Ventusyr 233 Share Posted September 7, 2013 Not a bad idea, actually. This is supposed to be somehow a migration from one continent to another. Giant citadels like Kal'Azgoth or Abresi just wouldn't exist from the get-go. That's just odd RP. Having a centralized point with some degree of construction that would be realistic to the situation may actually may a really cool way to go. Think of the Roman village-camps that would pop up in Northern Europe, and later would be reworked and built up and out, while maintaining the same basics. That'd be some really fun RP and allow players to participate in the founding of their nations' new homes. Also, I vote for there to be White Rose / Horen V ruins from where they landed on the new continent then all died off from plague or some ****. It'd be cool. Realism versus fun. A tough argument that has been going on for way too long in LOTC. Is it realistic for people to show up and there to be cities and other bits of civilization? Yes. Is it fun for the playerbase to spend the first month of the server building what they need to establish a center of roleplaying for their nation? No. I used to be all for realistic roleplay, but in Asulon, the cities were never finished. The human capital only had walls, an aqueduct, and a crapton of chests with resources. It was stupid, roleplay was nonexistant in the nation because there wasn't even a nation to roleplay in... As much as I love realistic roleplay, this one would be better to just let slide. Perhaps a previous civilization established themselves in the new continent, and the ruins are left in surprisingly good condition? Or workers were sent out ahead and the cities were ready when everybody else came?

shiftnative 3103 Author Share Posted September 7, 2013 When's..The next..Livestream..:D I exported the map, brought it up in singleplayer and the travel time from spawn to the human capital (walking) is 3 minutes and 30 seconds. I've sent the map to the GM and Admins to run around in to see what their ideas are on the travel distance. What do you guys think?

I'd rather it be too short than too long, because we can always expand. It's harder to shrink.
JCQuiinn 168 Share Posted September 7, 2013 That seems a bit too close. It was closer to five minutes I think back in Aegis.

JCQuiinn 168 Share Posted September 7, 2013 I have to ask, is the plan there for the ocean to actually run off the edge of the world? If so, I approve on many many many levels.
ImpinAintEZ 442 Share Posted September 7, 2013 Needs more islands off the main continent. I agree. I think there needs to be a lot of island. Maybe some in clusters. It would be a very nice free build experience to have them.

Lago 2572 Share Posted September 8, 2013 New maps are inevitable, eventually the one we're on breaks down. Aegis was corrupted, Asulon was far, far too big to the point where everything needed fast travels and was eventually lost to hacking (but after Anthos was in development). Anthos was overregioned and suffered from vested interests in the building.
Leafwind 38 Share Posted September 8, 2013 That seems extraordinarily small, unless you think there is still enough room to build decent sized cities. However, I don't like massive cities where you get lost and most parts go unused so I wouldn't like to see massive plots of land left for capitals.
