It was a bright day such as any other, the sun shining and beaming down upon the city of Karosgrad. Mirabella Violet sat within her home, the rooms shrouded with darkness. The fire that often crackled was burnt out, and the woman felt no desire to relight it. At her desk she sat, a sorrowful look upon her face. She made herself think of how this sudden feeling had come, yet inside she knew exactly how. It was a feeling that had been lingering since her days within Providence, when she was a child. A mix of shame and sadness that sat within, brewing and growing as she aged. There was no reason for her to feel these things, yet she did. It felt as if she’d amounted to nothing even if she had. It was an undying loneliness that she thought she had forgotten. Mira shook her head, mumbling unknown words under her breath. She quickly rose from her chair, and grabbed a bag. Inside it she placed important items- food, water, and her works. Books scribbled with lines of ink, with papers of different origins tucked away to look back at. Her home was something she loved. The first place of her own, the first place she could even call home. Yet Mirabella felt she needed to leave it. She wanted to run from her feelings, seeming in some odd and sudden panic. The woman stopped; her eyes glancing back to her desk. She rushed to it, beginning to write. Hastily, and messily, yet it was done. It was the least she could do at that moment. After a bit more packing, Mirabella Violet left the city, with no trace as to where she continued on to. The only thing left behind was a piece of paper that laid on her desk. The Domain of Vortice The Sovereign State of Talon’s Port is one that has stood the test of time. Finding its beginnings as a mere settlement, Talon’s Port, formerly known at Talon’s Grotto, has seen many changes throughout its existence. As our city and people grow and expand, we deem it fit that we allow our title to match that of our national standing. Henceforth, The previously stated Sovereign State of Talon’s Port shall formally be known as The Unified Domain of Vortice. And thus, with the changing of a people led by the people, so too must the positions of office be redefined. Known forth, the following titles of commission shall hold these respective duties: [Monarch] The quintessential leader of Vortice, otherwise known as the Keeper of the Depths, is tasked with the ultimate decisions for the well-being of Vortice and her people. Thus being said, this and every other title is androgenous, and blind to race. [Commissioner of Defense] The primary leader of the Military, dictating the militant forces within Vortice and ensuring the safety of the citizenry. They have the highest advisory on combative conflict, and are the right hand of the Monarch. [Commissioner of Justice] The judge of the courts and reviewer of laws. Those within the Ministry of Justice are in charge of writing, reviewing, and applying the law within a court setting, or advising the council on law-related matters. [Commissioner of Health] The overseer of health and safety. Deemed the scholarly head of the clinic, this position is highly coveted for medical expertise and diligence in seeing to the welfare of the people. [Commissioner of Science] The primary conductor of scientific research and experimentation, the Commissioner of Science’s position varies with whatever subject may come or pass. The duties of such often come in close correlation with the Ministry of Magery. [Commissioner of Magery] Overseeing of all that is arcane, abnormal, or otherwise magical within the Domain, the Commissioner of Magery is responsible for applications and distribution of magic licenses. Working closely with the Ministry of Science, their duties oft concern that of experimentation. [Commissioner of Wealth] Holder of coin and seer of financial prosperity within the nation. The Commissioner of Wealth as well as their stewardry are responsible for distribution of pay, collection of taxes, and the purchase of housing. [Commissioner of Internal Affairs] The Commissioner of Internal Affairs is the internal eye of the Nation, taking concerns from the citizens and voicing them before the council. They are in charge of the well being of all those within Vortice, and contain the Event Committee, responsible for holding festivals and other celebrations. [Commissioner of Foreign Affairs] The Commissioner of Foreign Affairs is the public face of Vortice, working to ensure stable relations with other nations and settlements. They work closely with the Ministry of Defence as well as the Monarch to provide a suitable political climate. The woman hummed, taking up a piece of paper that sat on the top of a pile with ink smudged fingers. "How fun." Was what she'd say to herself. "A wonderful case of miscommunication from Sutica's end, it seems. Could've at least put some statement out, no? It's the least any competent person could do." Athri spoke to the air around here, knowing nothing was there. She rubbed her thumb and index finger together, inspecting them before she picked up a pen. She adjusted herself in her seat, beginning to write away.

The Pact of Ashtree and Kraken 12th of The Deep Cold, Year 24 SA The following pact has been drafted to serve toward the interest of better relations and an avenue towards more open diplomatic channels between the Sovereign State of Talon’s Port and the Kingdom of Norland. The Talon’s Port Council represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Athri Onfroi Belrose, and The Kingdom of Norland, represented by Hand of the King, Caedric Edvardsson, hereafter agree to the following terms in hopes of furthering friendship between the two nations and ensuring a prosperous future for the individuals of each city. Article I - Neither party will take hostile action against the other, whether this be in the form of raids, war declarations, or otherwise. Article II - The Sovereign State of Talon’s Port guarantees lawful protection for the citizens of Norland while within the boundaries and surrounding lands of the city. Article III - The Kingdom of Norland guarantees lawful protection of the citizens of Talon’s Port while within the boundaries and surrounding lands of the city. Article IV - Attacks from third parties residing within Talon’s Port or Norland will not be considered acts of aggression, but must be dealt with by the government of the offending parties residence. Article V - Guilds or mercenary companies stationed within Talon’s Port will be subject to legal prosecution if offending the pact in city limits or on citizens of either city. Article VI - The pact will remain in effect for 6 years, expiring in Year (Undetermined) of the Second Era. The pact may be renewed at the time of expiration by the consent of both parties. Article VII - If either signatory is found to be in violation of any part of the pact, all articles shall remain in effect and the situation will be resolved through diplomatic means. Article VIII - The workers of Norland are given free access to the Talon’s Port mines, as well as stable space for horses and llamas. Article IX - The workers of Talon’s Port are given free access to the Norland mines. Article X - A tax-free stall will be provided to the Kingdom of Norland, for goods to be sold within the Sovereign State of Talon’s Port, and exempt from activity sweeps so long as it is maintained.
