A CHURCH UNDER FIRE - A POLEMIC ON THOSE WHO ATTACK THE MOTHER CHURCH 1805, 358 ES I am struck, yet once more, by saddening news. Regarding the events that unfolded a Saint's days ago, at the Basilica of the Ascent in Providence, where I've been a personal witness to the most heinous act one could ever have done. While his Eminence Manfried Cardinalis Providentia carried out the holy sacrament of matrimony, a man wearing the clothing of a nun, rushed in, throwing a fire bottle right where the Solicitor General Ophelia Elizaveta and Cardinal Manfried were. Another jumped in to save the Solicitor General from being burned, while his Eminence had been caught up in flames. I quickly rushed over with Francisco Episcopus Cordoba to assist in extinguishing the flames. With the assistance of Episcopus Francisco, we managed to take the Cardinal and put him in the fountain just behind, filled with Holy water, as the fires were extinguished. Yet, his Eminence still suffered severe burns all over his arm, chest and neck, being in great pain. We quickly escorted him to the clinic as he received treatment by a medic, now lying in bed and recovering. If mine and Episcopus Francisco's response wasn't swift, then we'd have a worse outcome. His Eminence also is missing an arm, why in God's name would anyone wish to harm someone like him? With this, I'd also wish to point out, that the 'nun' in question wasn't a nun, moreso an impostor, a man pretending to be one. People may blame the Church, but it wouldn't make sense that the Church would harm one of their own as well as the Solicitor General of the Empire. I do wonder, though, do people clearly hate the Church and the Empire that much? If we count all the past actions against the Church and its flock, we can clearly see that the Church is continuously under attack. From one side, we've got the vile pagans, slandering and insult the Church and its members, the apostates and heretics that continuously seek to murder our own priests and at the same time, a great number of ignorant people. The Church is being attacked from every side, and I personally believe more drastic measures have to take place. I urge his Holiness Owyn III to see fit on how to react to these events, as looking at the records, the attacks are multiplying as time goes on. If I may say, these events can be seen as an act of aggression towards the Holy Mother Church and all of its Followers, and I say, there has to be action taken. Te Deum. A MISSIVE TO MEN OF VIRTUE 1805, 358 ES It is truly a grim day, as news have reached me personally, news of an attack on one of our very own priests, Father Javier Francisco. I was sent a message by his Holiness Owyn III to find out more details about what happened. I quickly made my way to Providence, to meet with the Father himself and check on his condition. When I saw Father Javier, I was stunned by the sight of such, he was in such a bad condition, bloodied and bandaged as he was escorted by his Excellency, Francisco Episcopus Cordoba. After inquiring with the two, I found out that one of the Hyspians who converted to the Red Faith, struck their sword against the Father, who was armed with a sword, yet decided not to use it, dropping it to the side, and for that, he was brutally attacked and slashed at the throat. Such action is surely shameful, as Episcopus Francisco and Father Javier demanded that an action shall be taken. The culprit is currently under ISA custody, as I personally saw the General escorting the man to the prison. I also wish to thank the de Joannes family, as they went forth to protect the Father and assist in apprehending the culprit, who has denounced the one True Faith and turned his back against his own people. I also urge his Holiness to see fit as to how to react to such action, as this is clearly an attack on not just the Father, but the Faith itself. Te Deum. PAPAL MISSION TO ESBEC 1804, 357 ES Once again, a successful mission held by the Holy Mother Church has been conducted, a delegation sent by his Holiness to the small town of Esbec of the Holy Orenian Empire. With Monsignor Adelric’s mission beforehand, which has certainly helped us in getting to know what awaits us in said town. Our initial impressions could be compared to the same conclusions Monsignor Adelric came upon, the people seem to be quite welcoming and the place is surely a wonderful sight to beset one's gaze upon. Its people generally seemed calm and an interesting bunch to interact with, surely, they’ll have no issue in embracing the Holy Mother Church and God! The delegation consisted of the following: The Interim Pontifical Legate, Equester-Imperator Theophilos Komnenos-Arianites The Pontifical Legation; Apostle-General Armande-Philippe Talraen de Rennes Episcopus Hyspia Francisco Altamirano Episcopus Valwyck Otho, replacing Equester-Imperator Nicolas Barclay in his absence. Brother Matthaeus, replacing Monsignor Adelric Barclay in his absence. Cardinalis