.

Oh, and Aegis Nostalgia. Woo!

OOC Fear =/= IC Fear.

OOC Fear would be me worrying I'd lose all of my items if some spider popped out of nowhere and rushed me. It's an OOC feeling and the only real "Fear" invoked is worrying about losing my items. I'm not "afraid" that my character would be massively wounded or killed.

IC Fear would be me running away after staring into the crimson eyes of a massive 8' orc wearing an angry expression. Not everyone RPs that, and they shouldn't have to. This is forcing RP on them, and it's just not fun. I play two characters who would run screaming from an unarmored hobo wielding a shiv. One more who is a downright coward. I roleplay fear on my own terms.

Not everything can be perfect. There are going to be fearless characters, brave warriors, hardened brigands, more than there will be children and cowardly humans. If people enjoy RPing something, you shouldn't tell them to RP something else (at least within reason).

No peasant would hire a guard to walk through the woods. The woods are also generally not filled with ravenous undead, massive spiders, and elite sniper skeletons. I like the idea of rickshaws and escorts, but they shouldn't be forced to exist because otherwise one would face the legions of the deceased. Undead, lore-wise, don't even exist on this level.

Can the techs at least reduce the Crypt's waiting time and have no fully funcitonal hunger bars? I'll be a happy man.

The crypt is perfectly fine, but keep it for /damage 20 and when killed by mobs, everything else should be knockout.

The knockout plugin was great, I don't see why it's being removed. It prevents pugsying, allows for combat that doesn't end in death (not all fights end in death, guys), training, and derping around with your friends. Why can't it be left on until we have the Nexxus plugin? In fact, why does it have to be removed with the Nexxus plugin anyway?

I also don't quite understand the point of the crypt, since you're basically being forced to go without RP for five minutes. I don't need to be punished OOCly to get me to RP fear. But we shall see, I suppose.

The Cons?
NoRP kills and pugsies are now possible.

Duels and klomps (klomps being a huge part of the orcs) are no longer practical.
RP fighting now has a collosal advantage over PvP, as it has the functionality for incapacitating and all other forms of not killing.

The Pros?

None whatsoever.

"Adding fear?" People can and will just force RP fights because we're still on RP fight default. Due to the d20 rule you still die when you're killed. The removal And whatever you say about a new plugin being made, finish it and implement it before taking out its predecessor!

All this achieves is to cripple the PvP mechanic. Don't remove knockout until its replacement is ready.

There simply is no good reason to remove knockout. You have almost 6 pages full of people telling you to bring it back. There seems to be a serious disconnect between the Technicians and the players, and the staff at large. You are making decisions that are killing the server, and the evidence is the shrinking playerbase each week. Do you think things are going to get better during the school year? It is only going to get worse, maybe 50 people online during the evening on weekdays in the US. The Australia and GMT playerbase is probably just going to shrivel up and die. For once, we can say that the problem is not a community problem, caused by ooc drama, which there has been relatively little of since the mogmen left, but a staff one. I do not think Nexus us going to save the server, if anything, it is going to drive people away who don't want a skills plugin. This server, for what seems like forever ago, used to be a server where people could have fun and not worry about the staff stepping in an voiding rp and regulating everything. The server is dying, and it is our fault for trusting the staff to know what the server needs.

Mhm, it's a bit of an issue when the first 'major' battle between this new hyped up antagonist only yields a two hundred player slot fill, and that's a generous estimation, it was more or less 180. Folks claimed that the server would get back on its feet whenever the apparent 'mogmen' left. However just remember the server was capped to its limit, formerly 300, in battles in the past that consisted of Orenian civil wars and the like.

Everything Ebs said is true. Hear hear.

How is this going to make the server more attractive? I just was told by a rather new player that  he plans on leaving because of something similar happened to his previous server. This path will scare away those you want to keep, and bring in those you'd prefer not to come.

Essentially you're selling out right now, attempting to look more attractive yet betray those most loyal to you.'

Although the crypt idea is great, I welcome that return

I truly hope the no knockout plugin is simply for Nexus and not a permanent option as we all know(not saying any names.) a good few people on Lord of the Craft will now abuse that to kill people and avoid rp battles. We are a Roleplay server people not an RP/PVP server...those just end badly. Though I sense Knockout was just conflicting anyway so if there is something better in the Nexus so be it.

Khel is quite correct I do plan to lay out my past experience with a...dare I even call it rp? Rp/pvp server and how such pvp can run wild and completely ruin a servers roleplay.

Yay no knockout, but maybe a 2 minute wait instead of a 5 minute wait for the crypt?

Please, don't get me started on this argument again, it will only end badly for the argument-regurgitating RP default principle. LoTC is Minecraft, not a text based forum RP and never will be. You better get used to it before Nexus arrives, or you'll be in for a big surprise.

Well that was an awful rude way of putting things.

Whoa, whoa, hold up right now.

That is the bullshit that causes people to go into a mass exodus and leave the server. You, along with anyone who has that attitude iMattyz needs to wake the **** up. The server is in fact losing population. It's the middle of summertime and you couldn't even get past a 200 slot mark during the biggest event in recent weeks.

We need to get used to it? How about you open your damned ears and listen to the cries of the community.

Wake up before you only have yourself to play with.
