      They do check that thread, and the only ones allowed to change VIP ranks are administrators. The only way of attaining your rank is that thread.

    I've left the ET. I must admit I haven't been active enough to still be ET, I've just not resigned yet due to the fear of quality of the small amount of time I have yet to play LotC will decrease as a result. Too bad. Suppose I'm gonna have to dust off my top hat.