Albarosa Pelagius, who came on his own accord. After our long journey, we came upon the main square of the town, it’d be visible just from the surroundings how peaceful this place is. Just a few paces away, sat his Excellency, Guy de Soissons, who was expecting our humble delegation. As soon as he saw us, he stood up, welcoming us with open arms as he began to give us a tour of the place. Wandering through the town, there’d be a tavern, a bank, houses, a library and more! It was certainly different from the ones we know, such as Karosgrad or Providence, as the frontier surely grew a joyful expression on everyone within the delegation. Not only that, but Guy showed us the designated area that will be used for Esbec’s further expansion, which includes a chapel that stretches over 20 meters, which seems to be quite satisfying considering the overall size of the town. While there are always positive aspects of a mission, there are also negative ones and mostly that a few of its residents are either unaware of the Canon and some of them are quite hostile about it, as one Elf openly stated that he’d burn the chapel once its construction may complete. Although, there’s always hope for everyone to clear their minds and see the truth, to follow the right path of God. Episcopus Guy de Soissons also assured us that he will see fit to bring the people closer to the Mother Church, and allow them to embrace her and God, he also agreed to hold baptisms for the people within the town, which may work as an example for others to follow. Reaching to those who’re interested, potentially getting them to become acolytes and priests to assist him in his work. Last but not least, it has been discussed as well the possibility of establishing an Order chapter within Esbec, where an amount of Pontifical Guards may be stationed to look after his Excellency, as well as any other fellow clergyman and of course any property owned by the Church. He announced that he will be holding a meeting with Toni Talhoffer, Esbec’s leader and the rest of the council to bring forth what was discussed with the delegation. What also gave us hope, was the playfulness and willingness of a child to get baptized, after hearing about God! It’ll surely be a great outcome, as we await for others to show such interest and eventually embrace the Canon and its flock. THEOPHILOS’S MISSION TO DOBROV 1803, 12th of the Deep Cold, 356 ES I personally thank his Holiness, Owyn III for entrusting me with a mission of his to discuss the possibility of establishing a Diocese in the town, namely Dobrov, which is led by a man called Ostromir, under the Holy Orenian Empire. Initially, I took with me two new Armigers of the Supreme Order, Alfonso Altamirano and Santiago Chicote, which I thought it’d be good to have them with me, as part of one of their initiation missions within the Order. Walking along the coast close to Providence, and with the help of a map, we eventually reached our designated location, a hilltop area with a forest around. It seemed quite hidden from the rest of the known places, as finding it took some of our time. Though, our first impression of the town wasn’t quite what we expected, upon our arrival, we saw a town with unfinished buildings and a wall, and the town seemingly empty of any signs of life. We’ve decided that it’d be good to head to the local tavern and take a rest, while we wait for some time, in case any individual shows up. But to our surprise, even after a long chatter between ourselves, no single soul showed up. It was then decided that we should head back to Karosgrad, and possibly try our luck next time. Also, that caught my attention was a well-made statue resembling its lord, with a placette below, ‘Ostromir’ engraved on it. A couple Saint’s days ago, I was wandering around Providence, when I saw a man with identical features to that of the statue, and decided to approach him. He generally seemed like a thin and somewhat frail man, with visibly tired eyes. My first move was to initiate the conversation and introduce myself to him. Finding out that he’s the Lord of Dobrov, I then decided to express my will to discuss matters of the faith, something which frankly he didn’t really seem to be interested in, though, was willing to hear me out. As the discussion went on, I found out that the man held and still holds grudges against his Holiness, Owyn III, stating that he’s not worthy of the position considering rumored past actions. I will not state anything else said, other than that he was not at all fond about the current High Pontiff, but I may say that most of what was said stems from past actions, apparently. Not only that, but it seems that Father Dima is his son, and with the disunity that currently harms the cohesion of the Church, Ostromir has expressed that he does not wish any Diocese to be established, while his Holiness Owyn III retains his position, mainly because it may get an unfavorable Bishop appointed to it.
